Abulon is an excellent casual spot serving creative seafood dishes. High quality, generous portions. Food is delicious and fantastic, lively atmosphere.

Lots of seating protected from rain, but outdoors.

This corner spot was hopping with customers at 4:00 in the afternoon. They had a full bar and open and airy dining area. The seafood options were excellent and all very fresh. Even the plating of a simple shrimp taco was inviting and oh so delicious. The cocktails and desserts are also worth a try. The chocolate pie was delicious!

The pork belly and shrimp quesadilla was phenomenal!!!! Also the shrimp tacos were delicious. The classic margarita is perfect. The prices are reasonable considering the food quality.

Serving good shrimp tacos using the al pastor marinade, Abulon has a nice dining area serving dine-in service. This was our second to last stop on our Food Tour, so we used as an opportunity to toast our shared experience with some homemade raicilla, while enjoying a shrimp taco. The shrimp taco plate (tacos de camaron pastor) was good, borne on a blue corn tortilla. It hadn't really been put on a spit like al pastor would be, but used the same marinade as al pastor would be...and it worked. The white shrimp were decent size. I don't really know what the price would be for one taco...on the menu it has it as a dish for $130, so assuming that it would come with 3 tacos and beans/rice. It has pretty extensive seafood menu, and would be a good place for drinks and tacos while enjoying the mexican weather in the shade with really good service.

We came by while on a food tour to try the el pastor style shrimp taco. The taco was nicely dressed but the shrimp was way too salty. The accompaniments on the taco were nice but the shrimp marinade totally threw it off. We only tried the one taco but I wish we had something else to redeem it.

Food was solid. In the mood for seafood. Can't go wrong. Nice little vibe in there and the service is solid.

This place is AWESOME! I will come here every time I'm in PV. I will recommend this again and again! So fresh. When we arrived we were relieved to see people here. It's off the beaten path, so we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. I'm so HAPPY we came. It was a Sunday, at 5. They are as of now closed on Monday. Also they close at 6:00, but I was told by a server they are going to be changing hours, they will be 12pm- 6pm and then opened again 7-12 midnight. That will be great so you have a better chance of going in. We tried the -- *cucaracha shrimp- 5/5 a little spicy but VERY flavorful. (No picture, we dove right in) *La blondie tostada-- 5/5 so good, Steamed shrimp, jicama, red onion, avocado, mango-habanero chili dressing and peanuts on top *Burrito- a yes!!! 5/5 fajita like filling with steak and shrimp (no picture--too exited to dive right in) WE WILL RETURN EVERY TIME!

Excellent food!!! We had Marlin and Tuna Tacos, both served on Blue Corn Tacos, but Marlin comes on crispy Tacos filled with bean.... A perfect combination! Everything lightly spicy, nothing overwhelming, just very, very tasty!! Important News: they are open from 12 - 9:30! Closed Monday!!

Blonde tostadas!! You gotta try this!!!

This place is absolutely amazing!! We were walking the neighborhood and found this place and thought we'd give it a try. It did not disappoint! The staff was extremely friendly and the food was delicious. The drinks are made with fresh juices and are probably the best I've had in a long time. Everything we had was delicious! We had guacamole 5/5. Blonde tostadas 5/5 and was my favorite. Charred shrimp 5/5 and the burrito with steak and shrimp. We will definitely make this one of our top restaurants to visit when in PV.

    Seared tuna taco! Perfection!

How have I not written a review for Abulón yet?! Hands down we would vote Abulón our favorite go to restaurant spot that's local to us here in PV. Located in Versalles neighborhood, it's got a great outdoor, bright and fun vibe. Always a good amount of people here, locals and tourists, split about 50/50 in the busy season and more locals during the slower season, all seated in the cool, covered patio area. We've been over 10 times, yes, it's that good! And have had great dishes each time. To start the servers, bartenders, chefs, cooks and bussers run a pretty tight team, we always see the same crew and they are all super helpful, kind, and it's nice to see them all working as a team. The fish, produce, seafood, tortillas, all fresh, fresh, fresh!!! The menu is quite large with something for everyone, with new spins on ceviche's and classics as well. The plating is always thoughtful and beautiful, and portions are generous, always fair prices and if anything better priced then local "competition". Here are some of the dishes we've tried: Octopus on the rocks (savory and plenty of seared pulpo & roasted potatoes), blondie tostada (chilled and so refreshing), whole fried snapper, fish of the day (so tender) , marlin tacos, seafood stew (giant, but we ate every bite!), shrimp pastor tacos, tuna berry tostada (loaded with fresh tuna), Tuna taco (yummm), and a few more. All delightful! Don't skip their house made salsas, these have some real heat, so so good! Great food and also great drinks! The bartender usually working is a awesome, she's fast, consistent, and pours are also a great deal. We've had margaritas, racillitas (gotta try one if you haven't!), mezcalitas, and local ice cold beers, fantastic. It's a beautiful venue, with incredible food, an awesome crew, and always full of happy guests; each with their own favorites. We love this place and are fortunate to have it as our go to place for a fun and delicious night out. 5 big bright stars :)

The only restaurant we visited twice! Abulon is in a very pretty, quiet neighborhood-- super walkable. It's open air with good shade and a pretty setting. The servers are super friendly and genuine and they remembered us. Food: black aguachile -- so good! The shrimp are fresh and flavorful, just drizzled in sauce. Not too spice, just enough. This was our favorite aguachile during the trip (we ate 6). flank steak aguachile - nontraditional but awesome, nicely cooked, grillled flank steak in a spicy chile sauce with onions and cilantro charred shrimp - tasty, diabla style. Woukd get regular style next time for more char. The vegetables were perfectly cooked (just enough crunch) and tasty pulpo de curry - awesome, tasty and spicy. Definitely a Mexican curry -- gorgeous mix of chiles, garlic and tomatoes. Potatoes tasty. The cocktails looked awesome (we had beers) so would definitely go for one next time. Highly recommend.

