1. If you don't speak Arabic, and aren't Egyptian, prepare to be treated less often than those that do/are. (i.e. Manager went and sat with two groups of Egyptians and talked with them for a couple of hours, we never spoke to him.) 2. They have never cleaned or washed their hoses, and see no problem with that. 3. Ask to go to the bathroom so you can see the hookahs all sitting and the floor, with the hoses behind them hanging into the dirty mop bucket. 4. My friend has been several times on the weekend and never seen any belly dancers. 5. Ventilation is terrible, it was extremely hot and uncomfortable the entire time we were there. 6. Expensive, $16 for one mixed hookah?? 6. I have been to many hookah lounges across Texas with my friends, and any in Austin are levels above this one, but there is actually one in Waco we've been to several times, called 40 Thieves, that absolutely stomps the competition. Went on a Friday night by myself after I got off a long shift at work. My first time there, well, anywhere that had the word "Hookah" and "Bar" in it. Parking was great. I was greeted the second I stepped in even though the place was PACKED and lead to my table by (I believe) the owner himself. My server was a very handsome man (as were all of the servers there!) who was able to suggest flavors for the hookah - Raspberry Tangerine, I believe. I ordered hummus (which was delicious) and a drink called Lava Flow (slightly sweet with a hint from what I believe is Pina Colada). Got a bit lightheaded and the owner immediately offered me assistance and even walked me to my car. It was a tad awkward for me but very nice to know this kind of service. Servers are excellent at what they do, although they have to move quickly (due to the fact it was packed) they are attentive and do their best to describe the items available on the menu. I have been to many hookah lounges in DFW and this is by far the best. The hookah is delicious and lasts for hours and the environment is very relaxing. The food is also good, but a bit pricey. Best of all, the service is outstanding. All of the employees are very friendly and helpful and really get to know you. I wasn't gonna feed more into this bs, but these ignorant fools brought this on themselves. Yesterday, myself and 4 other young black women decided to watch the game at what used to be our favorite hookah spot Cairo hookah lounge. Unfortunately there was a group of young men of color (not African American) there using racial epithets. The initial response from us was to chill out. Reasonable? Right? Nope. One individual who realized the issue proceeded to apologize, while is individual who said the slur decided to defend himself. Okay whatever. He then used the slur AGAIN. So of course now we're loud. Furthermore, there was another group of young black ladies next to us that stated they have been saying it all night and that they had already complained to management. Management's response to this was completely nonexistent. Instead of addressing the issue. They proceeded to tell us to calm down. My friend did the adult thing and wrote a review on yelp and apparently this is not the first time that Cairo hookah lounge has had this issue. The guy whom used the epithet felt the need to defend his use of the word by saying that he used nigga instead of nigger, while letting us know how ghetto we were. Little did he know we are all college educated black women. If you did nothing wrong a simple apology (as your friend did) would of squashed it. The fact that multiple individuals heard the same thing, complained and nothing was done regarding the incident... is not okay. I used to spend money here every week, I will no longer be patronizing your business if that is how things will be handled. It could have been addressed much better. read more

Last time I came to Cairo was a few years ago until I visited again last night. It has changed more than I can say! Way bigger than it used to be. They added a great looking VIP lounge. They added a restaurant next door that will deliver food. Plenty of awesome flavors. They also have some crazy new hookah designs and also have the ice tip hoses. Will definitely be back! read more

We were there for an hour and a half and only had our coals changed once. The employees refused to change our coals again and said we needed a refill. Their excuse was if we kept smoking it that we would be dizzy because the head was burned. I'm an avid hookah smoker and I know when a head is burned. My hookah was perfectly fine. Between the 5 of us, we all paid a $10 cover fee and spent over $200 in hookahs, food, and tea. Yet we still couldn't get new coals. Don't expect to be able to actually smoke more than an hour before you're told you have to buy for a refill. Will not be going back. read more

