I've had better pizza else where, the dough was good the sauce was bland and little to no spices used. We just ordered 2 slices and a coke to try the place out. The service was Really poor. We waited 15mins before someone approached our table. He brought bread and then left. No eye contact no word spoken just bamb bread and gone.I saw him again and made eye contact He spoke to a young girl and she glanced our way then kept walking. I was about to leave then thought I would give her one more minute. She came by and said she was sorry and had a lot of things going on. We found this was a new server because she messed up another tables order and the owner said it was because she was new there. Overall the restaurant really needs better service. No one smiled or engaged the patrons unless they needed to. The food was okay but on the bland side. Not really worth my time to come back to. read more

Absolutely ridiculous that you raise the price on a sub to 4 cents less than the same item in an entree. $15.95 for an eggplant parm sub is not right especially when the entree comes with at least a salad. It's too bad because I love that sub and I will never order it again from here. read more

I had heard so much about Caffe Positano on the American Adversaries radio show and other local radio shows that I just had to try it. My son, daughter-in-law, husband and I, wanted to get together for a nice dinner and we decided to choose this restaurant because it was close to my sons house. It did not disappoint. Food was awesome. Got the chicken franchese, wonderful taste. Bf got a call one, was huge! But the service was awful. The waitress took our drink order, took our food order, brought us food, then brought the check. You may ask: what is wrong with this? I ran out of water wayyyyy before my food came. She just dropped off my food, didn't stop to see if it was correct or say anything. Just drol and run. Had she stayed a split second she would have seen my outstretched hand in the sign of "hold on". She then brought my boyfriend his pizza, and in the same fashion dropped and ran, I said "may I have more water." But she was so fast she didn't hear me. Again, food was great, not cheap, but not expensive. This is the second time I have been there and both times for poor service. They have a guy playing jazz instruments. It was nice. read more

As always their food is outstanding and there was enough of my Gorgonzola chicken to have another meal for the next day. Their garlic knot rolls are hot and soooo delicious. To quickly summarize, meh. Service was acceptable, employees were courteous and friendly, and the dining area was clean. But nothing to write home about. Would second other reviewers' comments that the white pizza was extremely oily and not much flavor to it. It is definitely the worst white pizza performance I've had in Orlando, and I've had it at quite a few places. It was edible, just not memorable. My wife had the Eggplant parm, which looked nicely prepared, not overly breaded and was sauced and cheezed very well. I haven't had a better filet anywhere else in Orlando. Requested as medium, it was prepared and precisely at 145 degrees F, and melted in my mouth. The Montepresuto sauce with red and black peppercorns, garlic, thyme, and brandy sauce puts it over the top. My wife had the stuffed salmon with crab and shrimp lightly layered in a gorganzola sauce. Although this place is only 10 min from me, I forget about it all the time! From the moment you walk in, you get that Italian mom and pop feel, not commercial at all which is great! More authenticity. They have a mixture of booths and tables. They also have a back room area fit for a larger party. As for food, I've only had their pizza a few times and it does not disappoint. My go to is always their pasta dishes. I'm a pasta kinda girl. Last time I went I had their gnocchi which was soooo good! You can tell their tomato sauce is made in house and not out of a can. I've also had their eggplant which is another great hit! My husband had a custom made calzone which was huge! So if you're hungry, definitely order it. Also great for sharing! Café Positano is one of those neighborhood restaurants that is a true gem. I have been going there for years and each time, starting with the excellent service, from the meals on the menu to their specials, it is the finest of Italian cuisine. After a recent visit and a great meal (which was too much for me to finish), our waiter Tony ran out to my car to bring me the rest of my meal which I left on the table in a container. This is what excellent service is all about. From their salads with their homemade dressing, to amazing appetizers (I recommend the shrimp buona sera) to their entrees (everything from spaghetti and meatballs, to filet mignon), it is one of the best dining experiences in all of central Florida. If you are looking for a fine dining experience, this is not the place. But if you are looking for a comfortable family friendly eating experience, this should be on your short list. The house dressing is a creation that takes some getting used to. It isn't my favorite, and if you feel daring, ask for it on the side. It is like a pureed raw vegetable vinaigrette. There are other items like the Alfredo and the homemade pizza that will make you want to come back over and over. If you are a Caprese salad lover, try the Brushetta pizza. Food is great but don't get drinks... Megan the bartender seems the only one not wearing a mask, pouring drinks, walking around, talking, and sniffling loud. Gross. If you don't know how to treat your customers, don't be in the service industry. Spoke to a David "pizza manager" and he single handedly made sure I never return to that place. I asked for a half and half pizza that apparently was impossible for them to make. Fair enough, but when I asked if 2 small pizzas where comparable in size to a large his answer was 'a small pizza is comparable to a small.' Really? Intolerably horrible attitude, condescending, and talked over me the entire conversation. If that's the type of manager you hire and that's the norm for treating customers you should be out of business, no matter how good your pizza could be. read more

We played the game of "let's see what is still open so we can grab dinner" on Christmas Eve at 8pm and ended up at Caffe Positano right before they closed. I feel bad being a last minute customer but they were very accommodating. I was slightly taken aback by the prices on the menu. I was not expecting to spend so much on a simple pasta or chicken meal. I decided to go another route and order a calzone. Our server was really friendly (way more friendly than I would be working on Christmas Eve) and made us feel welcome. There was also a jazz musician playing Christmas music which was a nice touch. The calzone came out and it was massive. I guess they only have one size option available (there are small and large for the Stromboli). I was pleasantly surprised by how full it was (some places skimp on toppings). The downfall: the tomato sauce. It kind of tasted like condensed tomato soup. No real Italian seasoning seemed present. Seasoning makes or breaks everything! Would I return? Maybe. But I've had better Italian for cheaper. If I did come back, I'd pack a bottle of spices to bring with me! read more

