The food was amazing. Everything was delicious. We celebrated my birthday at los Abuelos and we had no room for cake afterward.

The best food in Yelapa! We spent the night in Yelapa and a couple of locals said Los Abuelos had the best food on the island. I can confirm that they were 100% correct with their assessment! The food was amazing! My sister and I had the chimichangas (chicken) which came with a mixed greens salad. I'm not the biggest fan of chimichangas, but it was good. The filling tasted like chicken soup your grandma might make. I had the Carne Asada tacos and she had one steak and one chicken tacos. The steak tacos were amazing!! So much so that I would have ordered some before we left the island if they had been open. My sister liked the chicken taco, but agreed that the steak were the best. My only complaint is that the tortilla got a little soggy... I wish they'd served the tacos with two shells instead of one. The salad was really good too. I ordered mine with balsamic dressing. I can't recall exactly what my brother ordered, but I know it came with shrimp. He asked for it to be prepared extra spicy and said they fulfilled his wish. He loved his food too. We all wished we had more time on the island just to eat at Los Abuelos again! We had the rum punch and it was so good that my sister had two of them! (She rarely drinks) My bro enjoyed his drink too, but I can't recall the name of his drink either! Our waitess was attentive and friendly. Go to Los Abuelos... You won't regret it! FYI - They only take pesos. No credit cards.

    Papaya salad with shrimp Yummmmmy

Unbelievable food, service, ambience, drinks Have never had such a 5 star experience . We have 2 nights left and plan on only going back to Los Abuelos for all meals we had a papaya shrimp salad which was huge and a meal in it self. The special we had with fresh grilled mahi mahi with side salad was Delishhhh! Highly recommend

Out of this world. What a gem. Fresh pressed corn tortillas made to order, delicious salsa, huge tacos, amazing vegetarian options, friendly staff, a beautiful view... I want to move to Yelapa just to eat there everyday

It's a hole in the wall restaurant that has good seating and great background music. The waiter was very nice and quite professional. I went for dinner with my family and I can't explain the experience without saying you should of been there. Ocean lighting on the ceiling. Drinks made with such a simple approach and flavor that is hard to obtain. The food was literally that of a five star restaurant and made to order. It created an ambiance that can only be created at the hillside of a beach. Price was negligible they just wanted you to enjoy the island.

Just an amazing destination and food. I'd come to Yelapa again just to go here. Amazing staff, flavors, and vibe.

If you don't get tacos while you're here, you're missing out. Soooooo delicious! We came here twice in 2 days.

The restaurant is essentially a large open air patio (that's covered) with a view of the river. A small lunch menu, but a nice selection that should satisfy. Best part is the food was quite tasty and made with fresh ingredients, I enjoyed the chicken enchiladas and they were perfectly seasoned with a great enchilada sauce, and just the right amount of cheese. Prices here are fair and the enchilada portion plate was more than enough for one grown man. There's a large bar and people were sipping margaritas and cocktails. I enjoyed the Micheladas. I'm not an ice cream eater; however, if you are, you absolutely must come here because the other patrons were enjoying several kinds of ice cream that looked quite delicious and unusual. And you could peruse the freezer and choose the type of flavor that you wanted. I would absolutely come back. It is not in the Pueblo so that if you are walking up the river either on your way or on your way back do yourself a favor and stop here!! Keep in mind you have to cross over the suspension bridge to get there.

Right when the food came out it was annoying how many flies there were flying around us. Would've been nice if they had those table fans to help keep the bugs away. You are told that beach hangout is "included"(food and drinks not included) in with your water taxi fare. Each of the various spots have a handler on the beach enticing you to visit their beach bar/restaurant that includes restrooms. You're kind of trapped on the beach in a way. There is no signage directing you to the town of Yelapa and when you ask one of the handlers they try to sell you an "excursion". Needless to say the situation is a little frustrating. We ordered Margaritas and nachos. The drinks were really good but the nachos really weren't. Basically, just melted Monterey Jack cheese on chips topped with tough tiny bits of beef served with Pico de Gallo on the side. The service we received was great. We read several Yelp reviews about added charges. We didn't experience that but be prepared just in case. Take a picture of the menu and use it when the time comes to reconcile your check. Also, bring pesos. DO NOT use a debit or credit card. All of the beach from joints take them but you run the risk fraud. There are two ways to get to Yelapa. You can take the bus from PV to Boca for eight pesos per person (one way) then take a water taxi to Yelapa for about 180 pesos round trip per person. Or you can take the water taxi from Los Muertos Beach pier in PV for 500($30 U.S.) round trip. I recommend taking the water taxi from PV and save yourself the hassle of getting to and riding the bus. The journey to Yelapa is about 45 minutes.
