    Lavender matcha
    Kim T.

I was debating between a coffee and matcha when I looked at their menu beforehand. Once I saw that they had a lavender matcha, I knew I had to try it. I really liked the lavender they used but found it to be overpowering to the matcha. I was able to try my friend's coffee and I definitely enjoyed that more. I would definitely come back but maybe for the coffee!

Everyone always says Alfred Coffee has some of the best drinks in town! And they aren't wrong. It's one of those coffee shops that I can go to different locations and the drinks are always solid. I popped into the Malibu location this morning for an Iced Matcha Pumpkin Spice Latte. Didn't know that was a thing? It so is and it is so delicious. Absolutely loved it! This location is great because it has a nice big parking lot around a lot of stuff. It was quite busy for a weekday 7:30am, as well. I used the app to pre-order and my drink was ready right on time. I think my only critique was I didn't receive any greeting when I entered the shop, which is fine, but when I went up to grab my drink & thank the team - no one acknowledged me. Bizzare to not respond to someone saying thank you, but...it was early? haha Either way, I've been to this Alfred Coffee before and I will surely be back to it again!

A cute little coffee shop at this outdoor shopping mall. They have merch like most coffee stores these days. We tried matcha oat milk with honey, cold brew with double shot of espresso. Both were delicious and strong enough. Service was very friendly and warm!

This was probably one of the best coffees I have had in a long time, and I wish we had it on the east coast. The cloud coffee was great, it had a really sweet and creamy foam on top.

Tried their famous vanilla iced latte! Nothing out of the ordinary but good and refreshing. Coffee shop is in a nice outdoor shop so really cool to grab coffee and sit down or hang out.

Came here first thing in the a.m. as I wanted something hot to offset the chilly weather this close to the beach. . I had been to their other location in Brentwood and this one is smaller outside, bigger inside. There are some small metal frame tables outside on the patio; otherwise it's clean and well lit inside the café. . They have a merchandise wall complete with tea blends, vanilla syrup and a rechargeable whisk. Service was steady. It picked up in foot traffic the second I stepped in there right around 7:30am. . My work gives me free croissants for breakfast so I got an 8 ounce hot chocolate with macadamia milk to supplement it. They kept me warm, but I wish it was sweeter. Should've got a sweetener. What I really like about this place is that they don't charge extra for alternative milk. The lid for my hot chocolate was faulty though, it spilled several times all over my uniform so I took it off to finish the drink before work. . It's a great local coffee shop. Perfect for a day start in Malibu.

Came here on a whim because we wanted to check out Kith. Super cute shopping area. But this place was over hyped. Disgusting coffee. I literally threw mine away because I couldnt enjoy it. Tasted like it was watered down. Not. Worth. It. LOL. It did not taste good despite it being stirred. The photo- is just a photo because I took the photo before I drank it :) (The camera drinks first.)

The food is consistently delicious: fresh, seasonal, and beautifully presented, with options that are both comforting and creative. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and everything moves at the perfect pace so you can actually enjoy lingering over a long brunch. Pair it with a cocktail (or two) and that view, and it's hard to beat. It's truly one of my favorite weekend spots in Malibu for a brunch that feels both special and effortless.

This week we hit our limit, and are thinking of canceling our membership. The waiters act as though you should be serving them and it usually takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes for someone to arrive at your table. Meals are drawn out due to the lack of service. The front desk hostess' could not be more unpleasant, dismissive, and rude. Also, the food is simply OK, nothing special, and priced exceptionally high for what it is. In terms of ambiance, the furniture is stained, mildewy, and terribly kept. The large dining room remains empty throughout the day since they don't allow computers, and everyone is crammed into a small area where "computers are allowed". Also the employees take up one of the best (more private) tables in the house with their computers and coffee (stunned by this). I spoke to a once prominent member who also canceled his membership for these same reasons. It's truly so sad to see a place with such potential, lack such basic needs.

Today, it was Pura Vida in Malibu, located in the same commercial plaza as Madhappy / Pantry, Frankies Bikinis, Be Kind Studios (pilates), and a soon-to-be Wally's. I really liked Pura Vida because of it's "health and wellness" angle. In re-reviewing the menus here, I noticed several items that were over 1,000 calories - not quite as health-conscious as I remember, but I knew it had to be just as delicious. Thankfully, I was right. I had the Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl which comes with a generous helping of avocado, cucumber, arugula, green onions / scallions, radish, spicy mayo, cilantro rice, and raw tuna. For about $35 with tax and tip, this was a rather hearty lunch that two people could easily share. I didn't mix it, as I prefer to eat ingredients separately, and received a soy ginger sauce on the side to complement the flavors. My friend opted for the Spicy Salmon Wrap, made with a specifically gluten-free wrap. That option comes with cooked salmon (which she found to be dry), edamame, carrots, avocado, and cilantro rice - as well as a side of fruit and the same soy ginger dressing/sauce I had. She wasn't wow'ed by the flavor, which may be because of the wrap, or the gluten-free nature of the preparation, or the salmon itself. The exterior patio seating is new, fun, and reminds me a bit of the La La Land coffee shop in Calabasas. Gorgeous place to have brunch or lunch outdoors and soak in some Malibu overcast. Service was efficient, personable, and polite. Plenty of staff to handle the crowd on a Saturday afternoon. Food came out quickly and tables were bussed in a timely manner. Free parking is available in the back lot, or else in the underground garage. There's also valet parking for $8 (all-day) toward the front.

We waited for our table despite having a reservation, but it was only a few minutes. The real waiting started once we sat down. We ordered several appetizers but they came out sporadically. I had to flag down the waiter to get more water after everyone was empty. It had probably been 30 minutes since he checked on us. The entrees came out about an hour after we ordered. When it came time for dessert, I asked if it would take awhile and we contemplated stopping at another restaurant for dessert. The hostess said they only had one cook in the kitchen but she would ask them to rush the dessert. They comped the pazooki due to the long wait throughout the meal. That was nice I guess. BUT, they charged us 18% tip included despite the terrible service, thirsty table and long wait times. Luckily for the staff, it was quite slow in the restaurant which was probably because the phone rang unanswered throughout most of our meal. People kept checking their cell phones because the restaurant phone had the same ring tone as a FaceTime call. The management at this restaurant should be embarrassed. If you decide to go here, pack a lunch and bring your water bottle. Maybe they'll let you have a picnic on the patio next to the ocean.
