On the day we arrived in Yelapa, this seemed to be the only place that was open...or the only place we could find, anyway, since it was starting to get late and we were hungry. After being directed to sit down, we proceeded to wait a total of an hour before even getting waited on! During that time, we twice tried flagging down the waiter. I was by no means expecting American style service, but this was ridiculous. The waiter would practically run past us to avoid us!
By the time the waiter took our order, they were out of the one decent-looking vegetarian dish: chile rellenos. I guess poblano peppers are hard to keep in stock? Anyway, we eventually ordered, and included an appetizer so that we would get something to snack on quickly. Well, so much for that idea--the main dishes arrived 1/2 hour later but the appetizer never came. How did we manage to even get the entrees to arrive? We called the waiter over and asked him. He proceeded to ask us to remind him what we got--"it was the shrimp and the..." Nope, no shrimp, fish and enchiladas.
We wolfed down the food once it arrived, but it was mediocre and not even hot.
Did I mention that after ordering a beer, it took 15 minutes while the waiter again ignored us?
We ran into some of the other diners from that night over the next couple days. They had ordered, been served, and ate all before we were even approached by the waiter. But I asked them if they had waited a long time and they said "OF COURSE, just not as much as you". So while I think we took the prize for being treated the worst that night, in general I believe people were treated poorly.
After a certain point in this experience, it became a joke how bad this place was. If you don't know where to go and you see this place, I'd say either ask someone what else is open (probably there is SOMETHING), or just go to one of the little grocery stores and get some snacks. You won't regret it. read more
