This is one of the most unique coffee shops I've ever seen! Not only do they keep up quite a few beautiful spaces, it's livened up with many well kept indoor plants. They're managed and kept by a local plant Co. Also - they have three rooftop decks for all your sunshine needs! The main deck has beautiful billowing flower troughs. You have to check it out! I tried a blueberry scone (so soft, so fresh, so moist, perfectly not too sweet, lovely!) and a classic cappuccino - which was spot on everything you love in an espresso. Thank you Acola! I'm glad I drove a few minutes from the Hwy for this special treat! If I were a local, I may live here! read more

Wow!! Came here with my son during mom's weekend. What a great spot!! We went on Saturday morning and the place was packed, but the line went fast. All of the staff was super friendly and the coffees were fantastic. I got a basic drip coffee with skim milk, but what took it to the next level was their house-made syrup. I did a mix of vanilla and caramel. The store itself is so cute and surprisingly huge with both indoor and outdoor seating and multiple floors. I will definitely be back. read more

Cute coffee shop but I got sick after eating here. I ordered a gluten free crepe and I am just not sure what I was served. Maybe this place is only good for coffee and the baked goods. Such a shame to go out of my way to visit this place and now be ill. Just terrible read more

Have been here a couple times, always fun breakfast food like crepes and a full bakery. Plenty of coffee choices too. Some might be dissatisfied with the long line but it is worth the wait. I have had the Weekend at Bernie's crepe, scones and muffins. The cookies look great too. I also had hot lattes with caramel and they are well done. Plenty of room outside and in the back and even upstairs for quiet study for students since it is a college cafe. read more

It was in walking distance while I waited for my car repair. I had heard lots of okay things and I had been wanting to try it for a while. I didn't feel welcomed into the cafe, so I took my beverage to go. Looked like they had cute little tables to gather with a friend. I should have stuck with my go-to coffee as the seasonal latte didn't do it for me. I don't know if it was the drink or how I witnessed food handling while I waited for my drink. read more

Cute coffee shop, vibes were vibing. It gets pretty busy and loud but found a nice little quiet nook to do some studying. Food and drinks were great. I was able to try both the matcha and their coffee. read more

This is an amazing coffee shop experience. Sitting a couple of blocks away from Columbia College (the "other" school in town), and in a big, winding 2-story space full of little nooks and open spaces. The coffee is on-point, a must for a coffee shop of course. I had the cold brew (of course) which was pulled from a tap (PROPER!!), and full of delicious tasting notes, as cold brew should be. There's also a wide selection of food choices and we sampled both savory and sweet. Everything was fresh or made to order and great. As we pass through Columbia frequently, this will likely be a common stop for us from now on. Highly recommended. read more

We got there around 9 am on a Saturday and there was a decent line but it was moving at a good pace. The service was great. All the workers we interacted with were super nice and helpful. The place is decorated beautifully with lots of casual seating. My crepe was delicious (the Frenchie) but I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee I got. It was a spring special called Blueberry Pancake. My husband got a blueberry muffin and he liked it. read more

Absolutely loved the ambience and the service was great. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed in the coffee itself. My iced vanilla latte was overly sweet. There wasn't a great balance of coffee and syrup. If you prefer a stronger coffee, I would recommend asking for half sweet. read more

As izma says, "brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!" This is the location to come to for anything you ever desired from a coffee shop. Better than your dreams and definitely finer designed. Nooks for studying, crepes to eat and coffee to drink near plants, window and college kids ready for their final. I truly felt like I couldn't take matching photos for this place for the first time. Coffee Shop No. 422 Acola Coffee Company Columbia, MO September 27, 2024 On this busy day I had a 90 minute time frame to visit a coffee shop in Columbia, MO. I had to be particular about the coffee shop I chose because I only had time to visit one shop. This was a very difficult task because there are so MANY coffee shops with high ratings in Columbia. I narrowed my decision down to who I thought had the most plants in their shop. I like plants a LOT, but just not as much as cortados. Acola Coffee Company is delightfully beautiful. The wood trimmings, accents, the greenery, the natural light and large black framed windows bring a sense of peacefulness to a very busy cafe. Columbia is a college town so Acola was packed with students; some studying solo, others in a group and many just chilling. The environment Acola created is perfect for just about any task. Their cortado was delicious! The baristas were exceptional. And yes, I was definitely the old lady in the cafe. read more

We had a great experience here, the coffee was delicious, the vibe was friendly and it was a good hang. They offer fresh food options, the coffee and matcha were high quality. Ya'll, we stopped here this morning on a road trip and we are already plotting our return visit on the drive home- two days from now. For starters, the space- both inside and out, is stunning. Rooftop seating, beautiful landscaping, high rounded ceilings, a garage door for natural light--- all of it was so thought out. Bravo! Second, the staff was very friendly and hospitable upon our entering. We fought the urge to buy any of the baked treats and both ordered lattes- one pistachio and the other with caramel. We noticed that they also offered some interesting tea and non-caffeinated beverages. Overall, a fabulous experience and we can't wait to stop in again. PS: look at those beautiful coffee cup designs read more

