Their quality of food was cheap and the price was not fair. Their service is not look like a hotel.

All style, no substance…read more On a daytrip to the Quad Cities, I made a list of places for Emily and I to visit. After pouring over all the possibilities, we settled on getting 392 for our caffeinated needs. We pulled up to a bunch of sidewalk construction but were lucky to find our way inside. Once inside, we were greeted to a really loud, really vibrant coffeehouse. Nay, I wouldn't call this a coffeehouse. It felt more like a jungle gym. The place felt upscale, bougie, and a bit pretentious. We walked up and were greeted by some friendly, if not standoffish, baristas. Emily knew what she wanted beforehand but once she got there, she tried ordering a cold brew with some flavor shots to it. The barista seemed confused and told her she should just order a different item (a blended drink) if that's what she wants. Well, they finally worked it out and Emily got what she wanted. I got my usual iced americano with no troubles. The place was busy not with just kids but there was a business meeting going on. The place was very loud and reminded me of Zion Coffee Bar. Stark white walls with sounds bouncing around. Luckily, Emily and I were making plans to dip out and explore the city with our coffees in hand so we weren't subjected to the volume for too long. The wait time wasn't too long for our coffees with how busy the place was. We waited maybe 10 minutes for our drinks and were very happy to make our way on to the next destination. Maybe we are getting older and hate sound but it's not a place we could've sat and enjoyed a quiet conversation or relaxed to a nice book. As we left, we tried our drinks, and I knew instantly my drink was a bust. The americano was an off-light brown color when it should've been a deep brown. It tasted... off. Emily hates my americanos but she took a willing sip and said that my drink was messed up and couldn't place it either. It's like they used only one shot of espresso for the size; it was too diluted, too not-espresso-y tasting. Emily really enjoyed her cold brew, and we made plans to get coffee somewhere else later in the day to make up for it. I can't say I recommend this particular 392 location due to the weird vibe amongst the baristas and awful Americano/espresso. Maybe it was an off day or maybe that's just how it is. The change from your typical coffeehouse was a nice change of pace, though! I don't get up to the Quad Cities too often but would be willing to try one of their other locations after I make my way through all the other coffeehouses first.

It was our first visit so we weren't sure what to expect. I now know you can expect: friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food. When you walk in the front door it is a little confusing. There is a gift shop, and the restaurant is past the gift shop; but the hostess stand is in the gift shop. You also pay your dinning bill at the gift shop counter. The gift shop got very congested, but it was not a big deal and won't impact my rating. We started with a cup of French Onion Soup. It was very good, they top it with some thin french fried onions which was a nice twist. It has been awhile since I've been in Iowa and I was craving a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. The sandwich was good but not up to Iowa standards. I'm accustomed to a breaded pork tenderloin that is pounded nice and thin and is way bigger than the bun. This was not pounded thin. It was a thick cut of meat. But, I repeat it was good. My fries were delicious. My wife had the Classic Burger and it was excellent. She said her sweet potato fries were good (I did not try them). Service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. One word of caution: If you are on a road-trip and hoping for a quick stop (as we were) be warned it won't be quick. Everything is made from scratch, which is great, but it definitely takes longer. If you are in Davenport and looking for good food at reasonable prices you might want to stop by The Machine Shed.

The cheese curds were oil soaked and not fried properly. Most had no or little cheese in them again from improper frying. The crab dip was powerful fishy and the toast rounds were butter soaked... again more grease. My chicken dumpling soup was luke warm and any food served, especially a cream soup, cant be safely served not piping hot. The sourdough grilled toast with it was... again soaked in butter and thus inedible. Husband's chili was off tasting and again not piping hot. His sourdough was also swimming in butter. While the meal itself was solid, the service experience left a little to be desired. To make a long story short, the hostess was not very friendly and there appeared to be a miscommunication in what level of service to expect when sitting at the bar. We were told we could order dinner there as well, but struggled for quite a while to get a menu or meal order in. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was uncomfy as I eventually had to return to the hostess and ask for a menu and help getting our order placed. Ordering simply wasn't a smooth experience - perhaps this would've been different had we been seated at a table, but again, we were told the bar was full-service. I fully acknowledge this could've been an off night and not the typical experience, but it was a little awkward. Otherwise, the meal was super solid. I ordered a mocktail (highly recommend, I love a good mocktail menu!), shared an appetizer, and opted for a burger as my entree, and everything was delicious. I would definitely visit again to try more of the menu.
