What a delicious brunch. If you're in Columbia and wanting something special and unique, this homey Polish cooking will be the place for you. The Pierogis were perfectly cooked with a gorgeously caramelized onion garnish. The naleśniki's (Polish crepes) were golden, soft, and fluffy. The hazelnut and strawberry crepe was drenched in a trio of tasty sauces and the bacon and egg naleśniki was a breakfast staple to get you through the day. read more

My greatest fear was realized. The little old Polish lady that runs this place retired. Oh no! But, thank you baby jesus, a family friend has purchased the place and learned all the tips, tricks, and techniques. My pierogi and gulash live on. They've updated the inside. It's still small but they've maximized the space. They've also added a little patio on the side. And the food is still the same!!! Best pierogi in the Midwest. And, trust me, I've looked. Totally worth the drive from Saint Louis to Columbia. The owners are super friendly and really seem to care about the place and your experience. If you're in Columbia, it's a must. If you're within a couple hours of Columbia, it's still a must. read more

What a hidden gem. whenever I see Polish food I have to try it and I'm glad I did. Everything was delightful. The combination plate of pierogies one night filling fresh and absolutely delicious. The next day chicken crêpes with the farmers peach cobbler filling. Antoine the owner, friendly fast and accommodating fun conversationalist. The ambience very unassuming, yet it was very clean and engaging for conversation. If you live in the Columbia area drive walk run to Cafe Poland you'll not regret this choice read more

Quaint little shop with Eastern European classics. This place is tiny but very cozy. There is outdoor seating as well. An older polish woman owned the restaurant and has now retired. A young couple has taken over and continued with the classical menu. They are producing some real bangers. Pierogis are amazing. There are several different type. Definitely try the Nalesniki, almost like a rolled fried crepe. They have a unique schedule. A must try when you can catch them open. read more

The pierogis were delicious especially when eaten with sour cream and I can tell that those were made with care. The kielbasa with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes were delicious too but I wished that the mashed potatoes had a little more salt or butter in it. The house coffee was fine, and the onions could use a little bit less salt since it was on the saltier side. The inside had a homey and cozy feel to it which perfectly fits the chilly autumn vibe. To make things even better, the owners who run the restaurant are very friendly and went out of their way to initiate a conversation with me. Overall, I would definitely return the next time I'm in Columbia. read more

What a cute place ! Also I met the sweetest owners I think. Madison and Antwone were very gracious to me even though they had a full house. I did take out and I enjoyed my dish thoroughly. It's a cabbage meal and I also had a beet drink. I don't know the names of the dishes as I am not familiar with polish food but I will definitely be back. Yum ! read more

Fun little polish place in downtown Columbia. The pirogies and borscht soup were fantastic. The soup was spicy and is served ahead of the main dish. The service is slower but they warn you up front. Would avoid if you are in a rush. read more

I always appreciate finding a place that is a bit of a diamond in the rough. As I approach the building here at Café Poland, I thought maybe I should keep walking. But I stopped poked my head in there very small restaurant and a lovely young lady named Madison with a big smile said welcome. That's all it took. Now I'm sitting outside on their little patio in the sun having a beer and enjoying a wonderful meal. Just try it I think you'll love it. read more

This place is small, adorable, and has the cutest little Polish grandmother in the kitchen. It's like stepping into someone's home rather than being in a restaurant, but the ambiance can't make up for the quality of the food, especially when two appetizers and two mains served on paper plates will cost you $80. The Pierogis and the Gulash were on the better side of the menu, but neither was particularly well-balanced since I wished the Pierogis were less soggy and had more flavor to them, and the Gulash was overly salty. The Polish Crepe and the Golabki were all-around a bit disappointing. The Golabki tomato sauce was sweet with no other real nuance, and the texture of the crepe was like almost like a fried tortilla. Overall, I would say enjoy the ambiance from the outside and get some Polish food another time. read more

Wow so much to say about this place! First of all props to the owner, when I went she was all by herself yet had quick and amazing service! I had the potato pirogies and they were by far the best I've ever had! Love was incorporated into these homemade pirogies. Price was a little expensive but would pay it again and again for the amazing meal! Seriously check out this secret jem, you won't regret it read more

It's not every day you get to experience something as welcoming as dining at Cafe Poland. This restaurant had 4 or 5 tables, which in my experience means you're about to get your mind blown. It delivered. I tried everything on the sampler plate and wish I had another stomach so I could have tried everything else. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. If you're in town, go here. read more

Excellent food and service with a smile. Treated us like family. Very comphy and cozy atmosphere! Good music also! If you leave there hungry it's your fault! True to the original owners quality and service! We will definitely be back soon! read more

This quiet 4-table cafe has the ambience of your great aunt's kitchen. No fuss, no frills, politics on the TV, old photos on the walls in mismatched frames. The pirogies were scrumptious, the Gołąbki was sweet, with the sauce just thick enough to cling to the cabbage rolls. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, but needed a bit of salt in my opinion. The bay leaf and parsley were a bit forward for me, and stayed with me for hours. The service was quick, and no-nonsense, the portions gracious, but a bit pricey for a paper plate meal. read more

