Some mahi mahi dish special. So nasty.
Alyson C.

We got in late on our flight and decided to eat at this restaurant at our hotel... it took them an hour to serve 11 people while everyone around us was getting their food. Once the food actually came... it was terrible. My fish was just disgusting. I could not even eat it without feeling like throwing up. 6 people got the burger and they were all cooked incorrectly. I would not eat here. The pool restaurant is 100 times better and cheaper. This place is overpriced and just not tasty at all. The drinks were bad and had barely any alcohol and the service was not good. The only nice thing about this place is that it has live music and it's really Pretty. Do not eat here. Trust me.

Seared hamachi ($49)

We dined here after getting in from our inter-island flight and most restaurants were closed. Wait was about 20 min at 8 pm on a Saturday to dine in at the restaurant, so we opted to do takeout and sit along the pool. We were helped by Hiro, who was very helpful and friendly! We ordered the seared fish which was hamachi and the price was $49. On the menu it says $39, but maybe upcharge d/t market price (?) Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. Fish was kind of crusty and tough on the outside and the dish kind of seemed like it was thrown together. My dad had the same thing and said his fish was dry. I think I enjoyed the purple sweet potatoes beneath the fish the most. My mother had only the ribs appetizer and says the meat felt dry. We also had two bowls of the seafood chowder which we actually enjoyed more than our dishes. Will probably not choose to dine here again, but if you're in a pinch with food options it's.. an option. But can be a very pricey one!

The food is underwhelming for a hotel restaurant charging hotel prices. The "Wailele hash cakes" (deep fried sweet potato patties) sound exotic but were dry and tasteless. I think they could be good if they had more flavor and retained some moistness. The Keauhou benedict comes with the hash cakes so the dish was so-so. The Paniolo omelet was okay also. French toast was nothing special - had many that were way better. Orange juice was good and I liked the service. It's nice to sit by the pool and listen to the waterfall while we eat. Overall, this place is just Okay. Definitely not worth the $100 price tag. Same meat you'll find at the luau, so I guess we know where the food for the $200+ experience comes from. Somehow it tasted a little better at the luau, so maybe they're using leftover meat for tomorrow's breakfast or vice versa. Wandered down another day and ordered some kind of juice lemonade at the counter and it was really good.

My bf and I live in Kona and don't typically go to resorts or tourist spots, but we had our niece visiting from California and we wanted to take her to a nice resort dinner her last night visiting with us, so we decided to stay in town and take her to Piko. The last time my bf and I were here it was shortly after they re-opened after covid, so we were also excited to see the new restaurant and try out some of the new menu items they have. I made the reservation online, through their website, and was a breeze making the reservation. We needed to change it to a later time, and it was very simple to cancel and reserve a new time without any hiccups. All made on the day we went, just a few hours before our reservation. When we got to the hotel (with free parking not too far from the front entrance) the hostess was warm and welcoming. We were about 15-20 minutes late for our reservation but they accommodated us and gave us a nice table close to the live music and a nice view of the adult pool, but also in a private corner where we could all still converse and hear each other. The live music is a nice addition to the ambiance. The last time we came to the restaurant was a couple of years ago and they have since remodeled the bar and sitting area, which is much nicer than it was before. Now to the food and service. We ordered a good amount of food; for appetizers, we had the chef's bread, seafood chowder, smoked dip, french fries, and sashimi. The sashimi app we had was amazing and highly original! Very fresh ahi sashimi topped with ponzu, ogo, pearl truffle caviar, and ikura (salmon roe caviar), sooo good! The micro-greens were also a nice touch on the sashimi plate. My niece loved the chowder so much, she almost ordered a second bowl but wanted to save room for her entree and dessert. For entrees we had ribeyes and the Korean braised short rib (forgot to take photos). Good mix of veggies with the ribeyes and the short rib was nice and tender. My niece had never tried kimchee but was definitely digging the kimchee fried rice that came with the braised short rib. We ended the meal with some Tropical Dreams ice cream (chocolate, coconut, Kona Coffee). Huge shout out to Chef Ash for the amazing food! Also to our our server, Tracey-Ann! She was very friendly and bubbly, and my niece said she was the nicest server she's ever had! Thank you for showing my niece (and us) what aloha hospitality is all about!

I realalt enjoyed the lilikoi magarita!

