Caffe Tlazo - Bread pudding with fruit - Sandwiches Near Me - Algoma, Wisconsin

Just sat down and Im immediately met with friendly faces and good mornings. I ordered the zombie on the beach coffee drink and the blend of flavors is so refreshingly unique its beyond description whomever came up with that coffee combo should get an award. For breakfast I had the Italian breakfast bake and Italian crepes ..... TOO GOOD. Wow! Food presentation is classy and the portions would fall in the medium sized zone. The bake has a great texture to it and so flavorful. The crepes were cooked very well and the berry filling was exceptional , I finished every last bite of everything I ordered because it was that delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and these dishes they made me leave with a smile. read more

Caffe Tlazo has amazing food and many choices for coffee, tea or other crafted beverage options. I enjoy both the indoor and outdoor seating options. A gem anywhere and we are lucky enough to have here in Algoma. My family loves to go there and my guests always enjoy too. They ask to go there again the next time they visit. read more

We've been going here for years. When we first discovered the place, no one but locals came here, so it was rarely busy. Coffee was nothing short of amazing, and the food was to-die-for! But, more and more people have discovered it, so it is ALWAYS busy. The coffee is still good, but the food has gone downhill. What used to taste fresh and homemade has become generic and tastes like it comes from a can. We still come here, but not as often. It's a shame... read more

They should have a sign that explains thats you order upfront and then seat yourselves. They had 4 ladies behind the counter, and 2 guys in the kitchen. They shouldve divided their staff up because it took over 30 minutes for us to get our food. With their large food menu, they should have more kitchen help to speed up the process. Alot of things could have been more efficient but in it had decent gluten free options for this small town. Large coffee menu too. read more

Best Panini I've ever had. I'll definitely stop by again next time we're on our way up to Fish Creek !!! So glad the Inn operator Ephriem told us about this place. read more

I really enjoyed my lunch here. The coffee was amazingly good! I had the Mediterranean wrap with chicken, apples, spinach, and raspberry vinaigrette. It was so good! There was a lot of room for seating. Even though they were very busy the service was very fast. I will definitely come back. read more

It has been a while since I've had to go back and forth about a rating. In some ways it gets 5's (service, ambiance) but the food is closer to a three. They need to cut their menu down, concentrate on what they do well, leave options for different eaters (vegetarians, paleo, whatever). You could do worse in Wisconsin and probably will though. read more

We have always stopped here for tea and coffee on our way up to Door County. This time we stopped for lunch. My companions had wraps, which they say were excellent. I had an egg salad sandwich. One of the best in a long time. The asparagus soup was top-notch. You order at the counter and your order is brought to your table. All of the people who worked there were friendly and helpful. Now I will get on my soapbox. Parents, do not let your children scream for a half hour. And do not let your children climb around on the furniture and the floor. What's up with that? But, I digress Cafee Tlazo is a really good pit stop for coffee and tea when you're traveling north (or south, for that matter). Now that we know how good the food is, it just gives us another reason to patronize this fine place. read more

We just happened upon this place heading to Dorr County and we were so glad we stopped. The menu's taste and variety could easily compete in a much larger market, and I was easily able to find something delicious and accommodating to a vegan, oil-free, gluten-free diet. Highly recommend. read more

There was nothing really wrong with anything - just the whole experience was meh. I had the tuna pita with a side salad and it was okay. I had a americano coffee and it was okay. We sat outside and it was fine. Unfortunately, the only memorable thing was that the dining room was incredibly warm. Maybe it is that they are out of step as this is just the beginning of their busy season - although it wasn't busy when we stopped in. Too bad. Reading some of the other reviews, it sees like we stopped in on an off day. read more

Had breakfast there. Food was delicious but no staff or customers were wearing masks or observing social distancing. Staff not wearing masks shows a total disregard for customers health and safety in the pandemic not to mention the staff's health will not return again till the pandemic is over read more

One of the best places to get a coffee drink!! Absolutely amazing! I also LOVE the handmade mugs that they serve their drinks in when you stay there! read more

We drove up Hwy 42 from Manitowoc to possibly walk along the beach and boardwalk but it was just to cold for everyone so we decided to find somewhere to eat. All restaurants in Algoma are closed during the day this time of year except this one! This place is amazing. Super friendly staff, tolerant of my three boys 9 and under, and delicious food. My mom and I had the Tuscan sausage and white bean soup (amazing), my dad had the deli roast beef sandwich which was also really good! My oldest son had the kids snack plate which was $5.95 and had turkey and ham, 6 slices of baguette, applesauce and carrots and ranch. My middle son had the Mac and cheese which also came with applesauce and carrots and ranch. I was really pleased with the kids meal quality! I also had a latte, which was better than any Starbucks latte you will have! read more

Went here with a group on our way back from Door county. There is a lot on the menu. And the items were on the order of what the Hipsters like. Prices weren't bad. I was able to find something I would like. I did have a calzone. It was good I've had better. The lemonade I had was good. I would have liked the grilled ham and cheese but it was only available on the kids menu (I did ask if I could get that). I'm picky when it comes to food and don't like all those things that come mixed together. The others in our group got sandwiches and wraps. They were good size and they all said they were good. Service was good and our food came at a reasonable time read more

Huge drink selection, good sandwiches... my one problem is the wait time. I have waited over 25 minutes for 2 drinks to go. I realize it's busy but that is just TOO long for such a small and simple order. Some times are faster than others but I've had this issue here one too many times. Good food and drinks but not worth the wait unfortunately. read more

