I'll be honest. I was not a very big fan of this place. I came here to meet up with some friends while we kill some time. I ordered a simple caffe latte which ended up taking very long time, with other orders that were placed after mine coming in first. I'd like to say I am patient but when I had seen others getting their drink and I hadn't gotten mine after some time, I went and asked. They told me that mine would be next but I was not convinced that they remembered my order. And well...it was honestly not anything I would have waited that long for anyway. I really wished I liked it more. Also there's some outside seating and the hours are good, so at least there is that! I'd say the vibe was kind of simple which is not a bad thing, I guess. Can't believe we didn't even know this was here till yesterday. We always go to Broad Street Oyster down the street and always thought this part was a dead end. I guess we never really paid any attention but there's a whole shopping center over here! Beautiful location with the perfect weather. We got lucky with parking, it's typically hard to find parking in this area in general. We walked over and surprisingly no other customers so we went straight to ordering an Iced Nola and Brown Sugar Pecan Scone! Somehow the first time I tried this chain was over at the century city mall and I absolutely loved it! Idk if this location just didn't make it as good and it wasn't as sweet n creamy as I liked but it was still good and drinkable. But I was over it halfway through. Still, not many coffee places around so it's nice that this one is here. Perhaps I'll try something else on the menu and may update my review. Also, the workers were busy chatting while making my drink so I wonder if they just didn't put enough creamer or something? We also had to wait for the young lady to finish her conversation with another worker before I paid because we wanted to add the scone to my transaction which took a few minutes. Great location right next Whole Foods in malibu! They have a wonderful outdoor seating section, no indoor seating. The service is usually really great at this cafe! I got an iced matcha latte today and I havnt been to blue bottle in a long time and i guess for a good reason. The matcha was such a light green and i could only taste milk unfortunately . I got a hot matcha tea and a butternut squash scone, both of which were really great. Loved how strong they make the matcha. They had a great selection of pastries from Bakers Kneaded, and there were some light bites as well. The service was efficient and friendly, and the vibes here were very sunny and open. There are 8 or so tables outside, none inside. They also had some seasonal drinks that I'd love to try! Open 630-630 each day, parking at this bustling Malibu center can be hit or miss. But then once you see the fit Blue Bottle Coffee shop, it just beckons you in. I believe them to have some of the best coffee in the game. That NOLA is so smooth and for a cold brew, you don't usually get it silky like that. I'm such a fan! This location has great staff, plus indoor and outdoor seating. Even cooler here? Oof. I ordered a hot spiced Nola latte...and what I got was an iced regular. Ok, no worries. I have no issue very politely asking for what I ordered for. The second time I got a hot regular...at which point I gave up. Partially because I didn't really feel like standing around waiting, and partially because while waiting for the second one, I noticed that the "off" ambiance I felt wasn't just a fluke ... They fixed a few other drinks in that time, sometimes saying the drink name, but often not. Like just setting the drink down, zero eye contact, zero asking for your name...nada. Aloof AF. And I realize I'm in Malibu, but damn, y'all. And the coffee? Weak af. But points from this non-dairy gal for making everything non-dairy so at least I don't have to worry about that read more

I remember going to the original BB in SF and was impressed then, and it's good to see that with all the success and expansion that they are still a reliable, solid option. I got the seasonal matcha latte with orange blossom. It was the perfect amount of floral. Not sweet (good!), but also not grassy enough, which is how I like my matcha. I guess I was in an orange blossom mood, because I got the pistachio orange blossom tea cake with it, which was moist and flavorful, the pistachio and orange blossom both coming out at the right levels. It's tough to maintain quality with such expansion, but BB does it. Good job! read more

Listen, the Matcha was fine. In fact, it was actually pretty good. I liked it. The issue came from the people working there. I ordered a large Matcha with cold foam, and they gave me a small Matcha without cold foam. I said "oh excuse me I'm sorry I ordered a large one!" and they proceeded to not say anything, pour my drink into the bigger cup, put cold foam on top and just kind of give it to me without saying any sort of apology. Listen, I have worked in customer service I get it. I've been working in Malibu part-time recently and I think I fit in quite well with the financially privileged. I too, exude a relaxed, post-bohemian confidence that I balance alongside repeated existential crises, unremitting paranoia, and an unhealthy overreliance on a motley series of professional and unprofessional therapists. My stops at Blue Bottle Coffee in the Whole Foods plaza has been a pleasant respite from my work. I run a dog waste removal business and my main clients are pet psychics in the Malibu area. The work is not that difficult, but most all of the psychics tell me that the dogs don't respect me as a human because I'm moving their business around. I must admit that was hard to hear. My brother and I owned very successful dog waste removal businesses in the Inland Empire for some years until we got into a horrible fight over our company names- "Scoopy Doo" and "Crappy Doo" - with Warner Brothers' lawyers. My brother got out of the business and started doing something less glamorous, but I continued. The new company name that I tried was "Poopy Love." It didn't really take off, however, because my clients weren't comfortable with the signage on my work truck being parked in front of their houses. So, now I work exclusively by word-of-mouth in the pet psychic and horse medium communities in the greater Malibu area. Blue Bottle Coffee's location is a small but bright space that offers wonderful coffee and espresso roasts, a limited number of pastries, and a very nice seating area just outside of their glass storefront. Hojicha latte with oat milk is one of the tastiest drinks I've tried from here! Blue Bottle Coffee is located in the same plaza as Whole Foods. There is a free parking lot and you can also find street parking on the side. The design of this store is artsy and modern. The inside doesn't have any place for you to sit but they did put a few small tables and chairs for you to sit down on. I just took my drink and got into the car while driving to see some other places. Found out about this location from Yelp and I'm glad I stopped by! They have different hot, cold beverages that I think you'll find pretty tasty. They have all these timers for certain drinks that people order and you'll just have to wait a few minutes. read more