I'm not Polish nor am I all that familiar with their cuisine, so I can't tell you how "authentic" this place is. But I can tell you that all the food is amazing. I wrote a book, The Art of Taking it Easy, which was translated into Polish and has been selling very well over there. To celebrate, I thought it would be cute if I popped into a Polish restaurant for some Pierogies for a quick photo. We were traveling the midwest and Google led us to Columbia, which luckily was on our tour. After snapping a few pics, everyone in my party was super pleased with the food and we ordered nearly everything on the menu. And the owner is a wonderful woman from Poland. She prepared our food, brought it out for the shoot. She even read my book in Polish. I don't know, seems rather authentic to me. Check it out, you'll love it. And don't forget to take it easy. read more

Café Poland - Pierogies and Borsch - Polish Near Me - Columbia, Missouri

Small cafe with only a few tables, but a very cute owner, reminiscent of any good Eastern European grandmother. Unsurprisingly, not a great place for vegetarian food, so I can't comment on much of the menu. We tried the borsch (probably vegetarian, but if that matters to you double check, since traditional borsch is made with beef), spinach and cheese crepes, and the pierogis. - The borsch was some of the best I've had. It was served in a styrofoam coffee cup and drinkable, instead of eaten with a spoon, which is a little strange to me, but the broth was deeply aromatic, and the soup very enjoyable - The crepes were quite good! Far from traditional French crepes, but a solid option - I'm conflicted on the pierogis. They aren't the best pierogis I've had, the potato had a bit too sharp of a flavor. My friend disagreed though, and greatly preferred them to the ones we got while we were in a small town in Poland. The farmer's cheese was a very good pairing for them. read more

Great little hole in the wall. I had the pierogies. It was a little bland but very good. The borscht soup. It was yummy. Service was so quick. The food was served on paper plates. Café Poland - a red and white sign on a pole - Polish Near Me - Columbia, Missouri

Oh. My. Gosh. I was on a road trip from Michigan back home to Kansas City and decided to stop in Columbia for some food. Pulled up restaurants in the area and saw Cafe Poland, and we don't have a restaurant like that in KC so we decided to try it. Walking in, the restaurant is super intimate and adorable. The lady serving us, who I assumed is the owner (I should have asked!) was so very nice. Awesome prompt and friendly service. My boyfriend and I split the plate made for two that has mashed potatoes, sausage, pirogies, cabbage rolls, and a sauerkraut stew. It was amazing! Such fantastic flavor and so filling. This was the perfect ending of our vacation, and any time I pass through Columbia I'm definitely stopping here again! read more

I absolutely loved visiting this quaint little cafe located in downtown Columbia. The pierogi that we ordered was wonderful-- so flavorful and perfect. I ordered the cheese/potato pierogi and fought my boyfriend for every last bite! We also ordered the ham and eggs crepes as well as a strawberry and raspberry crepe. All were very good. The atmosphere in the cafe was very homey. It's the kind of place where you feel that you've stepped into Poland itself just because of the authenticity of the food and the employees working there (polish accents and all). It is a family owned cafe, and the mother who cooks the food is very friendly and happy to visit with you. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try something different or have a nice polish meal. read more

Café Poland - Pierogi and crepes - Polish Near Me - Columbia, Missouri

I come here about once or twice a month. Pierogies are pretty good. Would also recommend the sausage, potatoes and kraut plate.

Polish food in Columbia MO - this statement by itself should pique your interest. It's a small cafe serving great home-style Polish food. Nothing fancy here but great food and service. Don't let the small front dissuade you from going in. About 5 tables inside and a couple of sidewalk side tables. It's a family-owned and operated business - mother and son. It was great to see very strict Covid-19 standards during my recent visit. Pirogies are outstanding. If you can't choose which type, they are happy to serve you a mix. Bigos and Golabki are my favorites. Delicious sauerkraut really makes Bigos great here - order the Golabki if you are not into sauerkraut. Had I not consumed a large volume of milkshake in Jeff City (check out Central Dairy) just few hours before stopping here, I would have ordered the Sampler - just about everything on the menu on one plate! Next time... Smacznego! read more

Heading through Missouri on 70 and want something unusual and authentic, this is certainly a place to consider. Polish food at its best, home cooking, polish owned mom and son operating the place. Don't be put off by the small size of the place or the lack of modern interior, you are coming for the tasty food and great selection of European beers. Pierogies, Borsch, Gulash, Lecho - it's all good It's about 5 minutes south of interstate 70 with plenty of parking on city streets. (Ok for motorhomes on Sundays but would be problematic week days) I best not say it was as tasty as our polish sister in laws cooking, let's keep that to ourselves! read more
