    Breakfast toasts (Nutella and salmon)
    Amy W.

I come for lunch all the time and the sandwiches are quality. Also, the breakfast toasts are quite delicious. However, the service is really slow. I can understand when they are backed up with many customers, but even when there aren't many, the orders come out quite slowly, and sometimes the workers do not seem to be diligent about getting the orders out.

Not bad. Tuna sandwich was a little heavy on the mayo, but now I know how to order better next time.

I've been a big fan of Menocino Farms ever since I tried them in Marina del Rey many moons ago…read more Lots of healthy food options and I usually gravitate to a favorite salad and a favorite sandwich so it comes down to what I'm in the mood for until those items get removed from the menu. Right now, my favorites are the Thai Mango salad and Chimichurri Steak & Bacon sandwich. But, I really miss the Sophisticated Chicken and Prosciutto salad and hope it can come back on the menu. And... include the Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad while they're at it.

It consisted of lettuce, avocado, corn, black beans, jicama, tomatoes, onion, quinoa, krispies, kale, cilantro, and cotija. The lettuce wasn't too fresh and there were some that were yellow green but not a big deal. It was packed with flavor even without the chipotle vinaigrette (relieved I got it on the side because I wasn't s big fan). The avocado was very fresh and plentiful. I added chicken for extra $4.74 and it was very tender! Overall, I enjoyed the salad but a bit pricey so it was a good one time experience! The Chicken Pesto Caprese ($14.10) was pretty good. It consisted of chicken, mozzarella, red peppers, pesto, and mixed greens. The greens were very fresh and the sandwich was packed with flavor. The chicken was a little dry but not a big deal. There was a lot of red pepper and it was a bit overwhelming so I wished there wasn't so much. Really enjoyed the pesto since it it wasn't too salty and was the cherry on top to the sandwich! I also really liked that the bread was soft and fresh. Got the "Not so Fried" Chicken Sandwich ($13.68) - 1/2 portion and it came with a side (paid extra $1.26) for tomato basil soup. It consisted of chicken, krispies, mustard pickle slaw, tomatoes, onions, and herb aioli. The bread was very fresh and soft. I'm glad I got this in half portion because I thought this was just ok and nothing special. The tomato basil soup was very oily and salty so wasn't too enjoyable. The Pomegranate Mint Lemonade ($5.10) was sooo sweet. It was refreshing but the mint was a little too overpowering. Definitely recommend adding ice and/or water otherwise it's way too sweet! Overall, the sandwich and salads were a bit pricey but definitely one of the better spots for sandwiches and salads in terms of quality and quantity!

And a personal breakthrough: I used to schlep all the way to Larchmont Cheese & Wine or Bay Cities before beach days for a proper sandwich. Not anymore. I have sandwich geniuses living right down the street. The bread? Exceptional. The cheeses? Dangerous. The meats? I may never recover. And then there's the lemon Italian ice. My daughter and I have been here three times in the last week, shamelessly returning like two neighborhood raccoons with excellent taste. It is the perfect antidote to a scorching Altadena afternoon. This place is an absolute gem. Go for the pasta, stay for the sandwich, leave with three things you didn't know you needed and a strong desire to become Italian.

For food, we ordered the breakfast tacos with chorizo and the breakfast sandwich. The chorizo was delicious and had such great flavor. You should've seen my boyfriend's face when he took the first bite of the sandwich! The girl who took our order, with curly black hair, was so welcoming and pleasant. As a Mexican woman, I can honestly say this place has that true Latin food flavor without overdoing the decor or trying to oversell the culture. The atmosphere is cute, open, and filled with natural light, with sweet touches like real flowers as centerpieces. Without exaggerating, this is our favorite local breakfast and coffee spot. We definitely have to come back for lunch!

Then came the "huevos rancheros." For $18, I received two eggs, two half-baked tortillas, and enough green salsa to qualify as protected wetlands. No beans. No rice. No garnish. Just eggs floating in a swamp of salsa. When I asked if the dish was supposed to come with beans, they looked at me like I was the one who didn't know what huevos rancheros was. A quick Google search--or simply living in Los Angeles for the last 25 years--will tell you they're wrong. Huevos rancheros traditionally comes with beans. If you're going to reinvent a classic, at least mention it on the menu. Between the indifferent service and the world's saddest $18 breakfast, I left feeling completely ripped off. I won't be back.

Once you walk in you can smell the sausage roll and meat pies being made fresh! They have a general menu of what flavors they have for the day or week not sure. I got the cha gio sausage roll, it's huge and comes with chili oil dipping sauce. So good and goes really well with it. Basically a big eggroll stuffing wrapped in a puff pastry. They do ask if you like them to warm it up for you in case you are eating it on the spot. I said no and took it home to put in the air fryer. I can't wait to go back and try other things they have. Hubby got the Classic Aussie sandwich and the bread pudding, while my son and I got the Beef Pho meat pies and Popcorn Pork meat pie rolls. The beef pho meat pie definitely had the pho flavors and aromatics. This was absolutely delicious! The Popcorn Pork was good, not as aromatic as the pho pie. The flavor was lacking on the Taiwanese popcorn chicken basil flavor that it claimed. It reminded me more of a Vietnamese meat pie (pate chaud), which is peppery with a smoother texture that this one did not have, but it was still flavorful. The bread pudding was good but the texture was more dense reminding me of a banana bread loaf. I didn't care for the dollop of yogurt on top, which took away from the flavor of the bread pudding itself. Hubby said the Classic Aussie was good but was expensive for the size of the sandwich (small burger size). Hubby got the Long Black coffee which was good, but sadly my iced matcha latte was lacking in the matcha flavor. It was very pale in color and tasted mostly of milk. Service was quick and friendly. I will come back for the meats and try the other flavors of the meat pies next time.
