The Portuguese tarts and desserts are good. Also the breads are made fresh daily. They also have a lottery kiosk and patio.

This quaint, unassuming spot in Bloor West Village is exactly where you should go to satisfy your sweet tooth. Its selection isn't huge but you can preorder. It was a one-staff operation who was attentive and kept the constant stream of people moving. We bought a variety of baked goods and a small bowl of Kawartha Dairy ice cream. The ice cream was good but nothing in comparison to the baked goods. I'm not usually a macaron fan but their bubble gum one was so flavourful, I'm glad my son didn't eat all of it. We also tried the cotton Candy one which merely tasted like sugar. I got one of their squares which was sweet and tart at the same time. Prices are fairly reasonable and they continue to introduce new products. Support local and check this place out!!!

The first time I had the snickerdoodle cupcake. It was delicious and tasted like the icing from Dunkaroos I used to eat as a kid. The second time i had a lemon flavoured one which had a overpowering lemony kick to it. Thankfully I enjoy lemon flavour because that one had a generous helping of it. This time i got the special st Patrick's day themed one. It didn't have a specific flavour like some of the other ones but was too cute to pass up. This visit my boyfriend and I brought friends that were visiting from out of town. We each got a mini cupcake and they also got a brownie. Everyone enjoyed their cupcakes and my friends enjoyed their brownie. They said the brownie was delicious and very rich in flavour.

I have been sick of seeing those "Japanese inspired French" bakeries that have fake-y heavy make-up decorations for their storefront and products, totally losing themselves. This place is not like that. Very reserved. I felt that when stepping in the space. I got: # Ryusei: Interesting looks. Hazelnut sponge cake with coffee flavoured ganache, topped with a thin big sheet of black chocolate. I was impressed by the quality of chocolate. Sponge cake had flavor-filled chewiness to it. # Hana: Again the almond sponge cake's texture was not light. But the mousse had real pineapple flavor which was endorsed by finely shredded coconut. # Ren: The sponge was flourless. Texture is dense, really really chocolate forward piece. # Kurumi: To me, this is the best among all cakes. Almond sponge cake was flourless, but nicely moist. Caramel butter cream was not too sweet & nicely bitter. It had generous amount of walnuts on top! # Misaki & other fruits mousse cakes: Design was simple and not as sophisticated, so was the texture. Mousse was not as airly, however, the mousse's taste was very well balanced, hitting the perfect balance of fruits' tangy-ness and sweetness. # Plain croissant: LOVED this. Light and airy, good buttery aroma, when torn I saw the layers and air pockets making a beautiful honeycomb structure. Outer layer is crispy, saltiness is perfect. All reasonably priced, modest, and this croissant! No wonder this place has been loved by the local community!

Amazingly delicious! Hidden gem in this neighbourhood…read more The store front looks so humble, and inside displays all sorts of beautiful pieces of desserts!

Upon…read morereturning it, minutes later, the man who sold it to me glared at me as if I was the guilty party. This is not the first time I had returned food that was spoiled (cream cheese on a bagel and other items). I felt Mabel's deserved another chance as a community business. I did get my money back and ordered a coffee. After drinking it, I felt quite nauseous and then worse. I reached out to the owner who did NOTHING about it. No apology, no offer for a free coffee or even regret for the rudeness. Just a refusal to take responsibility: "all our food is fresh, this never happened type of 'fake news', double talk. I will no longer attend this establishment as the food is too frequently sold after its sell by date. A question to the owner: "how long do you think you can take advantage of customers until none of us are interested in supporting you and why do you feel entitled to hard earned money in exchange for spoiled, old food"?

The bakery is still shockingly awful, if the tooth shattering, impressively tasteless "sugar cookie" I got is any indication. Not only was it the worst cookie I've ever paid for, but holy craps, it was seven bucks! Seven dollars for a cookie that tastes like it was purchased from the dollar store in 2023. I could hammer a nail with it. I would bet serious dough that Metro cookies would beat Mabel's in a blind taste test. The service, focaccia, and salad were good, so that's how Mabel's earns two stars from me. It's just so strange that this place is both the worst and most expensive bakery in Toronto. It's like a quantum singularity that somehow remains popular despite being surrounded on all sides by better bakeries, cafes, and eateries.
