My water I got because I didn't have a server
Amanda C.

Updated and added a star. Love that you get a free buffet breakfast for 2 when you book their fall package. The buffet items were all fresh and replenished promptly to keep up with the bustling morning eaters. This time there were real plates and silverware. We had a very attentive server. He was always there when we needed him. The omelet bar was back and that was awesome. There were so many options to build your omelet with. The scrambled eggs were a weird texture. A combination of chewy and crunchy? We Loved the yogurt with many toppings-fresh fruit or make a full on parfait! The fresh oatmeal was good as well and had many things you could add to it. The regular coffee wasn't the best I've had but it was drinkable. Maybe I'll try one of their specialty coffees tomorrow. My all time fave part of the buffet is building my own bagel with lox, cream cheese, red onions, capers, and tomato. They let me carry that back to the room as well as a coke to go! Super cool! Will add more buffet pics tomorrow. Was too hungry.

Ok this place had decent buffet selections, most were fresh. The omelet station was very nice and the fruit selection was great. The issues were coffee was very weak, the price was 13.95 including beverage not a bad price but they don't tell you tip is added no matter how many people are eating I think 18% is a little much for buffet Do yourself a favor there is a quick serve grill next door that is much cheaper and looked good.

We were attending a trade show at the Orange County Convention Center, were hungry for lunch but wanted to forego the usual convention center food and also needed to talk about some business items while we ate. We walked to the nearby Rosen Plaza Hotel and found Cafe Matisse. They were offering a lunch buffet, but from where we sat it didn't look terribly extensive, so we all ordered from the regular menu. Aside from the buffet, their lunch menu itself is pretty varied. Service was a bit on the slow side, but in the end we were able to order our food, discuss everything we needed to take care of and head back to the convention within an hour. I ordered the open faced prime rib sandwich, but when it arrived it was a bit more than I'd expected. It was a full-sized cut of prime rib, probably 10 oz., placed atop an open, white hoagie-style bun and drizzled with horseradish sauce. It was served with fries, lettuce and tomato on the side. To be honest, I started to laugh a little, because this open faced sandwich did not resemble any kind of sandwich, open faced or otherwise, that I'd ever seen. This was also not a typical lunch portion, this was a full-sized meal and a half. Anyway, I got through it and it was very tasty! In all, I'd recommend this place to convetion attendees. It's not really a far walk from the convention center, and on this day we'd checked the restaurant at the Peabody hotel and while that place was packed and had a 45 minute wait for a table, we went here to Matisse, walked in and were seated immediately. Also, the price was fine for what it was. Even with the huge slab of prime rib I was served, my sandwich and fries was only $9.95 which is more than reasonable.

I stayed at the Rosen Plaza hotel and ate at the breakfast buffet here one morning. It was $13.95, plus tax and 18% gratuity (even though I ate alone). The total was $17.53, which was not worth it. I did like that they serve made to order omelets at the buffet, which was pretty good. There were a lot of options, but the food was average and not warm. The service was excellent and my waiter was great. If you're in a rush, the buffet is an ok option, but I would not recommend it and I would not go back.

Hands down the star of the show was the shrimp dish, perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and honestly some of the best we've had in a while. We chose seats at the bar and were greeted promptly by Brian and Rowan. Because there were a lot of people and just the two of them, they were running around taking orders from tables as well as servicing the bar so it did take a little bit to get our drink orders in, but we were enjoying looking through the whiskey library anyways. I started off with a Suncreek blonde ale. It is strawberry blonde ale and it's delicious. My husband started with the Yingling. He keeps hoping they will bring the Kentucky bourbon ale back on tap again. For lunch, I got the whiskey dip which is full of chopped beef with cheese and onions. Served with an herb, dipping sauce, and your choice of side. I opted for the sweet potato waffle fries because they are delicious. My husband got a burger with fries cooked perfectly. Once we are done with our food, we did opt for a taster. My husband had to go through several different bottles before he found one they actually had in stock. That is one of the downside is the whiskey library that is online is not always reflective of what they actually have in stock as he was really looking forward to trying the old Fitzgerald birthday, but alas, they did not have it in stock. He ended up going with the jack Daniels 12 year and really enjoyed it. I opted for the widow Jane 14 year very sweet easy to drink. Great service from Bryan and Rowan always enjoy seeing them behind the bar

Each place setting contained prix fixe menu, a glass of water and chilled water in glass bottles for convent refills. Service was top notch. Drink selections were taken immediately after taking a seat. I ordered House Made Lemonade that was perfectly prepared...not too sweet or tart. Once the majority of the guests arrived, each table was served multiple portions of PANE AL FORMAGGIO V & SALUMI & FORMAGGI BOARDS. Both starters were freshly prepared and delicious. Our entree orders were taken as we continued networking & enjoying the starters, followed by a Caesar Salad. For my entree, I chose the CHARGRILLED BRANZINO GF and it exceeded my expectation. The headless whole fish stuff with fresh garlic & capers was served over a large portion of broccolini. The taste was amazing and the portion was generous. I was only able to finish a quarter of my entree but there was no way I was leaving anything behind. Several guests felt the same and also requested to go containers. Hubby and I passed on Tiramisu. For a simple meal for two people, the service was unreasonably slow throughout the evening. Our server, Svet, was polite and personable, but friendliness alone could not make up for the delays. The hummus appetizer was excellent and was easily the highlight of the meal. It was flavorful and served with pita, cucumbers, carrots, and red peppers. The food presentation overall was attractive and showed promise. The most serious issue occurred when my son ordered a refill of his virgin mojito and was served a drink containing alcohol. He immediately noticed something was wrong after taking a sip and handed it to me. I tasted it as well and confirmed that it contained alcohol. Serving alcohol in a child's drink is a significant mistake and should never happen. We also ordered the steak frites based on a recommendation and were told it was exceptional. Unfortunately, the steak was extremely tough and chewy, making it difficult to eat and far from what was described. Management apologized and removed the steak from the bill, but the combination of excessive wait times, the alcohol mix-up involving a minor, and the disappointing entrée left a poor overall impression.

For dinner, we shared Art's Famous Fried Chicken and the Meatloaf Main Plate. The fried chicken is buttermilk-brined for 24 hours and came with creamy mashed potatoes and a cheddar drop biscuit. The chicken was seasoned, juicy, crispy... exactly what fried chicken is supposed to be. And the meatloaf surprised me because I don't usually go somewhere like this thinking, "Let me order the meatloaf." But I'm glad we did. It came with mashed potatoes, Southern green beans, and that cheddar drop biscuit. Comfort food done RIGHT. Everything we had was good. Not "it was okay" good.