I always enjoy Blue Bottle! This one's a nice location in Malibu, just off of the PCH and near the Malibu farmers market on Sundays. Parking lot is shared with Whole Foods and other restaurants. It's close to but technically not a part of the Malibu Country Mart, which is kind of nice in my opinion because it doesn't get as crazy busy in this parking lot based on my experience. Sometimes there's a line, sometimes there isn't. Ordering and pickup at the entrance during COVID. The trick to getting out quickly is ordering the New Orleans iced coffee. Blue Bottle Coffee recently opened on Civic Center Dr off Cross Creek in Malibu. It's a welcomed addition to the area. Free parking in the surrounding lot. My first Blue Bottle cup of coffee was in DTLA next to the famous and iconic Bradbury Building which was seen in many films ie Bladerunner. That New Orleans coffee was hot, good, a tad bitter. Later ordered the iced version and liked it more. Subsequently have had BB coffee mostly in Beverly Hills and Century City and usually order an iced New Orleans with oat milk to mitigate any bitterness. This shop in Malibu is fantastic. With competitor Starbucks on the other side of the lot, which is often busy, crowded and messy...and TBH I'm not a big fan of Starbucks, the coffee quality had diminished and the staff's negative attitude, with negative racial profiling reported in the news is just a Pass for me and a big No! Have always had a pleasant experience at all Blue Bottle including here in Malibu. Currently, with covid, the interior and exterior area for seating remain close. Staff wore face masks and gloves, social distancing practiced and hand sanitizers available. Cool Blue bottle merchandise on display and some baked goods available. You order outside with contactless payment and your name is called when your drink is ready for pick up. I ordered my favorite, an iced 3 espresso shot New Orleans with oat milk and it was really Jolty Good :) The fresh Malibu breeze and a sip of this drink was an awakening jolt :) Most Definitely Recommend! read more

The staff were super polite and friendly, and it was an incredible in-store experience. The interior is clean and well organized and aesthetically pleasing as well. They also sell merchandise like cups and even books which is quite unique. Now, let's talk about the food. The coffee was absolutely INCREDIBLE. 100 stars, and coming from a coffee addict like me, that says a lot. It was not bitter at all, and had a smooth, silky taste to it. The free oat milk was great as well. The avocado toast was so good as well. The bread was crunchy but also fluffy and the avocado was well seasoned, maybe lacking a little salt. They're cashless so make sure you bring your credit card. There's also an option to order ahead online if you want to just pick up your drink and go. Came here on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast and drink. However, our stop at Blue Bottle was anything but quick. We ordered coffee, hot green tea, avocado toast, pumpkin pound cake, rosemary cornmeal scone, and the butternut squash galette via the Blue Bottle app. There was a huge backlog of orders and people waiting for their drinks and food. It seemed the staff were getting overwhelmed with both the in person orders as well as the app orders. When we finally got our food and drinks after a long wait, I found my tea was just lukewarm rather than piping hot. The food was just okay. Because the city is such a peaceful city, you'll be able to relax and sunbathe in the weather and get a glimpse of what a daily life in Malibu looks like! This location is located near the Malibu State Lagoon Park and it is in the same plaza as Whole Foods -- it's very clean and well-maintained just like your typical Malibu vibe. I ordered my usual sweet latte and it was absolutely amazing. They don't have indoor seating and that was not problematic at all because you'll want to sit outside. Lucky for us, there's two sides of outdoor seating so you can face the side where the sun is up, or you can also sit in the shaded area. They also have Tesla Superchargers so you can recharge your car here and recharge yourself! Blue Bottle is perfect in this city and if you're driving by the Pacific Coast Highway and need a pick-me-up, stop by this place for sure! read more

I wish there were one of these closer to me! I love this coffee! This morning got their black cardamom latte hot with oat milk and it's definitely the best cardamom type latte I've ever had in my life. The absolutely most perfect amount of flavoring. I drink a lot of lattes and half of them I really can't tell what they are - featured flavors get drowned out so easily by espresso. Not this one! It's just perfect and if you've never tried cardamom or claim to not like it I really think you need to give this one a try. I promise - it's delicious! Got their breakfast sandwich as well - was so so so good. A little expensive for what you get but I'll gladly play the few extra bucks for all the flavor! At least if I'm going to spend a lot it tastes amazing! Highly recommend this sandwich if you want something savory with your coffee. This time I wanted to change it up and try a winter drink, so I orders the winter date latte, oh and I usually want hot drinks specially caffeinated drink. I got the cold one, since I wasn't sure I asked the guy is it better cold or warm? He said cold. I tell you, if I stuck to my usual I would have been a happy camper.
