The most amazing food on the island. Best breakfast spot in all of south Kona! We tried three different coffee and all three were delicious. A hidden gem. The family of this family owned business are very sweet and kind.

Friendliest staff and perfect spot on the balcony to view the coast from up high. Food was excellent and coffee to die for. The geckos were an added bonus and super friendly.

Egger Florian and Coconut Mocha. Simple yet delicious (and the fruit was fresh!)
Matt S.

Their coconut mocha iced coffee was delicious and the Florian Egger was simple yet flavorful. I came here because of the good reviews, and they weren't lying. The terrace seating is a really nice touch. Coffee and a view of the ocean. Very serene. The young woman who took my order was polite and brought out my drink and food quickly. Definitely try their white chocolate blackberry iced coffee. It's sweet, but not overly so. The blackberry is such a nice touch!

Peaceful little breakfast spot with seating overlooking the ocean. Has lots of breakfast, lunch, and pastry options and everything was very good! Would recommend stopping in or having a meal!

Latte - 12 oz. With oat milk.

Great little breakfast place. Cute inside and nice deck outside with a view of the ocean. Very friendly staff. We had lattes, with oat milk and they were delish. Also shared the Mediterranean bagel, cream cheese with olive tapenade, which was very good. We will definitely come back.

Mini cream puff

The food is phenomenal especially that mini cream puff. That's to die for. And it is overlooking the coastline. It was a very relaxing afternoon after all the visiting, hiking and swimming. It's good to lay back a bit and enjoy the scenery.

Nutella heaven

My most favorite Cafe in South Kona. Always such friendly and quick service and the food is delicious. I like to order the Nutella Heaven pastry every time I come here. It's the best Nutella pastry I ever had. The cafe itself is always so clean and inviting and has the most beautiful views. I highly recommend this Cafe/ Bakery.

It was our last morning on the big island and we needed a good breakfast and Caffee Florian popped up on Yelp as a nearby option with great reviews so we decided to check it out. Finding it was easy and there was parking right in front of the building. This cafe was super cute and had a lot of charm about it, a plus was we were able to sit on the patio deck after ordering and enjoy the views of the ocean and nature around. We even got so lucky as to see a few cute geckos which the kids loved seeing and trying to catch. Now for the service the two women working the front were super sweet. They had alot of different pastries to pick from as well as a make to order menu. My 3 kids went with an Italian soda, hot chocolate and a vanilla steamer, the adults had an iced vanilla latte and a chai. For food we ordered lox and bagel, a turkey and provolone panani, a yogurt parfait and then we got some sweet treats from the cream puff, to brownie, lillikoi bar, and a peanut butter bar( which was a huge Reeses). Everything tasted amazing my personal favs were the lox bagel and the lillikoi bar. If you're ever in the area and on the look out for a great cafe this is the spot to stop at.

The sweetest gem in the area. The view is breathtaking and the coffee is divine. A little breakfast before our hike and it made me feel right!

Beautiful little spot we found! Small parking lot out front and a cute patio in the back to sit at! We got 2 breakfast sandwiches, a smoothie, and a blended coffee. The fruit that came with our breakfast was so good and fresh! I'm glad we found this hidden gem!

Toasted plain bagel with plain cream cheese spread, Topped with macadamia nut pesto sauce and a sprinkle of sun dried tomatoes!

Friendly ladies behind the counter, nice indoor and outdoor seating, and great menu! Hot and cold meal choices, pastries, cookies and so many goodies to choose from.

The coffee and food are good but they won't let you use the bathrooms. Hello! Sometimes you just gotta go when you're drinking coffee.

