This is one of the most unique coffee shops I've ever seen! Not only do they keep up quite a few beautiful spaces, it's livened up with many well kept indoor plants. They're managed and kept by a local plant Co. Also - they have three rooftop decks for all your sunshine needs! The main deck has beautiful billowing flower troughs. You have to check it out! I tried a blueberry scone (so soft, so fresh, so moist, perfectly not too sweet, lovely!) and a classic cappuccino - which was spot on everything you love in an espresso. Thank you Acola! Wow!! Came here with my son during mom's weekend. What a great spot!! We went on Saturday morning and the place was packed, but the line went fast. All of the staff was super friendly and the coffees were fantastic. I got a basic drip coffee with skim milk, but what took it to the next level was their house-made syrup. I did a mix of vanilla and caramel. The store itself is so cute and surprisingly huge with both indoor and outdoor seating and multiple floors. I will definitely be back. read more

Have been here a couple times, always fun breakfast food like crepes and a full bakery. Plenty of coffee choices too. Some might be dissatisfied with the long line but it is worth the wait. I have had the Weekend at Bernie's crepe, scones and muffins. The cookies look great too. I also had hot lattes with caramel and they are well done. Plenty of room outside and in the back and even upstairs for quiet study for students since it is a college cafe. read more

We got there around 9 am on a Saturday and there was a decent line but it was moving at a good pace. The service was great. All the workers we interacted with were super nice and helpful. The place is decorated beautifully with lots of casual seating. My crepe was delicious (the Frenchie) but I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee I got. It was a spring special called Blueberry Pancake. This is an amazing coffee shop experience. Sitting a couple of blocks away from Columbia College (the "other" school in town), and in a big, winding 2-story space full of little nooks and open spaces. The coffee is on-point, a must for a coffee shop of course. I had the cold brew (of course) which was pulled from a tap (PROPER!!), and full of delicious tasting notes, as cold brew should be. There's also a wide selection of food choices and we sampled both savory and sweet. Everything was fresh or made to order and great. As we pass through Columbia frequently, this will likely be a common stop for us from now on. Highly recommended. read more

I had to be particular about the coffee shop I chose because I only had time to visit one shop. This was a very difficult task because there are so MANY coffee shops with high ratings in Columbia. I narrowed my decision down to who I thought had the most plants in their shop. I like plants a LOT, but just not as much as cortados. Acola Coffee Company is delightfully beautiful. The wood trimmings, accents, the greenery, the natural light and large black framed windows bring a sense of peacefulness to a very busy cafe. Columbia is a college town so Acola was packed with students; some studying solo, others in a group and many just chilling. The environment Acola created is perfect for just about any task. Their cortado was delicious! The baristas were exceptional. And yes, I was definitely the old lady in the cafe. read more

Ya'll, we stopped here this morning on a road trip and we are already plotting our return visit on the drive home- two days from now. For starters, the space- both inside and out, is stunning. Rooftop seating, beautiful landscaping, high rounded ceilings, a garage door for natural light--- all of it was so thought out. Bravo! Second, the staff was very friendly and hospitable upon our entering. We fought the urge to buy any of the baked treats and both ordered lattes- one pistachio and the other with caramel. We noticed that they also offered some interesting tea and non-caffeinated beverages. Overall, a fabulous experience and we can't wait to stop in again. Waited to write a review as I feel very conflicted about this place. Immediately clocked that their iced lattes are made with a concentrate which is a huge no no in my books. Mine tasted like very overly sweet milk. HOWEVER, I also love seasonal drinks and when I saw their current one with orange juice and cold brew I was immediately intrigued (as a barista, an espresso sunrise is my favorite drink of all time). I absolutely downed the special as it was absolutely incredible. If they used fresh espresso in their iced lattes my rating would be much higher. You just can't get the same fresh strong flavor out of a concentrate. The service was okay- they attended to us right away but definitely weren't friendly. read more

We stopped here mid road trip and it ended up being the best coffee (by far) of the whole trip. They use a local dairy for their cow milk (really good stuff) and the crew here know how to pull a shot and steam some milk. This is by far the best place to get amazing coffee, espresso drinks, and food. Their cappuccinos and lattes are as good as any I have had in Europe, New York, or Portland. They are really good. If you are expecting your latte to be made with cheap coffee beans and milk that has been steamed way too long, then go somewhere else. Stopped by on our way out of town during our MI to OR road trip. Great looking place with lots of seating and plants which added to the lovely atmosphere. The baristas were all very friendly as well as being able to make a really great cappuccino. The coffee they use is definitely on par with some of the better espresso that we have had both in Michigan and Oregon. This cute two story coffeehouse is one of a kind. I love the exposed brink with open rafters throughout, contrasted against the white walls, fun prints and lots of plants. Their rooftop area is so inviting with lots of flowers everywhere. They have so many different areas perfect for whatever brings you to a coffee shop. I got their pumpkin pie latte and my husband just got a caramel latte, both were great!! We got the avocado toast and strawberry and goat cheese hand pie. They were super yummy! 5 of us went to Acola coffee on Sunday morning, longer line but it moved quickly. Staff was friendly. We either had crepes or toast items. I personally had a Weekend at Bernies, a savory selection. All of us were served after a short wait. The coffee was good and the prices were what I expected. The only problem was we couldn't get a table, had to wrestle a crepe on my lap while sitting on a couch. Would return again next time I am in town. read more

The inside is clean, sharp and actually both intimate and sprawling with the way they've designed the space.