I went here the other day and not a single person in the place was wearing a mask. Employees weren't wearing masks and neither were any of the customers. There were no social distancing enforcements and no glass shield when ordering. Very disappointed. read more

The correct category for this restaurant is really 'eclectic'. Hostess Jenelle Glime provides a wide variety of tasty world cuisine complimented by excellent coffees and desserts all at a reasonable price. Well worth the stop on your way to Door County... read more

It started to storm as we were out biking. We decided to go in and seek shelter. Meanwhile, we ordered two latte's. We waited, and then we asked again, if it was coming. Usually they bring it out speedy fast. We waited ten more minutes, and we asked again. They then said we would get it soon. They brought it out five minutes later. Usually we would have just left but it was storming out. read more

Went searching for breakfast in Algoma and was very fortunate to find this place. Walking in you might think it is only a coffee, tea, and smoothie joint but you would be wrong. Their menu is quite extensive with many breakfast and lunch options. I ordered the veggie quiche. Possibly the best quiche ever. Came with a bowl of fresh berries and a big dollop of cream, as well as a muffin. Way more than I normally eat but ate every bite. Will definitely go back. read more

Our group is a vegetarian & meat mixed group of friends, this was a perfect place for all of us. Fabulous coconut curry soup, grilled veggie hummus wrap, and various sandwiches. We would all definitely choose to go back! Excellent stop and atmosphere! read more

This quaint little place in this cute little town is a favorite of mine. They have great creative hot drinks, along with wonderful tasty sandwiches, and different beer. They are not just sandwiches though, they are all so different, creative, and they've all been good so far. I love it when they have live music. Just a cute little coffee sandwich shop with some accoustic live music, it can't get any better. read more

We recently had a small memorial service for my mother and the family wanted to get together afterward. Caffe Tlazo has an indoor patio which they allowed us to reserve for the occasion. This in itself was a wonderful surprise, but when we arrived, it just got better. The food was very good, even soy lattes for the dairy allergic family member, not to mention great salads, soups, sandwiches and desserts. The service was efficient and friendly and the prices are very reasonable. While we are originally from Algoma, we had not been back for a number of years and were very excited to find Caffe Tlazo. The owner gave us a bit of history about the place and also introduced us to some great coffee mugs that were also made in Algoma. It's great that local products are being used. read more

I am rating this 5 star, frankly, not because it is gourmet cuisine or even for the tastiness of the food they serve but for the over all experience. I am not particularly fond of classic middle america American food or even the typical Italian American cuisine.. I have travelled to Italy and have tried authentic Italian food. Therefore, while reviewing American Italian restaurants as, I try to be unbiased to my personal preferences and do not compare them to those in Rome - so that fellow yelpies can get a more accurate idea as to what the experience would be. Food is "typical Wisconsin" - not particularly gourmet but generous portions. Taste is avegate.. Hospitality is again, typical Wisconsin - very warm and welcoming. The location is very nice, down town Algoma. The interior decor is quite lovely. Service is superb. People are super nice - as seem the customers. This could well be "Mayberry"! Places like these remind a first generation immigrant like me, why I migrated to Wisconsin/USA. The goodness of its people (and its financial success of course!). Back to food - Well, given how much I liked the restaurant, its service and its people, I feel bad to write this but the food not bad but not exactly amazing. I disliked both their soups - pea soup and some kind of chili type of soup. We ordered several entrées, just to try. One of the people in our family liked the chili soup very much, I didn't. Another liked the Reuben sandwich and it was just "ok" to me. The prosciutto sandwich was not that great - the prosciutto was too salty - I prefer the prosciutto from Sendiks and Glorioso's - especially the authentic Italian Parma prosciutto. The Canadan bacon chicken sandwich was, good. Bread served with the soup, was very good. Hearty bread.. Add butter and it was quite tasty. If you enjoy "typical Wisconsin food", you might give this 5 stars over all.. read more

10 of my family members had a wonderful lunch at the charming Caffe. All the Panni's were made of very fresh ingredients. Soups were homemade and flavorful. I had a side salad that was also delicious.Everything is made to order so service was a bit slow, but well worth the wait. Had a cucumber lemonade that was very refreshing. Great find in a town that is a bit sleepy. read more

Love their drink menu and the food is always fantastic! I went here at least once a week when I was working in Algoma. It is such a treat!

Pros I came in around 5:00pm on a Thursday when I thought a lot of people would be in. I got an Italiano and so did my little sister! The front barista was perfect! I got my drink within 5 minutes of waiting! Cons I waited for 45 mins for my food and was finished with my drink by the time the food came out. The problem I saw was there were only 4 other people eating and they had their food by the time I got my drink. Maybe they forgot about me? I asked the barista and she went and checked for me, I got my food withing the next 5 minutes. read more

Wonderful little cafe, we come for breakfast every time we are in town. The cinnamon rolls are so delicious. Definitely worth checking out in my favorite town in Wisconsin. read more

We absolutely loved both the coffee and the food here. We were disappointed in the service since 1) they couldn't figure out how to ring up a bowl of soup and a side salad for one of the people in our party 2) I ordered bacon with my quiche and got sliced ham 3) they were out of two flavors of lemonade another person in our party wanted to try. 4) for my friend that ordered a side salad, she ordered ranch and french dressing and they gave her ranch and thousand island. The food was absolutely amazing and would have been even better if our orders were correct. I highly recommend the red velvet frap :) read more
