First things first: if you want their Spanish tortilla with chorizo, you have to order it ahead of time. Same-day they usually only have the regular tortilla available, so plan ahead -- and trust me, it's worth it. Thick, soft, perfectly layered potatoes and egg with that extra smoky chorizo flavor that takes it to another level. A true comfort dish done right. Their tortilla is one of their staples for a reason. We also ordered a variety of croquetas: jamón serrano, queso manchego, camarones, and bacalao. Honestly, all of them were good (and I mean all), but the bacalao croquetas? Wow. Next level. Super creamy inside, crispy outside, packed with flavor -- easily my favorite of the table. And because it was Mother's Day, dessert was mandatory. Everyone ordered something different: flan with almond ice cream, crema catalana, Basque-style cheesecake, and I went for the Tarta San Marcos. I'm not Spanish, so it was my first time trying it, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's made with layers of sponge cake, cream, chocolate truffle -- but somehow it doesn't feel too heavy. It paired perfectly with a cafecito and was the ideal ending to the meal. The place is small, cozy, and very authentic. I hadn't been in a while, and you can tell they've organized the space better -- the wine boxes and market area feel cleaner and more intentional, and there's a little more room to breathe. Service was super nice and welcoming. Overall, La Vasca is one of those hidden gems where the food feels as authentic as it gets. If you're craving real Spanish food in Miami, this place absolutely delivers.

I think we got 3 drinks each. The apps were perfect sizes Recommend patatas bravas - can't go wrong with that and filling. Pan con tomate- The tomate was delicious and somewhat fruity - great quality with crisp bread underneath. Bacon wrapped dates are my favorite and these were huge. Had to cut in half. Not pictured shrimp croquettes were unique, a bit of a texture curve so one was enough for me. The crispy artichokes had good potential - maybe we were no longer hungry but it was very dry and flavorlesss, tasted like straw. The sauce on the side saved it.

Martinez in the Miami Design District from 2008 until 2012, closing to spend more time with their young son. Señora Martinez is Michelle; she runs the kitchen & David oversees this restaurant. I love the music, tapas and mojitos at their Cafe La Trova on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. Their newest restaurant is over 4,000 sq. ft., seats 68 with the covered patio seating 50 more with a stage & large cocktail bar. The valet was right in front of the restaurant for $15. Stepping into Snr. Martinez was like a vacation; I was taken to another place and time. The lush green & coral ambiance was warm & inviting; an old Miami Beach vibe. We got here early in time for happy hour. The mini cocktails were perfect since we had to drive home, but it is always so difficult to choose as it all sounds so good. I had to start with the crispy artichokes, famous carbonara croquettes & eggplant chips so we got it all. The eggplant chips with a savory sweet drizzle & a sprinkle of maldon salt that was addictive. Although I love her bacon wrapped dates, tuna tartar & shishito peppers - but, where would I put it all? The menu is Michelle's signature Spanish cuisine with European influences & South Florida flair. The smell of the wood fire oven permeated the restaurant with the description of the oxtail paella, whole fire roasted fish, steaks, wood roasted duck... tantalizing. I tried the perfectly grilled flank steak with chimmicurri while my husband devoured his cheesy seafood paella . Michelle's Torrejas Bread Pudding was my must have for dessert. It was so outrageously wonderful warm, perfect that we ordered a second . The complementary champagne was a very nice touch.! In Service was relaxed, professional, and impeccable. We were wowed by every bite. Dinner was a splurge, but it was so worth it.

1OCT26 Today we…read morevisited Xixón a Taste of Spain for the first time. The atmosphere is pleasant, warm, and friendly. We came to celebrate a birthday and were seated on the terrace, which has a screen showing an image of a cabin with a pool and natural view. The screen allows you to adjust the mood of the area, from ambient music to music videos. At first it played elegant instrumental music, and once the night warmed up, with just one adjustment the festive vibe kicked in with salsa and Cuban music. The terrace is very well set up: it has ceiling fans, air conditioning units, plastic curtains to protect from rain and maintain the temperature, decorative trees, and warm lighting that makes it very cozy. For drinks we ordered Estrella Galicia Especial they arrived nice and cold and are served with a chilled glass. Our server was Dayana, and Helio Javier also took care of us; he was always attentive to everything we needed. I really liked the leather coasters with the restaurant's name. I also had the chance to chat with the owner, Jolver Blanco. The Serrano ham croquettes were very good. I ordered the tenderloin tips (puntas de solomillo) and the salmon was also excellent. The restaurant has a great variety of rooms and atmospheres on different levels: the wine cellar (cava), Spanish winery-style areas, the indoor bar with striking jellyfish decorations, the entrance, the restrooms, and other themed spaces. There's a vineyard-style room with a ceiling decorated with leaves and grapes, another with starry-sky lighting, and the "Cuarto de Tula" with a bed, Russian-style fan, and typical Cuban elements. They also have cigars/habanos available for sale. One of the most interesting details is the men's restroom: the paintings of women with playful expressions give the feeling that they are looking at you, which sparks the imagination and adds a very original and fun touch to the space. Overall, the décor is impressive and very well done. Excellent first impression

A true Spanish "restaurant" ambiance where even the servers were Spanish with whom you could talk about the old country. What a disappointment it was to see the place has transformed into a night club with Latin America music (with extensive profanity) so loud we couldn't even have a conversation or understand what the servers were saying. The menu changed for the worse, two of plates we wanted have been removed although they still show in the menu. Also remarkable the service was below pedestrian. Servers vaping and smoking hukka (not sure if spelled correctly) while serving. Maybe it is the ownership is aiming to a different audience, and as good capitalist, I wish them much success. However, those who like me used to love the old Xixon should know is gone. It is just not for me, my family and at least those accompanying us tonight. So long!
