The drive to this cafe from home in Calabasas is 25 minutes through the canyons. I always escape to Malibu for a break and this place was worth it. It's modern, clean, well lit, and airy. Best half-calf almond latte I've had in a long time. Managed to get a couple of reading hours in and the flow of customers were constantly in flux. The staff is young, but very polite. There is seating inside with plenty of natural light and outdoor seating in the back where I imagine it's a relaxing space in the shade on a sunny So Cal day. Quaint and quiet is how I would describe this place. I needed to get some work done and this was the perfect spot! They have a very friendly staff and cool ambiance. I usually order a hazelnut cappuccino when I go to coffee shops but they were out of the hazelnut flavoring so they suggested I try vanilla. I hesitate posting this because I don't want longer lines, but their roast and extraction and steamed milk makes craft coffee that is off-the-charts. My cure for chocolate craving is their richly-flavored espresso in a Macchiato, Marrochino, or Cortado (even without added chocolate...amazing). The real deal. Came here based on the rave reviews but was disappointed to find out they didn't have WiFi. My plan was to come here and read, but with my AT&T service having no connection between the canyons and the beach, and this cafe not having WiFi, it made that impossible. I got the hot cocoa, because I loved that they still made it decorative with foam art. But it was so chalky! The aesthetic of the place is nice, but it definitely attracts a lot of snobs...idk if it's just kids from Malibu that are rich and preppy, or maybe the Pepperdine community, but that was also a bit of a turn off. Great cafe. I was impressed with the staff, spaciousness, no rushing, and quality of coffee. We popped in on our drive home on the PCH. We were both glad we did and will return. Most coffee shops have a certain air of pretentiousness but Caffe Luxxe really took the cake for elitist establishments. (Pause for 5 seconds to go watch the Jeffrey's SNL skit... you get the idea). No wifi as a "company policy" was all fine and noble until AT&T decided it wasn't going to work inside the cafe. We ordered an iced mocha and an iced latte and both were okay, though hard to taste through the soggy paper straws. The latte tasted like a much higher milk to coffee ratio than I'm used to - it tasted more like coffee flavored milk than an espresso-based drink. While the decor and setting were great, we couldn't get over the over-priced coffee drinks and the less than enthused staffers. read more

The reason they don't have wifi; 'we encourage our patrons to enter act' AKA we can't afford wifi so we came up with the most hipster bullshit excuse to deny customers a basic coffee shop service. I am regular in Malibu, but this was my first time here. Really good coffee drinks at a really cool location! Their service is 5 stars, very friendly. They have a huge variety of coffee drinks. My husband and I decided to try out Cafe Luxxe Malibu for the first time this Sunday afternoon. 1st off they have Beautiful tasting coffees. My favorite was a gorgeous cafe Nicco which is espresso, cream, candied orange and cinnamon. Served with a beautiful heart on top.... It was amazing! My husband had a lovely hand crafted Ethiopian coffee and my 4 yr old a fresh squeezed lemonade. The pastries were elegant and delicious. We tried the sinful apple turnover which was flaky and buttery and slightly crisp on the outside and the apples fresh and not too sweet, also the vegan banana chocolate nut muffins were Ahhhh-Maaazing...chocolatey, moist, yummmmy! Finally, I have to mention the outstanding attentive service from the friendly knowledgeable barristas, Johnny and Eric, who made suggestions and let us taste test a few coffees and overall went above and beyond to make sure that we were "STOKED" about our choices..and we were!
