A magical experience at Rosen Shingle Creek. You can get your parking ticket validated but wear comfortable shoes as parking may be a hike to the main entrance of the hotel. The place was warm wood and oak feel. Mediterranean cuisine and great service from the staff. We had magical dining of octopus, oxtail fettuccine, and limoncello tiramisu. The octopus was meaty and a large portion. It had a nice char to it. Oxtail fettuccine was amazing and the sauce went well. The limoncello was fluffy and melt in your mouth. TLDR: Scrumptious Italian restaurant inside the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel. Easy enough to get a reservation (OpenTable). Service was perfect. FOOD (5/5): My friend and I tried this place out for Magical Dining (restaurants across Central Florida offering fixed price menus in the Fall to support a charity). I really enjoyed everything, and the portions were generous. The octopus was as good as a dish I had in Portugal. It was cooked perfectly. The oxtail fettuccine was amazing. I had so much food that I ended up taking the dessert back because I was so full. It's a shame that the coffee machine wasn't working. At the end of all that food, I really wanted a cup of coffee. The hotel coffee shop wasn't open, and it was a long drive home. SERVICE (5/5): This is not a place to go if you want a quick meal. My friend and I didn't mind the slower pace because we were catching up. Another Yelper commented on slow service. If you need to be done by a certain time (especially since the hotel has a giant convention area), communicate that to your server early on. I think most of this was dictated by our slow speed, and I noticed our server checked in enough to be present but not enough to make us feel rushed. Perfect balance. The managers popped by a few times to check on us, which was a nice touch. (It was also refreshing that they didn't seem at all disengaged and listened to us chat about the food.) ATMOSPHERE: I think the place could do with a little bit of an update. It felt dark, but since I was here for the dinner itself, I didn't take points off from it. It's a cozy restaurant - not too big. There's an outdoor patio which was unused at the time of my visit because it pouring rain. Cala Bella is a gem within the Shingle Creek resort. I was in town for work, so I popped in on my own and had no trouble getting a table for one. It's not a super quiet place with a lot of dinner chatter and the piano playing, but all restaurants in the resort were pretty busy as it is. There's a busy bar and then plenty of seating for tables. The charred octopus was incredible, although the tip was maybe slightly too charred. The plating was spectacular and it had an amazing balance in flavor with the olive oil and zest. The pappardelle was also incredible, with a decent portion. The bread crumbs and cheese add great texture mixes. It is so flavorful and the meat was tender. Loved these! Service was very friendly. Through most of my dining experience I was tended to very reasonably, but as the evening picked up I think I was forgotten about. My server also happened to be one of the two bartenders, but with the bar picking up they were socializing with the guests seated there quite a lot. I didn't mind too much because I was reading through dinner until waiting a while for the check, but when there was no sign the server was coming back I went up to the bar for my check. I think difficult for the server to tend the social aspects at the bar and tables, which is understandable. So regardless, I definitely recommend this spot. read more

