Per this company, the battery is good, but they refused to test it without first boosting it. If, after being informed, the battery is failing and boosting fixes the problem temporarily, this company should have a better process for testing a defective battery they recently sold, rather than ignoring the original concern. Easily a 20-30 minute ordeal during high times for commuter traffic. I think beginning of last year, they completely remodeled and reopened this Costco gas area. It was given multiple extra pumps, a much better flow for traffic, and the sensors for the pump areas so you know when to pull forward in line. Now when I stop here, I either pull up directly to a pump or maybe wait 5 minutes max. The worst time of day you will still only see a 5 to 10 minute wait. It has been absolutely worthwhile and I will now sometimes go out of my way to fill up here. Thank you for the upgrade, corporate!

CRITICAL CONSUMER WARNING: Cal State Towing is Holding My Stolen, Stripped Truck Hostage! I am writing this to warn the Bakersfield community about the complete nightmare that is Cal State Towing. If your vehicle ends up in this yard, you are dealing with a company that operates with total disregard for the law and consumer rights. They are currently holding my stolen property hostage, refuse to return it, and have allowed it to be destroyed while in their care. The Situation: Stolen & Illegally Towed My 2007 Chevy Silverado was stolen directly from my home. The thieves abandoned it at a residential private property in another neighborhood. Cal State Towing swooped in and illegally towed it. Under California Vehicle Code (CVC 22658), private property tows require clear signage at every entrance, or a 72-hour waiting period. There was no sign anywhere near the entrances of this property, and they didn't wait the required 72 hours. They rushed the tow just to profit off a victim of auto theft. The Unlawful Lien & Refusal to Return It When I located my stolen truck, they slapped me with massive, unfeasible storage fees. To make matters worse, they filed an unlawful lien on my truck. They were caught in this violation and formally advised that their paperwork was completely incorrect and that they had to redo and restart the entire lien process from scratch. Despite having illegal paperwork, they completely refuse to cooperate, negotiate, or return my truck to me. They have no intention of doing the right thing. The Shocking Discovery: Stripped & Left on Blocks Because they are refusing to return my vehicle, I have been preparing a civil lawsuit against them. The other night, I went to the yard myself to check on my truck and ensure it was still there before finalizing my emergency court filings. What I found was absolutely devastating: My truck is currently sitting inside their "secure" yard on blocks, completely stripped down of all of its valuable parts. They are actively forcing me into a massive legal battle to get my vehicle back, all while allowing it to be systematically stripped of its parts under their watch. Either this company has zero security, or something completely corrupt is happening behind their gates. A Warning to Bakersfield Residents Cal State Towing counts on everyday people not knowing their rights or giving up when facing their intimidation tactics. If this company has your vehicle, demand to see it immediately. Take photos of its current condition so you have proof of how they are maintaining it. Document every illegal fee, every piece of bad paperwork, and every conversation. I am fighting this company through the Kern County Superior Court because what they are doing is illegal, predatory, and completely immoral. They are holding a stolen vehicle hostage, refusing to return it, and letting it sit on blocks ruined. Avoid Cal State Towing at all costs. read more

I got their towing service through AAA, as soon as i requested the tow online on AAA website I got a message that tow has been dispatched and when the truck was about 5 minutes away I got a call from a very nice lady in this towing company that their truck will be there in 5. Cal-State towing was very much aware of the pickup and the drop off address, it was from Bakersfield to Tracy, CA according to google maps it was about 224 miles. Now the fun starts......I got a call from the same lady that the tow truck is 45 minutes away and that I would have to pay for the additional 24 miles at $ 9/mile a total of $216.00. I was shocked and asked the lady why I wasn't told of the extra charge before pick up. She just bluntly told me that I would have to pay the $216 or the tow truck driver would tow it all the way back to Bakersfield and impound the vehicle. And the tow truck driver arrived......straight away he tells me that I owe him $216 before he can unload the car and if not hes in a rush and would tow it back and impound the vehicle. I called the Cal-State Tow and asked to speak to the owner a guy called George. I was again told to pay the money or we tow back and impound. My only beef was that since I was never told about the charge in advance, and moreover AAA would already pay for 200 miles....they were in a rush to get the job and then harras the customer leaving no choice. I myself work in the auto Industry, deal with car repairs all day and didn't understand this business practice, to hold a customer to ransom like that. I didn't have a choice, no offense against the tow truck driver, I did pay the $216.00 and in addition paid the driver another $20.00 dinner money as he was getting late, it was night time and cold/raining and he had a 224 mile drive back home to his family. But that's just wrong business and I would never recommend these guys to anyone locally since I will never ever have a chance to ask for their service again read more

Caught in a predicament with a flat tire on the side of the road, my experience with Cal State Towing turned out to be more distressing than I anticipated. Despite my earnest explanation about the tire situation and the unfortunate forgetting of my AAA card, the tow truck driver's response was marked by rudeness and a lack of empathy. As minutes ticked away, he sternly warned that if I couldn't locate my AAA card within 5 minutes, my car would be impounded. The added stress of being stranded on the roadside intensified the situation, making the encounter with Cal State Towing particularly unpleasant. Facing such disrespect in a vulnerable situation only made the entire experience more frustrating. Faced with the choice between enduring further mistreatment or seeking alternative assistance, I chose the latter to alleviate the mounting stress. In hindsight, it's disappointing that a service meant to assist individuals in distress failed to exhibit the understanding and professionalism one would expect. I feel compelled to caution others about the potential challenges they might face if considering Cal State Towing for their roadside assistance needs. read more

We had a foreign object embed itself in a tire. After exiting the roadway I attempted to change the tire myself. I've done it before. Just not with this vehicle. For the life of me I was unable to get the lug nuts off myself. I swear they had been placed on the wheel studs with epoxy. We contacted AAA for road assistance and they dispatched Cal-State towing in Bakersfield Ca. The truck arrived sooner than estimated. Happy about that. Mario, the truck operator, was a delight. Great attitude. He managed to remove the lug nuts (confirming my observation that they were on unusually tight) and swap out the damaged tire for the spare. Of course I had no doubt he would get the damaged tire off. It's what he does. Having the right tool for the job always helps. He had us back on the road in "no time". I had my girlfriend do me a favor and call AAA to get a tow , they sent this company with the worst, uneducated, rude-asshole driver named Kasey that started yelling at her and calling her names like bitch, etc........ I know most of these drivers barely have an IQ to barely flip a burger but at least let's treat people with decency and respect..... especially your so-call customers ! I am sure that this guy is one of those guys that uses he's strength on women and not men for many reasons.... coward ! read more