So after living in apopka my entire life and seeing this place here for as long as I can remember, my brother and I thought we'd finally give this place a shot. The food has to be good if this place has survived for this long right? Wrong. We went here on 2 different occassions. the first time i ordered a pizza. it wasn't terrible but it wasn't mind blowing either, a little on the greasy side. my brother some sort of pasta dish that was just okay. the calamari was decent. Our server was a young lady who was very good and attentive. The second time my brother wanted to go because he was craving calamari. I was undecided and the server suggested the balsamic chicken. it was atrocious. the balsamic sauce literally looked like baby diarrhea. don't worry, i'll post a photo. i couldn't even try to muster my way through eating a third of the plate. the only things that were even edible were the vegetables and potatoes. my brother ordered lobster ravioli that he said was difficult to eat after a few bites because it was bland and boring. the soups of the day were also lackluster and under-seasoned. Our server was some older man who clearly was NOT happy to be there. horrible horrible service. sadly the only thing good about this place is the free bread and butter. read more

The food here is really excellent. Unfortunately, the attention to detail is severely lacking. The last two times we have ordered, they got it wrong. First time they forgot to bring us our pizza, three large pies! This last time, they forgot the salads, bread and lemonade. When we called to have them come back, they forgot to add the salad dressing. Very frustrating!! Like I said, great food if they could actually get it right. read more

Also, at one time, we placed a large order and when we got home, we realized they forgot two main courses. Came here for a friend's rehearsal dinner and was prepared to not eat anything because it was family style and everything (and I mean everything) was either meat or covered in cheese. The bride told me to order off the menu and not wanting to be difficult I asked the waiter if I could have some plain pasta and sauce. Soon the manager came over and asked if he could make me something special that would meet my needs -- in less than 10 minutes I had a delicious pasta Primavera with fresh vegetables. I'm going to update my review after giving Positano's another chance to "wow" me. And yet again, another ho hum, just OK experience. The restaurant feels worn and dingy. The ceiling tiles are dusty and water stained, and the tile grout is black. Paint is chipped on old chairs, menus have food bits on them and booths are slightly sticky. The interior definitely needs a thorough scrubbing (and fresh paint) from top to bottom. Service is hit or miss. Our server was nice enough but had no idea what any of the specials were and had to go into the kitchen and bring out a notepad with the specials written on it (she read directly from the pad). I ordered the cod special, my hubby the fillet. We also ordered the calamari app. I do like the warm rolls brought out with a yummy combination of oil, balsamic and shredded parm. Our calamari was good- light and crispy without being rubbery. The dressing on my Caesar salad had a nice tang but the lettuce had brown spots on it. His steak was cooked nicely but for what is was seemed overpriced at $26. My cod had a nice flavor but the side of veggies looked and tasted straight out of the freezer. Yuck, why bother with these sad veggies when there is already a salad with the meal? The kitchen messed up my order too- I'd subbed pasta for potatoes but got potatoes anyway. To my servers credit she brought out a side of pasta. As we dined we watched this place fill up. Most of the people dining here were older folks. The food has a mass produced feel to it- the frozen veggies as example. There is no love that goes into the preparation and it shows. When entrees all come out with the same sides that is a sign of laziness. When a wonderful Italian place like Il Paradiso (Altamonte) goes out of business and a place like Positano is booming something is wrong! read more

We were so excited when our friends invited us to this restaurant. We had heard a lot about it, but never went because it is a littler far from our home. When we first entered, noticed they have two areas, one, casual dining and the other, elegant dinning. Asked about the elegant one, and one of the waiters told me you just have to ask to be seated there if you want to be in a more private/quieter area. The menu is the same as well as prices. The only restriction is no pizza is offered on that side. The food was fantastic, every dish ordered was enjoyed. Our waiter was another story. He was a little hyper, and felt a little confused. I ordered a pasta dish that is offered in two different sizes, small and large. I am not a big eater so I ordered the small portion of it, he asked me what salad dressing I wanted, I asked him, does it come with a salad? (the reason I asked was because of the price I was paying $9.99 for the small portion) he responded, soup or salad. When my dish comes to the table was HUGE, and I asked, is this the small portion? Here is the kick! he says to me, this is what you ordered, I said I ordered the small portion, everyone on the table nooded since they all heard the previous conversation I had with him about portion size and salad. He continue saying, "well this is the size everyone orders, the small one is usually order for kids"... WHAT???!!! but he also said, don't worry I will take care of that. The bill came with the big portion charged and also a charge for the salad he had previously said was included. When I question, his answer was... The pasta dishes don't come with a salad. At that point, I did not want to continue talking to this guy, making me feel like a fool in front of my friends, I just paid and left. My wife and I recently moved to central Florida and we're always looking to try the local flare. After reading several positive reviews we decided to give Cafe Positano a shot. Atmosphere? Good - busy and bustling with Saturday night energy. The service? Our particular waiter acted as if he could care less about our experience and seemed more interested in getting us out ASAP. The food? Admittedly, while neither of us had a pizza the restaurant seemed focused on its pizza with a broad and creative selection to choose from. My wife had the gnocchi and described it as "Ok. " I had the Chicken Marsala and would describe it the very same way - nothing special, or nothing I couldn't create in my own kitchen with no training in Italian cooking. So, glad we tried it. American Italian fare. We dine here a lot so it has to be good. I have had everything from the Antipasta to pizza and everything in between. The last time I had one of the seafood dishes, and it was divine. I always get the garlic rolls because, they are delicious. It is against my better judgment to get them every time, but they are so good I just can't help myself.