We stayed here so decided to try Piko. We saw that reviews were disappointing but it actually wasn't bad as the reviews were. We all enjoyed our meals and drinks! The kaffir lime catch of the day was really delicious. The kids loved their kids meal. Cheeseburger was surprisingly really good. The service was great. They were so nice and attentive. We love that it's near the poolside and have a live band. Makes the vibe feels so relaxing and enjoyable.

Definitely not what we expected from an open air pool side lounge for dinner. The food pairing of ingredients were very complimentary to each other, the aroma, taste and texture were all there to completed the meal. We definitely enjoyed the food and service and not hesitate to return.

Chicken wings

We loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It's situated on the bottom level of Outrigger Kona and had live music every night. I went two nights with my husband. The first night we just had appetizers and he loved the chicken wings. I had the Ulu hummus, which was enjoyable. The next night we had dinner and I had the Roasted Puna Chicken, which I was warned was going to take 20-25 minutes, so don't order that dish in a hurry. My favorite part of the dish was the crispy canoe crops. I think they need to hire another waitstaff to accommodate the tables and I definitely recommend making a reservation.

Great Kona coffee in a wonderful casual atmosphere!…read more I had to meet up/interview a potential Big Island candidate in Kailua-Kona and I was basically looking for a casual place where I could meet, enjoy a drink, and have a little bit of conversation. Kona Coffee & Tea was the place of choice here in Kailua-Kona. Located at the Kona Coast Shopping Center, you can find this little coffee shop just next door from KFC. The coffee shop is easy to find, as other business surrounding this business is the KTA Superstore, Hele Gas Station, HFS Federal Credit Union, O'Reilly Auto Parts, as well as many numerous eateries. It was late in the afternoon, so I basically came here for some drinks. I had to try their Kona Coffee, and I must say it did not disappoint! The coffee shop has indoor, as well as covered outdoor seating. The shop does sell some food items, but I did not partake or looked at what they had to offer. There was also coffee shop merchandise, but I did not have time to take a look at what they had to offer. Overall, as great coffee shop and if I'm in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by for their wonderful coffee.

Unless you're a coffee connoisseur, you may want to skip the pour over for something a bit less special to save yourself a few dollars. The coffee was fine, but my unrefined palette was not able to fully appreciate the cup of brew. In terms of atmosphere, Kona Coffee & Tea has plenty of seating outdoors around the porch and a few high tables indoor, where they have AC blasting at full strength. They have free Wi-Fi available as well, so I saw a lot of people posting up on their laptops. Parking is plentiful and easy to find since this coffee spot is located in a strip mall. If you have a discerning palette for the subtle flavors that show up in different coffee beans, you will definitely want to stop by for a cup.

I walked in and was completely ignored though there were two people behind the counter and only one person in line ahead of me. I waited patiently, feeling like this was a test. Locals know you go slow and be patient and you get good service. Aloha only. As friendly as I could possibly be, I asked for drip coffee of which there was only the dregs left in the pot, but enough to fill my cup. I was okay with that and paid, about $4.20 before tip... then found my cup (16oz) was only half full. I said thank you cheerfully and left, thinking they'll just pour the rest of that pot down the drain. The food looks good if a little expensive, but I'll never go back there. There's other places where the service can really suck but the food is ono and the price is good, like L&L. You can get a meal there for less than $10. I can deal with poor service, but poor service and high prices... nah bro.

They are busy and everything is made to order so be patient if you come at the lunch hour.

As coffee lovers, Heavenly Hawaiian constantly came up in my research and I'm glad we toured for ourselves. The grounds itself are absolutely gorgeous and that view from the hill onto the ocean is unreal! I can't for the life of me remember our tour guides name but she was such a joy and extremely knowledgeable. Learning about the different coffee variants that are grown such as Kona typica, Progeny 502, and the "boujee girl" Geisha was awesome to learn about and see for ourselves. Did I mention endless coffee sampling? Such a relaxing atmosphere to sip all the coffee you want and enjoy that view. And the cutest cats on the property were such a delight mingling with the guests. All staff members were so helpful and they even treated us with a goodie bag of freshly picked fruits from the farm and a bag of peaberry bites (my new favorite) all as a thank you for paying a visit on our honeymoon! Was not expecting that all but such a sweet gesture! I would highly recommend Heavenly Hawaiian farms to anyone if you're on the Big Island or in the Kona area.
