We had just gotten to San Gimignano after a few wine tastings and were looking for a nice place for dinner. The agriturismo called here and asked if they could seat two people to which they responded they were completely booked, so we decided to walk in and see if we could get a table and when we arrived they told us a 25 minute wait which we we're fine with. We ordered the minestrone soup, a salad, a side of the white tuscan beans in olive oil, and the spinach with butter. We also got a 1.2 kilogram Bistecca alla Florentina. I had this steak two separate times in Italy before trying it here and it was good, but here it was just too chewy. I know they cook these rare but the texture of the meat was just a no go. The minestrone soup actually tasted exactly like a can of Progresso soup -- nothing special, but the texture of the ingredients was good and the veggies looked fresh. The spinach and beans were good, but I actually wish I ordered pasta instead of the steak because watching them bring pasta over to the other tables, I could tell it looked good. It's hit or miss with the steak sometimes and I guess I just got unlucky this night. read more

Amazing views and great staff at Le Veccie Mura. The filet with balsamic vinegar was amazing.

Amazing view from their terrace. Sit there (get a reservation definitely) and be aware they do charge 2 Euro per person to sit there as it is more popular than inside. Delicious array of appetizers, pastas, meat and other main course options. Pici (like a thick spaghetti) is good but go for the tagliatelle with the cinghale (boar) ragu sauce. Just incredible. Splurged on the bisteca Florentine, which is 1 kilo of unadulterated t-bone steak. Cooked rare per their suggestion it was seared and seasoned perfectly. Every bite was incredible and it was even better with a little olive oil drizzled on top. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth coming to when in San Gimignano. read more

Really is the restaurant with the best view in town. And the food is pretty amazing too without being super $$. This was definitely one of my husband and my favorite meals while being in San Gimignano. The bruschetta combo is always a good start to share, but there was definitely one that was particularly yummy with garlic and eggplant. As for the secondi, we loved the wild boar and the saffron pork. The meats were cooked perfectly and the sauces were very savory. There's so much more to the menu that we would've loved to try (such as the ribollita which we discovered and fell in love in San Gimignano) had we known about this place earlier so that we could've come back a few more times! And of course you have to get a bottle of vino. We went to this restaurant twice on our visit to San Gimignano, and it was fantastic each time. The first visit we ended up inside the restaurant because the beautiful patio overlooking the vineyards and countryside was booked out and we hadn't made reservations, but we loved the feeling inside as well. The food was excellent, and we loved the dessert sampler! Limoncello was in order as well (as always) and was cold and a refreshing end to a great meal. We ended our first visit making reservations for the patio on our last night in San Gimignano since it looked amazing. We came back a few nights later and had another wonderful experience. Excellent service, great food and wine, and the view was incredible!! Seriously...make reservations and have dinner on the patio. A wonderful memory of our trip! read more

This restaurant was our favorite dinner while touring Italy for two weeks, so much so that we went two nights in a row! While the view was what initially brought us here (the outside seating overlooks rolling Tuscan fields and multiple hills and villages, it's stunning) the service and dishes brought us back for our second night. We enjoyed the cheese plate with honey and jam featuring multiple local cheeses followed by the gnocchi with truffle cream and the carbonara. The gnocchi with truffle cream was hands down the best meal I had throughout our travels. The homemade gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the sauce was incredible. Our server was so friendly and attentive making the evening perfect. Absolutely worth seeking out while staying anywhere near San Gimignano! read more

We loved this restaurant so much that we went twice in a week! A really friendly, yet stylish looking restaurant just on the outskirts of the town, this place seems to be frequented by Italians and tourists alike, and when you've tasted the food, you can tell why. I had probably the best meal I had all week here - lamb baked with olive oil and rosemary, just so succulent and unctous that even now my mouth waters when I think about it. Also on the table was a massive 1kg T-Bone Bistecca Fiorentina: really tender and pink and only just managed between two hearty appetites. I had a taste and it melted in the mouth, just like the lamb. Desserts, too were well worth having. The tiramisu was lovely but my personal favourite was the semifreddo. And the icing on the cake? The delicious wine that was, ridiculously, only (I think) 7 euros per bottle. Half bottles were just 4 euros. Amazing. read more

This must be one of the best situated restaurants. Located in a beautiful medieval town. Great views over Tuscany. And the food: simply excellent. I had the deer which was succulent. One of the best if not THE BEST restaurant we visited on our entire trip (to San Gimignano, Sorrento, and Positano). BUTTTT sit on the terrace! You have to! While the interior of the restaurant is nice, the terrace is like an oasis. My husband and I both had the tagliatelle with chingale (mine was gluten free)-- order this! You will NOT be disappointed! As I mentioned, they have gluten free pasta-- which was also the best gluten free pasta I had while I was in Italy. This restaurant can't be beat between the food, the wait staff, the ambiance, the wine selection, and the terrace view! It's a can't miss! read more

This place was fabulous. The sweeping views of the Italian landscape matched perfectly with the delicious meal. If you go here, request a table by the railing in the outside garden area. You'll have an amazing view to enjoy with your meal. Make sure you go 30-40 minutes before sunset to enjoy some daylight! For the food, please start with the eggplant bruchetta. It was sooo good!! Le Vecchie Mura was chosen because of it's gluten free options. They offered homemade gf bread, pizzas and pasta. My gf pasta did not disappoint. My son also got the local specialty..wild boar. It was not gamey, and also surprisingly very tasty and extraordinarily tender. This was one of my son's top meals the two weeks he was in Italy. One of our parties veal with saffron disappointed a bit. He could barely taste the saffron. It could have been better. On the upside, they introduced us to pecorino cheese and honey. What a tasty combination to have as an appetizer. Lastly, La Vecchie Mura is very much off the beaten path mostly frequented by locals. Even though the street signs direct you to the middle of a residential neighborhood, trust the signs. This is the only restaurant for several blocks. read more

We ate here two nights in a row. It was amazing. Hands down the best cheese plate I have ever had. Every cheese was delicious and it came with honey, marmalade, and compote. Bottles of wine were 9 Euro and they were delicious. I had gnocchi arrabiatta and it was the best pasta I have ever had. I ate every last bite! Very stylish and modern in an old hill town. Food was good and outside seating had great views. Biggest disappointment was the service. I am pretty easy to please, however, in this case all but one of the people that helped us made us feel like we were a bother. Missed orders and didn't even ask if we would like additional drinks.
