What an unexpectedly delicious meal this was. I ordered the fried ravioli from the appetizer section and it was easily a whole meal. I expected dry ravioli with a bowl of red sauce to dip them in but they came covered in sauce and melted mozzarella on top. They were absolutely delicious! The sauce was far better than the sauce from Chefs. The ravioli tasted almost caramelized. The fried dough was good. Not the usual greasy fair dough but no complaints at all. And the service was excellent. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive even with all the activity she kept up with our order and keeping us posted on how it was going. The restaurant was jumping! You could watch the staff putting the food together through glass windows. Children interacted with the pizza maker through the windows as they put the pizzas together. I ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza and 10 chicken wings. The customer service was great. My husband and I really enjoyed the pizza. It had incredible flavor and baked just right. The chicken wings were not x-crisp like I requested, but they were still good. It was served with celery and carrots which were crisp and crunchy, not soggy like other places. I ordered to- go so I didn't see inside the restaurant, but it seemed busy. I liked that that part of the kitchen is open so that you can see them preparing the pizza. Nice little place, but a tad cold. It's neat that there's a window where you can see the cooks making the pizzas. When we arrived at around 430, we were seated promptly. The service once we were seated wasn't great, but not the worst either. The server was friendly, but I ordered water without ice and it came chock full of ice; we ordered blue cheese when we ordered our extra thick crust pizza, but had to ask two times after the pizza arrived to actually get it (the server did apologize)... Perhaps it was just an off day. The primo pizza was good and filling with the extra thick crust and five toppings of our choice... Sausage, black olives, banana peppers, onions & mushrooms. I had the mount vesuvius pasta and a salad that was on special at previous visits to Cafora's. I would visit again and think you should check them out too. This is our third time here. First experience, room was way too cold, thank goodness we keep jackets in the trunk or would have had to leave, it was that uncomfortable. Told our server, she indicated the building is old and the other side is warm...Ummmmm?! Second time server forgot our adult beverages, had to flag another gal who told our server, by the time she brought them, our entrees were out. Third strike, and now we're done. Made reservations at 4:30pm for 5 adults, 3 children for a birthday on October 27. Servers were clearly frustrated and rushing about like crazy people. You could feel the bad energy. 2 tables that were seated after us received their entrees. The birthday boy is on the autism spectrum and after an hour of waiting for our food, I had a conversation with the manager who was making pizzas in the window. He basically said they were short in the kitchen and asked what table we were at and what I would like him to do. Not the type of response I would have liked. Perhaps indicate you will look into it, perhaps offer to comp a round of drinks, minimally offer an apology and try to mitigate the situation, perhaps stop seating people and taking to-go orders. Amazing pizza and service. Unfortunately, tonight's dining experience was less than pleasant secondary to the 20 something kid that literally spent the ENTIRE time we were having dinner on his phone. From the new girl "Wef" that was hired at his place of employment (HR complaints will be incoming) to some tools he wanted to purchase from EBay to the $80 polos he was looking to sell, all of the patrons were subjected to his nearly hour long inconsiderate blabberings. Despite requesting that staff intervene- we all were subject to his continued rude, sometimes vulgar and inappropriate manners. We used to come here often when we were in the area every weekend and food was always outstanding. So we had the day off from work and decided to take the ride (from town of Tonawanda) to have lunch here. Boy oh boy, we were not disappointed. The service was excellent. She was super friendly, helpful, and very responsive. I had one of their soup of the day, Italian wedding. I have to say, it was the best I ever had. I even ordered some to go... Then I ordered the meatball casserole. Yum. 4 delishouse meatballs parmed and in their spaghetti sauce. It certainly tastes all homemade. I didn't ask because I loved it. That meal came with a salad (I only asked for lettuce and cucumbers in my salad, it normally comes with a lot more) and homemade warm bread and butter. Husband had grilled chicken caesar salad, which came with a large piece of garlic bread. He too said it was fantastic. The place is cute and very welcoming. It's clean and they make it interesting because you can watch them making the pizzas through a big glass, or plexiglass window. We cannot wait to go back. We had yummy fried mushrooms, crusty bread, manicotti, meatball ponzone and the portafino w/spinach and mushrooms. The only negative was that 2 people were given their food, while the third was still waiting about 8-12 minutes. They should of started making this dish first and not made the other 2 until this was closer to being ready. I had the cranberry wrap for the first time. We love the pizza, but everyone else in my family were getting subs and I wanted something different. The cranberry wrap did not disappoint! Not like other chicken salad with cranberries. On a recent fishing trip - in the dead of winter - we found ourselves looking to grab a bite before heading down to Burt Dam for the afternoon. We ate at Wilson's Pizza the day prior and weren't interested in going back there. That's how we landed at Cafora's. Upon arrival we were the only customers inside and received great service in this old, rustic restaurant that looks like the inside hasn't changed since I was born many decades ago. As for the food, it's your slightly better than average Italian. All four of us agreed it was a notch better than Wilson's and we'd come back if we ended up in town again. *Pizza: average pizza (which was slightly better than Wilson's down the street). Good toppings and a fair amount of sauce/cheese. Nothing to rave about, but nothing to complain about, either. *Caesar Salad: Yes! Romaine lettuce: a rare sight in WNY where iceberg rules. Healthy portions, too. *Meatball Parm: 3/5 stars, tasted like hand-padded meatballs *Italian Wedding Soup: a big portion of soup, with fair flavor When it comes to Italian the food