We spent a week in beautiful Yelapa and it is an old-school rural Mexico experience. Interestingly, phone service is not too bad and your Yelp, Google, etc functions. On our first day away from our mostly Vegan retreat (Bleecch!) we were looking for some real food for lunch. We had walked past the convenient, centrally located Cafe Eclipse a few times but moved on and tried to find something else. However, many restaurants aren't open for lunch, or just not open so we fortunately headed back to give Cafe Eclipse a try and very glad we did. We sat out on the street side, covered patio and had an excellent seafood lunch. Service was friendly and sweet. I got the grilled fish Veracruz style and my wife got the shrimp/avocado salad. Both were really nice, perfectly cooked, fresh and delicious. My fish was a good-sized filet smothered in peppers, onions, green olives. full of flavor and delish. Her shrimp salad was great also - nice fresh shrimp in a delicious dressing in an avocado half with plenty more along side. Really good. We got classic margaritas, asked for them not sweet and they were perfect and spiritous. I think all in all it was probably our favorite meal while in Yelapa. Our retreat organized a taco dinner one night with the restaurant - in their beautiful back garden area - and that was very nice as well and got to meet a lot of the sweet, welcoming family. There are some good food choices available in Yelapa but Cafe Eclipse really stands out, serving delicious fresh food and drinks in a friendly, shady setting. read more
