I don't know how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars; if I could give it 6, I would…read more First: the food is absolutely delightful. There are tons of options, including many vegetarian ones, and I have yet to try a dish that wasn't beautifully made, with balanced, light flavors. There are lots of beans, lentils, vegetables, yogurt-based sauces, olives, cheeses, stews, bread, tea, three or four variety of starchs--rice, couscous, bulgur, etc-, burek, fried stuff, baked stuff, boiled stuff.... Sometimes, if I need to eat one meal in a day, I'll go here. Second: the people that work here come from various places--Turkey, Lebanon, Germany, Cuba...ALL of them (that I've met) are friendly, generous, and welcoming (and patient as I point at the different foods to pile my plate with!). The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome: a clean, simple yet warm vibe, classical music playing, and a back room where you can look onto the back yard. Third: you are getting ALL of this for either 7 or 9 Euro. I come from NYC, where one can easily--and in fact often does--pay twice that amount for food half as good. SUPPORT places like this, that offer lovingly made, healthy, delicious food for good prices....this is my favorite restaurant BY FAR in the neighborhood, and there are many other good ones here. I've brought about 4 friends here and all of them have been blown away...one even told me the next day, "dude, I can't stop thinking about that restaurant!".

I was quite amazed at how much food could fit on one plate! The service was amazing & such heart-felt. I would recommend this place to anyone! Although bear in mind there is not a whole lot of space to sit.

We went…read morearound 6pm without a reservation and I didn't think we'd be able to get in given it was a Friday night and the place is usually quite busy, but I think we were early enough to manage to get it. We opted for the Dinner w Friends and drinks menu where the chef decides which meals will come out and unlimited beer/wine are included (for 75€ which is a great deal!). You have a 2 courses where multiple dishes will come out at once - a nice balance of appetizer and fish, meat and vegetable plates. All are shareable and very delicious. Everything was so flavorful! I especially loved their salmon ceviche which was more like a salmon poke, in a Bloody Mary sauce which was so unique and interesting! The sesame seed "bagel" with the pickled veg and tahini sauce were also phenomenal. Throughout our meal, our waiter would come by to check in on what we'd want to drink also while offering shots haha. Everything was fantastic but I'd say the only thing that was just okay was the dessert. They brought 2, one was a chocolate truffle dish and the other was some sort of "cake" made from sorghum flour topped with pistachios. The truffles were good but much too rich and the cake was a little bit of an interesting texture although fine flavor, but nothing that exciting. Otherwise it was a fabulous place to eat and I'd totally go back!

Kari's Rating 8.5/10…read more TLDR: -No reservation, group of 6 waited 15 minutes -Free honey and liquor shots while waiting -Upscale mediterranean restaurant with decent prices Came as a group of 6 around 7:55pm on a Thursday. We walked in without a reservation-lucky for is- the host Ahju told us to wait half an hour and wait upstairs in the coach house and they would bring out free shots while we waited for our table to be ready. There were actually two other larger groups upstairs and we all ended up bonding over family members and friends who were running the Berlin marathon this upcoming Sunday. Since a lot of of us ate earlier, part of our group did a top of style share plates The other two of us ordered à la card as we had big lunches. The group that shared ordered the bagel, the skewer, the cauliflower dish, butter bean chicken and a rice dish. This was more than enough food for four, as the bagel was quite larger than we had expected and came with a spread or two. They seem like a very upscale place as there were quite a few individuals waiting outside, tables were constantly full and the service stuff were rushing around at a seemingly busy pace. The music was a little bit loud-a little harder to have a normal conversation, but it was also a Thursday evening so there may have been excitement in the air. Best dish was voted the butter bean chicken as it was sweet and very flavorful. The bread pudding was a very generous helping and the Joe was soft and sweet with a light dusting of powdered sugar and pecans. A very filling delicious dessert that is a bit uncommon in America. This was a very pleasant place to stumble upon on a Thursday!

Yes....! There's…read morereally not much to say about Meyan, because in total honesty, what do you say about a place that seemingly has it all? I was looking for a vegan/vegetarian-friendly place to accommodate my special out of town guest, and Meyan more than delivered. The ambiance of the hole in the wall is beyond special. The colorful plates, eclectic cushions, and bright flowers create a cheery and joyful environment, which very well complements the nature of the food--the flavors are bright and bold, yet fresh and surprisingly light! We ordered the chicken salad, the hot eggplant signature dish, and 3 small sides of beetroot hummus, baba ganouj, and a carrot walnut spread. Needless to say, we were hungry. The chicken was battered with sesame seeds and, despite being fried, was extremely light and fragrant! The seeds paired beautifully with the slightly-sweet-yet-slightly-acidic housemade dressing. A beautiful salad that was beautifully portioned, dressed, and seasoned! Hurrah! The eggplant in the signature hot dish was sautéed with onions, tomatoes, paprika, and olive oil... A flavor bomb if you can imagine one... Deliciously satisfying and again, very well portioned. This dish, I believe, also came with a basket of house made bread! Put the words home made and bread together, and you can definitely count me in every single time. However, the star of the show? The spreads. If you can, try them all. I haven't had a bad time with one... If your stomach or resources are limited, here are my suggestions: If you like beetroot, the hummus is a must! Slightly sweeter than your classic chickpea hummus, this spread was divine on the nuttier bread! Speaking of divine, the carrot-walnut spread came in close as the overall favorite. It was slightly sweet, yet savory, and immensely texturally satisfying with the carrot and walnut chunks. The baba ganouj was your standard. With that being said, however, the standard at Meyan is set exceptionally high. It's quality. Meets quantity... The best of both worlds, really. There's really not much more to say... If you don't believe me, definitely swing on by to check it out for yourself!

This spectacularly located, wonderfully set Greek eatery is the perfect establishment to spending an evening with your SO or enjoy a meal with a friend. Through the candle light you can read the menu and salivate over any number of the Taverne's mouthwatering entrees and appetizers. While I pondered seemingly forever over the options, I eventually settled on souvlaki with gyros in tzatziki sauce with a side of roasted Greek potatoes. If such a meal is possible in this mortal world of ours, I don't need to experience a meal in Heaven. To accompany my meal I went with a refreshing pint of the banana hefeweizen. Definitely recommended. After the meal, do yourself a favor and don't skimp on the desert. The chocolate lava soufflé with ice cream will send you off right. The staff is superb and efficient so be sure to tip generously as you take your leave and dream of the next occasion you have to frequent this glorious place!