I have been a regular here for years. Even spent my birthday and had fun. Until last night. A group of friends and I were there getting ready to leave after we had just paid a $100+ tab. Out of nowhere we start smelling something that definitely should not be there. All of a sudden the owner starts yelling at us and grabs his security guard to push us out without even questioning if we had been doing anything wrong. They were searching us, our bags, and our table (humiliating) and of course found nothing because we had done nothing wrong. When we tried to suggest that they look else where they started yelling and threatening us. As soon as the owner realized that it was not us, we received no apology, and he even went as far as lying to all of us saying he never tried to kick us out. Another situation of profiling. This review is getting the 3 stars that it's getting bc of how nice the owner is. This place is beautiful with comfortable seating and great hookah. However, the servers are absolutely RUDE!!! The owner runs around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to clean up the messes of his employees. He should do himself a favor and get new employees. They try to over charge you and they say 'well my manager said... ' then when you get the manager he has no clue what they were even talking about and quickly resolves the problem. The restrooms are clean, the place is clean and well managed and the hookah again is great but please man do yourself a favor and get new employees. For example the line for the women's restroom was long (there's only one btw) so I asked my husband to check the men's and it was clean (the cleanest men's restroom I've ever seen) so I went to potty. My husband came in there with me and held the door. There were many employees back there as the restroom is in the kitchen and so I used it and went back to my table. Just to give you an idea of how long I was in there, I went in at the same time as the female in the women's and came out before her. Well I go back to my table all well and good and one of the servers approached me and said 'next time he goes in there (referring to my husband) you can't go with him. I said 'excuse me but I was the one that went bc there was a line for the women's. His response? 'Well my boss said to tell you' where was his boss as he was saying this? He had gone outside well before I even went to the restroom so he surely didn't even witness the incident. They blame everything on the owner when they don't have a viable explanation for what they're doing. I will come back bc it's byob and you really have limited exposure to the servers unless you need something but it's definitely annoying!! read more

If you like hookah, than I would reccomend this establishment. But if your not really into trying something new, I would still try to convince you to try it once even if you do not like smoking because its really light and its better option too than drinking alcohol at most times which you can almost get the same effect but without all of the messy awkwardness from binge drinking. I am not a smoker myself but I like to occasionally come smoke hookah to lightened my mood. The main reason in why I give this place three stars is because the owner treats me like a king when I walk through his doors but his employees almost never remembers who I am and my date because most of the time they change staff like any other day. So their employee turn around ratio is very high, which is not good to hear because as an consumer I would like to walk to an establishment and get to know or used to the staff so I can feel at home. Other than that I feel as this place has the potential to grow into something better than it is because of the different flavor tobacco that really has uniqueness to than the other hookah bars I've been too and also the differernt things that you could order in addtion to your hookah which are things like, herbal teas and also food with your hookah. This place is also a BYOB establishment so if you just do not like the hookah pipe smoking than you can drink with your hookah smoking buddies and listen to music while you hang out in this scene. read more

i dont know why this place gets a bad rep when every time i've went i've been treated very well compared to other hookah lounges in the area (peace pipe). the owner is very polite and wants all of his customers well taken care of and he makes sure his employees tend to us on a timely manner. the lounge areas are enough space for everyone and gives enough privacy to neighboring seating areas. read more

Cairo is the best hookah bar in town. I know that everyone says that about their favorite hookah bar, but Cairo is full of friendly and attentive staff. Most of the time customers are quickly greeted at the door. The furniture here is very comfortable and the lounge has a very chill atmosphere. There is one employee here in particular, Ehab, who is really great! He picks out our shisha for us based on what we have liked in the past. He is friendly and social with the customers. He is happy to explain the different flavors as well as what different foods are. Ehab makes an effort to remember the names of the regulars. Fresh coals are brought out often. The latest time I was at the lounge we had a hookah last a few hours and it didn't burn. This is definitely THE hookah spot in the area. It's also BYOB. On thursdays there are live bands and on Fridays and Saturdays they have belly dancers! A great place to spend the evening and unwind! read more