The first time I ate dinner at Cala Bella, it was pre-ordained. Meaning the location was preselected as part of a conference weekend. So I had no idea what I was walking into. Sure I read reviews to try and get a better picture and was rather excited to experience what I read. I've since been back twice. And love the place. So let's dive into the review: Ambiance - this is the only weak link in the chain, but that's because it's in a Rosen hotel built for conferences. So the decor and furniture are bulky. Dated dark cherry wood is everywhere, and you can tell it's just a rectangle shape room in the building. However, this doesn't matter. It's nice enough, but casual enough that you can eat right after hanging by the pool. So don 't let this get you down. Service - top shelf. If you know anything about Rosen properties, they have been trained to be masters in hospitality. And the restaurant service is no different. Everyone is friendly, genuine and there to please. Beverages - awesome. Whether you want an Italian beer, a coffee or wine, or one of their super tasty cocktails, you have options here that all go will with the food on the menu. Which is what this place is really all about. The food. Food - worth driving back for. That's not a compliment to be handed out to a place way out in resort-and-conference land. But for Cala Bella, it's true. They must have a really talented team of chefs right now, because every single thing I've ordered has been amazing. The bread they serve upon seating is fresh, soft, warm, delicious. The charcuterie and cheese tray is absolutely out of this world. The Beef Carpaccio is stunningly tender and delicious. And this Grass Fed Lamb dish, pictured here, is my favorite dish in all of Orlando. With squash grown on the property, swiss chard, gravy, etc, and the most delicious lamb I've ever had, this is something I can strongly recommend. Cala Bella is such a hidden gem that I didn't know existed until Magical Dining . They have a $40 MD menu & I booked a reservation for me and my husband for 7:30pm . On our way to our table you have a glimpse of the kitchen and we were sat near the back and we could see the pool from our table window. Our waiter Vince was Amazing & very attentive. We started with drinks ( not on MD menu) my husband got the Bella black Manhattan and I got the espresso martini. I tasted my husband's manhattan and I swear I grew 3 chest hairs because it was so strong . My espresso martini was delicious. My husband got another drink later which was the Old Fashion. It too was very strong . From the MD menu we both ordered the baked meatballs. (mozzarella cheese, san marzano tomato, grilled focaccia, italian oregano). For our entrees he got the Hertaberkschwein Farms Pork Chop (mascarpone polenta, mustard greens, pickled golden raisin & sage brown butter) & I ordered the Oxtail Fettuccine (oxtail ragout, stracciatella, shishito peppers, house focaccia crumb, italian oregano). For dessert he ordered the Chocolate Crème Brulée (caramelized sugar, blood orange sauce, seasonal fruit) & I got the Pistachio Cheesecake (pistachio crunch, candied pistachios, raspberry sauce). We waited briefly and taken to our table, but I asked if we could have a window seat. She said lets go back to the lobby and sat us next to a wall BUT yet a couple afterward was seated next to the window. Our waitress Cristina has no sense of customer service. I asked her for a kids' menu or order small portion due to me having a gastric bypass. I explained to her what my restrictions were & she said you could order an appetizer, but we dont have menus for kids then proceeded to tell me to order octopus appetizer (1 thing that will send me to ER because it will get stuck in my stomach pouch). Cristina asked if we wanted water & I said no, but I was given water. There is nothing I can eat off the menu except a salad, so that is all I had. I didn't have the heart to go to another restaurant as my husband had his heart set on spaghetti. That set tone for dinner, and my husband said spaghetti and meatballs were just ok. If you have children, they are not able to accommodate them. The 1 time our waitress showed emotions is when she gave us our bill and actually smiled. I dont recommend this restaurant. I was staying at the Rosen hotel and thought I'd try one of their on-property restaurants. I got there right when they opened and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bar was empty but quickly filled up. The bartender was awesome. Attentive and engaging. But to be honest, I was not impressed with the food. I ordered bruschetta and carpaccio. The bruschetta was ok, nothing to brag about but the carpaccio tasted so salty that i couldn't eat it. I'm not one to send food back but the bartender could tell something wasn't right with it when he asked me what I thought about it. He asked if I wanted something else I politely said no but in the end he took care of it. If I go back during my stay it will just to grab a drink at the bar. As one of a few restaurants at the resort, Cala Bella distinguishes itself with its upscale decor and Italian offerings. A weekday dinner reservation made sure our table was available, and the restaurant definitely filled up come dinnertime. The furnishings and color scheme reminded me of fancy manor dining rooms, and service was quick and accommodating. The Charred Octopus was succulently cooked and tender despite being--true to its name--rather charred. Neither too bland nor too salty, it struck a flavorful middle ground, and the accompanying broccolini was a welcome balance.. The Oxtail Fettuccine was richer than I expected. Though the sauce itself was fine, it was quite heavy with oils, and the oxtail failed to stand out despite being heavily featured. Instead, the red peppers topping the pasta stood out, offering a novel, sour-sweet burst that the pasta rather needed. Sadly, I can't say these were incorporated into the dish well, and it was overall just a filling option. The Butcher's Pie was as advertised, and I'm thankful for that. The bitterness of the cooked prosciutto and fresh arugula was balanced by the richness of the eggs and cheese, and the tomato sauce brightened everything up nicely. Although the pie is, honestly, on the bitter side, I'd recommend that you not discount it for the fact. We finished off with the Amaretto Creme Brulee, and I can confirm that creme brulee always closes a meal nicely. The generous amount of berries that accompanied this dessert, though, I have to point out. Overall, a solid dinner choice. Definitively upscale, but in a more muted and humble way, Cala Bella was a treat that I don't regret. read more

First of all, I want to say the service was great. I think all of the servers at the Rosen Shingle Creek Restaurants. Vanessa was spectacular during our visit and really made sure that we were taken care of even though we asked a lot of questions she was attentive and nice the entire time. As far as the food, it was mostly good. We started off with a glass of wine each which was very nice and then we got the bread bowl and the olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the side as a dipping sauce. The bread was outstanding and I have read reviews at this is a very good part of the meal and we were not disappointed. Then we ordered the beef dumplings as well as the meatballs as our appetizers. These are pictured down below. The beef dumplings were just so so nothing really spectacular the meatballs were very juicy and tender but also not the best dish I've ever had either. We then went on to our entrées and both had pasta I had the oxtail fettuccine and my friend had the sausage pasta dish. The dish I got was fantastic I was unable to finish it so I am excited for the leftovers. We then order the crème brûlée for dessert and it was also very good not anything to knock your socks off, but a great ending to a great meal. read more

I started off with the baked meatballs and manti - the meatballs were the perfect appetizer they were tender and flavorful as well as the sauce. The manti I found to be good but not as good as the meatball the texture was a little drier and the sauce not as rich. For my entree I did the oxtail fettuccine it was heavenly! The oxtail was tender she shishito peppers were the perfect acid and the stracciatella was the perfect balance. For desert I did the chocolate crème brûlée which was so creamy it was like a pudding. I also had a strawberry lemon drop and that did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and attentive without hovering. We got the heirloom tomato caprese salad, mozzarella stuffed meatball, veal shank, and salmon agrodolce. Everything was really good and has A LOT of personality! Veal shank was stewed to perfectly soft, and very well marinated. Meat was tender and flavorful. Salmon was cooked to medium, still soft and juicy in the center while lighted charred on the crust. And the sauce that came was it was super unique! It's sweet and VERY citrusy without the sourness, I loved the chef's creativity there!! Also, every dish was HUGE, even for Magical Dining menu, it's amazing value! Ambience was great in the beautiful Rosen Shingles Creek hotel. With all that said, why 4 stars? We'll, I think they underestimated the demand of Magical Dining or might have had a hard time hiring during COVID. There were only a handful of servers and 2 chefs that I saw working in the entire restaurant. So there was literally no one to fill waters, and we waited forever even for bread, not to mention food... Also there wasn't anyone to clean dirty dishes or bread crumbs off the table. Plus that unlike restaurants in hotels at Grande Lakes or Bonnet Creek, they don't have complimentary valet parking. For cheap butts like me who doesn't want to pay $15+tips for valet but still wore heels, the 5 min walk from the parking lot to the restaurant wasn't easy... Honestly, this restaurant is much more casual compared to Ruth Chris or Bull & Bear, but the catch there is this places' regular menu prices are similar to 3 $ sign restaurants. But this level of service and offerings definitely don't meet the expectations there. To sum up everything, this restaurant has AMAZING food!!