Surf Camp Coffee - Smoked Salmon Toast

This coffee shop is located in a small plaza with a pizza place, taco spot, and Merriman's. The plaza itself has plenty of parking even when it's on the busier side on a weekend morning, so it's not hard to find a spot. Inside the cafe, there's a retail section that sells clothing and small goods, and a separate side to place your order and sit and enjoy your drink. The interior is bright and welcoming with a minimalist vibe, and even when we visited on a weekend morning, it was easy to find seating either indoors or outdoors. Service was wonderful -- we were helped promptly by staff, and my drink came out quickly. I got the black sesame latte with a chocolate chip cookie. I thought my drink was perfect, as the flavor of the black sesame was nutty, pleasant, and just the right amount of sweetness paired with the espresso. The cookie was on the softer/puffier side, and although it's not my preferred texture, it wasn't too bad! To sum up, I really enjoyed dropping by to get coffee here, and I feel like the quality of the drinks at Surf Camp is consistent across their different locations. I'll definitely come back if I ever find myself on Big Island for another trip!

The shop had a very minimalistic design with the perfect touches of Hawaii that made it such a relaxing and homey place to have breakfast. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which wasn't super crowded on a Saturday brunch time. I got the cucumber bagel and black sesame latte. I loved the crunchiness of the cucumbers and you can tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. The ricotta was the perfect touch and brought everything together for a simple and filling breakfast. I love black sesame, so it was such a nice surprise to see they had a latte on the menu. I liked the nuttiness of the sesame, but the coffee was more on the bitter side. Such a cute shop that is the perfect addition to Waimea town. I would definitely recommend coming here for food and to check out the shop!

The place was very busy and quite loud, so we had to sit at a high top in the bar. No big deal! Our server was incredibly attentive and made some great recommendations. We decided to start with quest and chips, which was brought out very quickly and nice and hot. As we inhaled the quest and chips, we decided on fish tacos for me and a veggie burger for my husband. The fish tacos were wonderfully seasoned and cooked very well. The tortillas were a bit greasy, however, and I was very happy there were two tortillas to each taco since there was also a bit more drip than I expected from the pico. I also had fries, and the fries were excellent! The veggie burger was epic. This was the second veggie burger from this group of restaurants he has had, and I'm pretty sure it's his favorite in the area. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well, with great fries. It was very busy here, which is always a good sign. Just wish the music wasn't as loud because it's hard to have any sort of conversation. I did enjoy how involved the singer was with the other patrons, so it was amusing!

We actually ordered this again a few nights later. Perfectly cooked slightly aged steak sans inedible fat or sinew that often comes with ribeye. We should had asked for more chefs garden chimichurri butter and papaya seed Demi-glacé since it was so incredibly tasty! Loved the ali'i mushrooms and shallots (although I would ask for them sliced and caramelized with the mushrooms instead of whole). Overall a solid dish. 5 stars. Chefs special - fresh catch mahi-mahi (could had used a touch more seasoning and hot pan sear) with perfect roasted carrots and broccolini on some nice mashed potatoes. I forgot the type of kimchee it had on top, but it was fantastic. Great combination of flavors and textures. 5 stars. Kids penne pasta - basic penne with good amount of butter and scant cheese. 4.5 stars. Everything was pricey, which is to be expected with hotel restaurants. But the food taste and quality was up to par for the most part. Our server deserves a lot of credit since she helped steer us away from some dishes and towards others. I hope the chef team takes into consideration what their long time staff (especially the ones with good taste) have to say about the rotating menu. I noticed the seafood chowder was not on the menu anymore and I asked about the new chowder and our server said it definitely wasn't as good. We were also visiting during a slower time so I'm guessing there are challenges on a number of levels. And shout out to the Cream-filled malasadas in the deli case...better than the fresh ones at the farmers market! 5+ stars!!

We got our coffee (good but nothing extraordinary tbh) and a snack, chatted a bit with the owner, and then decided to explore the grounds instead of sitting indoors the entire time. It was so fun to wander through the little shop (with their "please touch" policy) and gallery, check out the outdoor dining areas, meet one of the famous NZ bunnies (I think there were supposed to be 2 though..?), and walk through their forest and gardens. Even on a slightly rainy and damp day, the outdoor walk was enjoyable. The space is whimsically decorated with art, sculptures, and local products for sale, and at times it gave off an Alice in Wonderland vibe. We're not sure when we'll be back in this area or on Big Island in general, but if/when we are I'd love to return and explore again.
