A sweet find along the highway. The parking "lot" is tricky to get into/out of but it's worth it! There were lots of good options on the menu and the barista saw me struggling. She was quick to offer suggestions, customer favorites, and her personal favorite. I got the artichoke and cheese panini and an iced macadamia nut latte. The two items ran me just under $20 which is more than I'd like to spend, but the cafe had its perks. There's free WiFi, personal bathroom (bonus: I witnessed the barista wash the bathroom key after every customer returned it. I love that! Very clean and health-conscious), lanai outside with five tables (~16 seats) and fantastic service. The panini was perfectly pressed and tasted so good! I'm not the biggest fan of artichoke but decided to give this a try as it's a customer fav. When done right (like this panini), results are delicious. Also, the drinks are pricey but it's 100% local Kona coffee. Overall, I like this spot as a "special occasion" cafe. I wouldn't come here regularly, since I don't think my wallet can take that, but it's a nice place to come if you have special lunch/coffee plans or if you have time to kill in between running errands/going to the doctor/etc in the area. read more

I have no idea how I've missed this gem all this time. The outside doesn't strike you for your modern day coffee shop but boy was I surprised! You walk in and the vibe is uplifting and not dark and heavy. You get a instant high of joy when you run into the abundant choices from the pastry display! They shine brighter than diamonds - good luck choosing! You get MORE than what you pay for as the size of everything feels like it came out of Grandmas kitchen. No factory made plastic wrap goodies here. I had a healthy raspberry scone that wasn't cakey and had a good flake to it. Big enough for two to share. The sundried tomato, macadamia pesto bagel was ridiculously good. I know what I'll be dreaming about the next few days. Coffee in combination with the view - I'm dead. And went to Heaven. read more

First time trying it out, and we were pleasantly surprised! Got the chicken salad croissant, tuna melt panini, some cream puffs and some guava pastries. Everything was awesome. The food and the view here were both excellent! We got the Breakfast Panini, MacNut Bagel, and a smoothie, and they were all delicious! The cafe is fairly large and there were many tables. We came on a weekday and it wasn't very packed, which made the meal more relaxing & enjoyable. We will be back again! read more

We stopped by to try this place out for breakfast. For $25.00 bucks we got the 2 Florian egg sandwiches, 2 small pastries and 1 regularly coffee and chocolate coffee thing. The sandwiches came with a slice of papaya and 2 thin orange wedges. It was ok. But the size of these sandwiches was the same as a McMuffin. The only thing that I can say that is good is the view and nice cashier working there. Other than that I would advise food wise to go to McDonald's and get breakfast there( it's down the street on the corner) and stop by this place to get coffee it'll save you some $$$. read more

We were looking for a light breakfast that would be quick to pick up, and found Caffe Florian on yelp. I expected it to be decent, run of the mill cafe/bakery food, but wefound Caffe Florian to be a little big extra special. It looks very unassuming from the front, but once you walk inside you'll find a homey atmosphere and a beautiful view off of their patio. It is perfect for sipping some delicious Kona coffee and having a little pastry (or two or ten). I had a quiche that was very delicious with fresh papaya on the side. I believe my husband had a breakfast sandwich. It was all delicious and the perfect fuel for our day of road tripping around the island and snorkeling. read more

We happened to find Caffe Florian on our way going South from Kailua-Kona, so we stopped and had breakfast and coffee. It is a great coffee shop with different food options, and the food we had was 'ono (delicious) especially the Florian Egger. This was a small business we just managed to stumble into purely by accident. We were looking for a bite to eat and stopped at this coffee and bake shop. Was pleasantly surprised to discover they also made sandwiches and were willing to make a coffee shake! The public areas of this little restaurant were spotless, and they had an outdoor area that had a spectacular view of the ocean. Staff was fun to talk to and seemed to really enjoy tending to customers. When in the area this little store is recommended both for great sandwiches and a very present atmosphere. read more

I hope my experience is not typical. Ordered a cappuccino and got 12 ounce cup only 1/3 full. The coffee was bitter and burnt tasting. My husband ask for a sprinkle of cinnamon in the draw and the woman replied she wouldn't put it in her expensive machine. I feel a simple 'no' would have been sufficient. Coffee-1. Value-1. Just a heads up, it's not 'open' for sit down service. Which is strange considering they have a small outdoor area as well as decent space size inside. It's strictly grab n go. We ate breakfast here twice in our three day stay in Kona. They have a variety fresh baked goods and breakfast sandwiches and a good selection of coffee drinks and teas. I had a toasted pb & j on sweet Hawaiian bread the first day, and on multigrain bread the second time we dined here. Yummy vegan breakfast! We took a slice of Italian almond cake to go and it was tender and delicious. My husband loved the Nutella Heaven which was a croissant stuffed with Nutella. He has had three of those! He had a breakfast sandwich on a croissant this morning, the Nutella Heaven was his dessert. On both visits we dined on the lanai out back. There is also indoor dining and plenty of parking on the side of the building. The ladies who work there are very nice and I wish them great success! read more

Based on the first visit, it's a 3.5 star. I'm feeling generous, so I rounded it up to 4. I will return few more times to finalize my review. The coffee was good. I had their house brew, and it was pretty good. They have a small roaster inside the store, so I assume they roast their own, which by itself does not guarantee good coffee. I roast my own coffee at home, so that alone does not impress me, but the effort is definitely positive. The view is nice, with a small lanai seating. The interior is clean and tastefully decorated. The staff seem very nice. And it is much better than the Orchid Isle Café (that is what this place used to be). The food needs a little work. I am partly to blame for what I ordered (artichoke cheese panini). Artichoke in Kona? What was I thinking? I must have thought I was in Castroville. I should have known better. The artichoke had very little flavor (I'm guessing it came in a jar), and it tasted more like a plain grilled cheese sandwich. I will try something else next time. And the apple pecan turnover? Well, I don't think apple and pecan are good combination. And the dough looked and tasted like a frozen in-a-tube variety. I will try other selections from their bakery next time. For now, a generous 4 star. May 2015 update: It is a solid 4-star (upgraded from 3.5). Their bakery and dessert offerings have gradually expanded. Their croissant is very good. Their smoothies are better than Jamba Juice's. read more

Quaint little cafe off 11 just outside of Kailua. Stopped here on our way south and enjoyed breakfast. I had the veggie egger, an English muffin topped with eggs, cheese, avocado, onion, and spinach. Super disappointed. Bought a Nutella pastry. I was really looking forward to eating it. Turned out it was very dry and tasting oily. I actually could not eat it. I went to owner and tried to explain but she defended herself saying that's the way they taste, she took my plate and did not offer a refund nor a different pastry. I was shocked to say the least. I went on a Saturday and they are closed on Sunday. Coincidence I got an old pastry? In any case, First rule of good commerce is "client is always king". I can say I am not likely to go back and will not be recommending it and that is purely based on attitude. Had owner made it right, I would have given it another try. read more