Acola is definitely one of my most favorite places in Columbia. I have been going here for years, and it is so special to see how much they have grown! The staff is kind, the interior is beautiful, and the coffee is delicious! There is so much seating, they have many types of drinks, and offer crepes and toasties. My go-to drink is an iced latte with oat milk and sweet cinnamon syrup, and my favorite bite to eat is the chocolate croissant. read more

LOVED the cold brew and raspberry-toasted coconut scone at this great little cafe! Adorable aesthetic filled with plants, exposed brick and comfortable seating. We just stopped by for a quick snack so didn't have time to order a crepe, but they looked large and delicious. Appreciate that both still and sparkling water is on tap for customers. Delish cold brew coffee from a tap. A delightful crepe and incredible ambience. Definite must!!

I've been here a few times and both the coffee and treats are consistently great. Had one of the top three muffins of my life there on Wednesday - orange. Still trying to figure out how it was so perfect. read more

Waited to write a review as I feel very conflicted about this place. Immediately clocked that their iced lattes are made with a concentrate which is a huge no no in my books. Mine tasted like very overly sweet milk. HOWEVER, I also love seasonal drinks and when I saw their current one with orange juice and cold brew I was immediately intrigued (as a barista, an espresso sunrise is my favorite drink of all time). I absolutely downed the special as it was absolutely incredible. If they used fresh espresso in their iced lattes my rating would be much higher. You just can't get the same fresh strong flavor out of a concentrate. The service was okay- they attended to us right away but definitely weren't friendly. read more

We stopped here mid road trip and it ended up being the best coffee (by far) of the whole trip. They use a local dairy for their cow milk (really good stuff) and the crew here know how to pull a shot and steam some milk. The interior of the business is gorgeous with lush green plants and a range of seating ambiance's for business coffee, remote work coffee, friend coffee, reading coffee, or staring-out-the-wind-pondering-life coffee. read more

A dreamy, inspiring, plant-filled coffee shop that is totally the right atmosphere, service, and quality. The fine details, nice restrooms, and beautiful remodeling of the old auto shop make it one of the best coffee shops my spouse and I have been in. Wish we could stay and linger longer! Will totally be recommending Acola to friends and family on their travels or who live close by, worth the drive into town for sure! P.s. one of the best scones I have had too! The coffee and the pastries are both worth just popping in! read more

Such a cute spot! Stopped by for a dirty chai with oatmilk on my way home from work and it was lovely. Some places have weak chai, but I could taste the spice! Stopped by on our way out of town during our MI to OR road trip. Great looking place with lots of seating and plants which added to the lovely atmosphere. The baristas were all very friendly as well as being able to make a really great cappuccino. They also have a creperie which looked delicious & would go well with one of their coffee drinks. read more

Orders: Oatmilk Seasonal Orange Latte + swag To & fro KC/STL, this has been my mandatory coffee stop for the last 2 years. Such an adorable spot with an outdoor upstairs patio and airy, lovely decor inside. Last time I was here, it was still Three Story Coffee which I loved for the swag + beautiful coffee, and I'm happy to say that is all still true with the shift to Acola. Pretty tea gear, glass tumblers, & esp loved the massive whole bean bags for sale. I love supporting artful, conscientious local spots & this is such a special spot in Columbia, MO! This is by far the best place to get amazing coffee, espresso drinks, and food. Their cappuccinos and lattes are as good as any I have had in Europe, New York, or Portland. They are really good. If you are expecting your latte to be made with cheap coffee beans and milk that has been steamed way too long, then go somewhere else. If you want to experience what these drinks should really taste like, then go to Acola. Their food is amazing too. The people who work at Acola are always professional, polite and helpful. read more

Love acola. The lattes are yummy, the service is splendid and the vibe of the place is giving downtown como hip so it's a win win win.

This cute two story coffeehouse is one of a kind. I love the exposed brink with open rafters throughout, contrasted against the white walls, fun prints and lots of plants. Their rooftop area is so inviting with lots of flowers everywhere. They have so many different areas perfect for whatever brings you to a coffee shop. I got their pumpkin pie latte and my husband just got a caramel latte, both were great!! We got the avocado toast and strawberry and goat cheese hand pie. They were super yummy! If we are ever in the area again, I'll definitely have to stop by again! read more

I had the avocado toast which was really good, and the coffee was good as well. My wife had a mocha and really liked it.

5 of us went to Acola coffee on Sunday morning, longer line but it moved quickly. Staff was friendly. We either had crepes or toast items. I personally had a Weekend at Bernies, a savory selection. All of us were served after a short wait. The coffee was good and the prices were what I expected. The only problem was we couldn't get a table, had to wrestle a crepe on my lap while sitting on a couch. Would return again next time I am in town. read more
