a variety of pastries on display
Chewson H.

This Cake House is bakery in the Galleria Market in Korea Town. This is basically right in front of the market when you come in. It's on the right side when you walk in. The parking for this place is easy. There's a huge parking structure that is free to park and you just take the elevator or escalator down. So the selection of this bakery is sparse. There isn't many items to choose to. I bought two items here, one was a butter bread and one was a speciality bun. The price is high, the variety is low, and unfortunately it didn't taste good either. I had the vibe of disappointment after paying a high price for baked goods just for it to not taste good.

$4 Cream bread

Came here just for the cream bread which price has gone up 4times. I didn't know ! This used to be $1 but now it is $4. It's only the basic cream bread. I got them still because I have made the trip from SGV. Not sure if I've ever come back for it again.

I love baked goods but am still trying to get a handle on the way Koreans do them. I've heard about Q, the spongy slightly gummy consistency that Koreans consider perfect. Sometimes it's good. Sometimes it's just a little odd.... at least to this White Boy. (I hear the same word is used to describe the consistency of breasts. Never would have made that connection. Think it's pretty funny.) I ordered a few pastries and a blended latte and was immediately scared. While the girl walked over and studied the instructions to make a blended latte I had a few minutes to begin dreading the result. Five minutes later I received my drink and gingerly took a sip. Wow, pretty darn good. I think she'd mixed a little malted milk in there. It was a wonderful surprise. Oh and they have an escalator for people and another, parallel one for shopping carts. The shopping cart escalator only goes up. I guess to send them back down you're supposed to pick the cart up, above your head and hurl it down the escalator. Awesome.

L-R: Sweet Potato, Alhambra, Earl Grey Chocolate & Gateau Framboise

I told one of my yelp assistants that I didn't want a whole cake so he surprised me with 4 slices of cake from Cafe House for my birthday. I've always been a fan of Cake House @ KTown. I was so happy when Galleria Market opened and a Cake House was "housed" there too. My cakes were pretty and tasty, light and airy. Sweet Potato Cake: This was my favorite from them all. Now I know why Koreans like to eat sweet potato cake. Sweet potato taste wasn't too overpowering but just enough to give you that extra oomph to the cake. It was decorated with blueberry, raspberry, whipped cream and sweet potato chip. Alhambra: I think it had some crunchiness to it. I did like it a lot. Earl Grey Chocolate: Earl grey combined with chocolate is heavenly. I liked this cake. Yum!! Gateau Framboise: so pretty and it was pretty good. Sweet and tangy!! See the picture: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/O4Jn9Khwvdn5o2gJNXRxZw?select=_rcYlJPYJr_Rw2ZTBs0amg I went to check out the bakery a month after that and got my favorite cream breads. This place also sells Ice Bar just like the other Cake Houses. 4 stars!! Cake House is yummylicious!!

Soboro bun, no filling. Taste just like pan dulce.

This is located inside the Korean Galleria on the first floor level. They have a variety of pastries and cakes. I personally like the soboro bread without the filling, I've also had the sausage bread, also delicious. If your not sure about which to pick simply read the back and it tells you all the ingredients which is especially useful for this lactose intolerant yelper. It's best to bring cash since most of all the pastries are under $2.00 and you need to spend more than $10 worth to use your debit/credit card.

$20+ Green Tea Roll (w/ red bean and cream) from neighbor :)

I like pastries and breads ( I love carbs). I tend to steer to French/European, and Korean ones. Reason why I like Korean pastries and breads is mainly because they are not super sweet (compared to the Chinese ones). Also, in my opinion, presentation is more refined, and they tend to use better ingredients (ex. cream) compared to the Chinese ones. But they also tend to be more expensive. Understandable. Also give it a 4-star because it was an unexpected neighbourly gift! Thank you!

Nice buns

So cool to have a Cake House here in the Galleria Market. Smaller than the other 2 stores nearby but just the Doctor orders for your sweet tooth. Today just picked up Red Bean and Coffee bun. Quick dash in for a couple of snacks for the morning coffee.

Harry potter cake?

they can make almost any cake but anything u have to customize, u have to pre-order it. there's a book when u go to the cake house but if it's last minute, they also have a few pretty cakes in-house which I get all the time.

We went on a weekday around 11am and there was still a good selection of pastries, but sadly some were sold out already. elderflower rhubarb danish (4.5/5): one of their brunch specials and it was delightfully tart but sweet at the same time. the flavors really balanced each other out. passion fruit cruffin (4.8/5): my favorite from this visit. you can really taste the passion fruit and it was tart and sweet but not too sweet. very balanced flavor. if anything I wish they had added more passion fruit. garlic chive knot (4/5): another one of their brunch specials. also pretty good but I just wish there was more garlic and chives. the flavor was more mild than I'd prefer but it was still good. parking: small parking lot but there is street parking options available. seating: good amount of outdoor seating I think shared with the rest of the plaza but it wasn't too busy when I went. **when adding an update to my 2025 review I accidentally removed the original pastry photo from then so I had to add it back in **

Orange Blossom Almond Croissant -personally was disgusting, orange blossom was extremely strong. Too fragrant that it tasted like a floral bath bomb or soap. Some do like this but it wasn't for me. Tofu Cloud Croissant Toast -cream on top was pretty salted, to help balance the caramelized sugar that helps press the croissant into a toast. Overall, it wasn't wasn't bad but wasn't good and slightly too salted. Passionfruit Croiffin- texture of the croissant/muffin was great! Buttery, flaky and light. Passionfruit cream filling wasn't too sweet. I loved the tart passionfruit seeds. But you might want to scoop some out if you don't enjoy too much sourness. Elderflower Rhubarb Danish - way too crunchy, would prefer it to be crispy instead of a crunch. Filling was good, not too sweet. Black Sesame Parisian Flan -if you love black sesame, this would be right up your alley. Perfect sweet treat to bring to any auntie's home! Blueberry Tea Scone -not too dense. Surprisingly not too sweet even with the demerara sugar coating. It wasn't really crunchy but more sticky and caramelized from sitting.

I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off.
