This is right outside the city walls of San Gimignano, and it felt much more charming and less "touristy" than many of the other eateries we saw inside of the city. Even so, the service was extremely accommodating to our (very) limited Italian skills, and we felt well taken care of by the man and woman who were there (I think they were the owners). I recommend coming here for lunch, as the menu consists mainly of panini and bruschetta, with a few pasta specials written on the wall. Our table ordered some bruschetta to share (roasted home-garden-grown veggies topped with pecorino), and each got our own fresh pasta dishes from the specials menu. Our meal here was one of the most memorable on the trip not only because of the friendly service and fresh food, but also the lovely view, the bottle of local San Gimignano red, and the stash of art supplies that playfully encourages you to decorate your placemats while you enjoy the atmosphere. Grazie!

People always say you can never have a bad meal in Italy. Whether or not you agree is really quite…read moreirrelevant because the fact of the matter is you can never have a bad meal in Italy! If you're a fan of Italian food a visit to Tuscany will just open your eyes to amazing possibilities. While there are restaurants that abound this region it's always a pleasure of mine to find those hidden gems that only the locals know about. Case and point this humble establishment Farid Kebab in Prato. My friend Francesco mentioned how good this place was so we had to give it a try. Now I've had my fare shares of halal food here in the states and other places but this would be my first in Italy. This hole-in-the-wall, which in this case is truly in the literal sense since the store is the size of a closet, serves up some delicious Mediterranean food. The meat sizzles from the gyro machine and for a couple of euros you can have a choice of a combo platter or an all meat platter that has a generous portion of food. And by generous I truly mean a crap load! No complaints here. We ordered the combo platter and the meat platter. For less than 15 euros for both dishes the deal was a bargain. The meat platter consisted of a sizable helping of meat shaved from the turning machine of meaty-ness, with mayonnaise, ketchup, tzatziki sauce, and hot sauce in between the two layers. You read that right people they pile on the meat, add the amazing combo of sauces, and then add another layer of meat!!! They do the same thing with the combo platter but also add fresh vegetables, French fries, onions, etc. and then top with more meat then drizzled with the heavenly sauces. I keep drooling every time I think back on that fateful night. I think I need to contact those guys running the place and see if I can borrow their recipe. I bet you this place would make bank here in the states. So as I said in the beginning you can never have a bad meal in Italy. And based on this humble place ain't no one changing my viewpoint anytime soon.

It felt like the perfect spot for a date night or special occasion. The highlight was definitely the flaming truffle cheese wheel pasta--it's easy to see why it's so popular! Watching the pasta being prepared in the cheese wheel made the experience even more fun, and the flavor was incredible. My husband was obsessed. To top it all off, they surprised us with complimentary champagne at them beginning and limoncello shots at the end, which was such a nice touch. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time! The line was literally down the block when we went, so this is clearly a popular spot. Between the food, atmosphere, and thoughtful little touches, it was absolutely worth the visit.

And it seems everyone does looking at the skills in everyone's faces. We ordered the pasta cooked in the parmesan cheese wheel. We had the show and it was great. The fresh truffles were just perfect. Great service. Highly recommend making a reservation...the restaurant was packed at 1:30PM!!!

The restaurant seemed only to be at about 50% capacity but after we sat down it took 30 minutes before our order was taken. We received water in that time but no bread or any kind of apertivo. After we ordered it was another 45 minutes until the food came out so by that time we were ravenous. I think we scarfed down our food in a record 7 minutes due to being so hungry. Immediately following we asked for the bill but it was another 30 minute wait before we finally were able to pay and leave. Whole process took about 2 hours

This is my own fault, as I neglected to remember the name of the restaurant. However, I was determined to discover the name of this place, so I could review it properly - as it was one of the finest restaurants I have had the pleasure of dining at. Fortunately, my fiance maintains a TripAdvisor account akin to my Yelp account, and she had the good sense to review this restaurant the same day! The woman who owned the villa we stayed at made a reservation for our large party (about 15 people) at La Chiave dei Saproi. It's a small restaurant in the small town of Badia Agnano. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated on the back terrace with a view of the iconic Tuscan countryside. Our waitress was fantastic. She was charming, witty, humorous, and had so much fun talking with us out-of-country tourists! She made excellent recommendations, worked fast, and handled our large (and somewhat buzzed) party like a true professional. Our group kicked off the evening by sharing several bottles the house Chianti wine and Prosecco. We shared a wide variety of antipasti - pears with Gorgonzola, mixtures of bruschetta, liver pate, and a meat/cheese plate. As I have mentioned in other reviews, I am a sucker for good bruchetta. It may be my favorite start dish across all genres of restaurants. I I can safely say that the bruschetta at La Chiave dei Sapro is one of the best I have ever had, if not THE very best. After the antipasti, we shared our main courses. These included gnochetti with Gorgonzola, veal with arugula and Parmesan, pasta with mushrooms, and wild boar. I never had wild boar before. In fact, I never even considered that wild boar as something that a restaurant would serve. Fortunately, La Chiave dei Sapori offered me this unique opportunity, and I was not disappointed! I am happy I discovered the name of this restaurant so I could review it properly. This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, and maybe ever will have - the view, service, drinks, appetizers, main course, dessert and overall experience was a perfect 5/5. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We were very fortunate though. They had asked for RSVP and we didn't have it, but the nice staff gave us a table and asked to be done by 9pm. No Problem!! Another tiny quaint homey place with cheerful staffs. Everybody seemed to be part of the family or became family. We were hungry and it was our first night in Pisa, so we ordered lots! I wanted something warm, so I ordered a "soup", which became to be a bowl of mussels and clams placed on top of the piece bread soaked with soup. OMG, it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! Like good licking finger good! We ordered the Caprese also and that was like another world! Their balsamic was like wine, but without the alcohol taste! We were already in love with their food. It's like two entrees already, but it's ONLY the appetizers. Our pasta eventually came and that was another story. It's beyond words on how delicious and perfectly made pastas were. It will never be the same when I'm back in the US! Like all the other places we've been to, we ordered panna cotta dessert and lattes. We opted for something different since it was her birthday. The panna cotta was light and refreshing, while the lattes are energizing. Ohhhh how I want more of that "soup". Please go if you're in the area!!!!