My favorite was the Classic Tuna Montadito, lightly marinated chunks of fresh tuna served over a bed of avocado--so fresh and flavorful! The Green Aguachile was made of raw shrimp marinated in a mildly spicy green sauce; and the Crab Enchiladas were four rolled tortillas stuffed with shredded crab meat and topped with a rich, creamy chipotle cream sauce and avocado slices. For our entrees, the Romantica Fillet was a rare seared tuna filet served over avocado salad and sweet potato puree; the Los Muertos Fillet was mahi mahi topped with shrimp in a creamy red sauce, served with rice and sautéed vegetables; and the Olas Altas Fillet was mahi mahi topped with a mushroom sautee. Each of these entrees was fresh, delicious, and came at reasonable prices. On top of the good food, the service was super friendly and attentive as well!

However, as me and my friends (it was 4 of us) were leaving the restaurant, our waiter chased us down claiming we did not tip enough. Here's a note from my friend detailing more of what happened: "It was 150 pesos which is a little more than 10% of the total. In Mexico, 10% is completely customary, especially for tourist. Locals will give even less and typically leave only about 50 pesos. I don't know if he was expecting for us to give him more just because we're used to giving 15 or even 20% at a time but I always do at least 10. If it's one of the really nice restaurants where they take care of absolutely everything then I do get more than that but this was just a normal place And I did fold the bills because I clipped it into the checkbook, so there is a chance he thought it was just 50. But to flip out and say it's not enough that he deserves more or just to take it away is crazy in my opinion." We may return, but this really turned a perfect visit into a not so great one in the end. The 3/5 is for food and service, would've been 5/5 had we not been stopped as we were leaving for not "tipping enough".

I came in alone on a Thursday night at around 8 pm with no reservation and was lucky to be able to be seated at a high top table for two adjacent to the bar. I would definitely suggest getting a reservation as I quickly saw the dining room fill-up. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and kind. Upon sitting, I was greeted by my server, a tableside bartender, and a manager who explained everything. I was given the wine and cocktail lists and quickly made a selection based on the bartenders recommendation. He prepared my drink right in front of me and had a whole beautiful cart set-up. I got a tequila cocktail that was sweet and tart at the same time. It was really tasty. Next, I was given the food menu and my waiter came by to see if I had any question. I also received complimentary chips and salsa service. The chips were fresh and different than most I've tried. I think they may have been baked instead of fried. They also give you three different salsas that range from mild, medium, and hot. The medium was a creamy garlic sauce that was very tasty and unlike anything I've ever seen at a Mexican restaurant. My waiter also came by to present some of their seafood specials and to tell me about their beef. Again, a beautiful presentation and if I was with others, or more hungry, I would have gotten the large shrimp dish. The seafood and meat looked very fresh. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well, which only progressed throughout the meal. I ended up just getting the tuna tartare app to start, but I couldn't finish it and decided to end my meal earlier than expected. The tartare was tasty. It had a habanero-mango salsa that was kind of spicy to me. It also had watermelon and mango pieces, which really balanced everything. The best part about the service is that the waitstaff is never too far away if you need anything, but they aren't a bother. When I needed to go, my waiter gathered the remainder of my meal and gave me some fresh tortillas. My bill was $50, which wasn't too bad for a cocktail, sparkling water bottle, and honestly an entree sized app of tuna tartare. I'm sad I was unable to enjoy more, but would def recommend this place to anyone visiting PVR.

The entire front portion of the restaurant sits directly in the sand, so that's where we chose to have breakfast--under the iconic palapa roof, feet in the sand, overlooking the ocean. From our table you can watch the fishing boats and excursion boats heading out for the day, which gives the whole experience a relaxed, resort-like rhythm without feeling touristy or rushed. Service was excellent from the start--attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. They brought out a selection of pastries you can add if you want, like banana bread and cinnamon rolls, which felt like a thoughtful touch rather than an upsell. The coffee was very good, with plenty of options ranging from cappuccinos and café lattes to classic American coffee, all well prepared. For food, I ordered the scrambled eggs with Mexican chorizo, refried beans, and hash browns. It came with a basket of warm corn tortillas and several house salsas, letting you customize each bite. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care. We also ordered the shrimp eggs Benedict with spinach, which was beautifully done--rich, balanced, and fresh, with the shrimp cooked just right. One thing that really stands out is the ambiance. Being right on the beach, hearing the waves, feeling the breeze, and being encouraged (without being told) to slow down and take your time makes the meal feel like part of the vacation itself, not just fuel for the day. They also offer freshly squeezed juices, which pair perfectly with breakfast by the ocean. The menu is extensive, almost overwhelming in a good way--there are so many appealing options that it's genuinely hard to decide. That said, what we ordered was absolutely delicious and satisfying, and it left us wanting to come back and try more. Overall, La Palapa delivers on every level: location, atmosphere, food, and service. It's the kind of place where breakfast turns into a memory, not just a meal.