is better than average and priced right. Ordered a large pizza and 20 wings last night for take out. This is by far one of the best pizza's I have had!! The pie is all ways cooked to the same consistency everytime its ordered. The fresh garilc on the pizza is a must try!!! The wings were also very good. Only thing the didn't give it a 5 was the sauces for the wings. I have found this same issue at many places i have orordered wings from in the past. The hot wings are more of a med sauce and the med is more of a mild sauce. When it says hot I would love to have a little more burn when eating. Right now the restaurant is remodeling to make it easier for the taketakout and people looking to sit down for dinner. I personally can't wait to see this when it completed. Hopefully when the addition is finished you will still be able to watch the individual making the pizza. It sounds like a car to me, for some reason. Chevy Cafora. Ford Cafora. You get the idea. Saturn Cafora. :( I am so sad that Saturns are history. I loved my Saturn. It's also the best planet. By far. Except it's all gassy. Like this one ex girlfriend I had, her name was... But I digress. Unfortunately, I have to reduce Cafora's to 4/5, but honestly with the number of bad experiences I've had here now, it could easily go down to 3 (which is the lowest I ever give out for family places). The food is good, and the Pizza used to be amazing, but not so much now. For starters, it's a very very long way from where I live to Cafora's. And now 3 times out of 3, I have called ahead (because I am smart like that), and made sure they have plenty of pizza slices, informed them I'd be there in 45 minutes, asked them to save one for me, and when I get there, they are all sold out of pizza slices. I really think they should pay me for the petrol money in return for their ineptitude after all the business I've given them over the years. Finally, the fourth time I visited this year, they had slices. And the slice was awful! It was nothing like the size or delicious brick-oven-ness I remember. They even added extra cheese and pepperoni (which was of course undercooked) to an overcooked, old crust, and it just turned my stomach. Awful. Not to mention, last time I went there to get an actual sit down meal, they were "out of meat sauce" and the waitress was very rude, so we left without ordering anything. I won't be coming back here anytime soon and it's being removed from all my lists of favourites, unfortunately. The food standard dropped considerably. Buffalo actually has the best Pizza in the world - it's not quite like New York's, and not quite like Chicago's, it's an entity unto itself and it's the best I've ever had. This place isn't really a good example of just how good it can be. Instead, I recommend trying one of the big 8: Bozanna's (Clarence), Avenue (Broadway & Bailey, East Buffalo), Bob's Poplar (Cheektowaga), Blasdell (southtowns), Imperial (South Buffalo), Zip's (North Buffalo), Francos (Eggert location in Amherst), and Yogi's (Akron). The last one is more Brick-Oven style than typical Buffalo style, but all 8 are better-than-sex slices. read more

My mother in law treated us to dinner here tonight. She's a regular. The restaurant is small but attractive, and they were playing a mix of music that included the Godfather theme and Frank Sinatra numbers. The large menu includes everything from pizza and Italian dishes to subs and burgers, but everything we ordered was great and tasted fresh. I've always like the idea of meatball subs, but tonight was the first time reality delivered since I was a kid. One son loved his pizza and the other super finicky child enjoyed his cheesy garlic bread. The prices are small but the portions are big. They have local wines from Schulze and Honeymoon, but the offerings are predominately sweet as a word of caution for those who dislike sweet wines. Tonight I had a glass of Schulze Ruby. Caforas is a nice little Italian style restaurant in Newfane that has many menu items to choose from. I have had great experiences here, but more recently I've had a few bad. To start off, I typically order 1 of 3 items every time I order; ham and turkey sub, lasagna, or Cajun chicken Alfredo. The ham and turkey subs are delicious, and the lasagna is delicious, but lately, the Cajun chicken Alfredo is very inconsistent. This could just be an anomaly, but I have also had to call and complain about wrong or missing items. I've actually experienced the delivery driver returning shortly after delivery because something was forgotten during the order. The last time I called and complained, I was taken care of which was awesome, but after so many times it does get frustrating. With ALL that being said, don't let this review cause you to shy away from Caforas. The food is really good, and I have a solid feeling that the issues I've had have been related to delivery process issues. I still continue ordering from here because even though there's some bad, it's made up for by the really good. I may change my mind from 3 to 4 stars eventually, depending on how future orders go. read more

Cafora's has, in my opinion, the greatest Italian food in Niagara County. What a great little place. Their thin crust pizza is SO dang good. Makes me forget about giving up carbs. Their spaghetti sauce is really excellent as well. The prices and service are both spot on. I agree with John. The place is crowded, forget about getting in here on a Friday night unless you eat at 4PM. They serve the standard Western NY staple of Fish Fry on Fridays, which is good so they tell me (I'll pass) but all that I have tried I have enjoyed. It's located right off of Rt 78 (Lake Road). Dine in or take out. It's a quaint little family run restaurant and it is small. So if you plan to eat there on a weekend at peak times, make sure you call for a reservation. The wait can be long and is crowded at these times. Often busy no matter which day of the week, a common meeting place for the locals and their guests. Small loaves of warm, fresh baked bread at all tables that order entrees. And if you ask for seconds on the bread they are more than happy to bring you one. Cafora's has a wonderful variety of Italian foods, including pizza with friendly service. Regular and white pizza (choice of thin/thick crust) but I like a cheese covered casserole dish they call Ziti Vesuvius. Portions are relatively large so bring your appetite but you won't be hungry when you are ready to leave. Table wines and bottled beer are offered but no public bar area. Few distractions in a quiet, casual, comfortable decor. It sounds bland but like a good picture frame, it enhances the experience with others and the meal.
