We were heading out on an adventure, and we were really craving smoothie bowls. We wanted to try something new, so we decided to go down the road a ways and try another place on a Google search. This led us here...except...they don't do smoothie bowls. Oops. No big deal! They do have smoothies, so we decided to try those out with a slice of cheesecake. I mean, because cheesecake. The employee here was super helpful and nice. Honestly, this location looks extremely popular for a late breakfast, and it makes sense to me: the menu was full of some yummy offerings. You felt like you were sitting in a very personal, old time diner where everyone would know each other. It was honestly very authentic, and I loved how we felt like we were at a friend's house. The smoothies were really good! Bright, vibrant flavors and very much needed after a busy morning. The cheesecake, well, it lasted about 2.5 seconds. Seriously sooo good and a nice little treat! I believe they make the cheesecake and other baked goods in-house, so that's a bonus. This wasn't what we were hunting for, but we were happy to stumble upon this cozy diner!

The big islands coffee is a game changer on its own, but Menehune creates a menu of drinks that offer lots of flavor without the overwhelming sweetness. Just perfect enough to taste the essence of the coffee. Their Macadamia latte with Oatmilk was amazing! Aside from their delicious coffee, they have a food menu that pairs just well with it. I had a breakfast plate that was fresh and tasted like a home cooked meal! Give it a try. You'll enjoy the ambience, friendly staff, cleanliness, and yummy menu. Mahalo, until next time!

Awesome spot for a good meal and great coffee! The staff is super nice and made sure everything was perfect. The views are always amazing and it's such a nice establishment. Well kept and fits the island vibes. Little ways from the busy areas but a nice scenic drive here. Be sure to make a trip here for an all around experience! Also their cheesecakes are really really good! Different flavors like lilikoi, ube, etc.

Food: their coffee tasted great! I forgot to ask if they can make it less sweet so I'd say to me their original flavoring is on the sweet side. However their coffee is probably by far the best one that goes super well with milk we ended up buying some packs of their grounded coffee and beans. Service: it's a small and hidden shop but the staff is warm and helpful. Ambiance: deserted retro style overall. Cozy and chill.

My food was OK. My rice was hard. There was out of everything that we wanted. No potatoes menu said they had waffles no waffles. The chicken the chicken was no seasoning look like it was frozen. It's heated up, but my pancakes were good. The juices was good, but there was out of papaya. The coffees were good so I'll overall I'll give it a good three food not too well but if you come here for drinks is a good

The kalua pork is delicious! We had avocado toast, an omelet a castaway cold espresso and big island also served cold. The food was very good- highly recommend. Eggs cooked perfectly.

What a cute little place! Almost missed it on the way to the volcano national park. Charming in-door and small outdoor seating area and friendly staff. We got a few items to-go, but would be back to sit a while and enjoy the place on our next visit. My mom got a latte and banana muffin and I got a small side of potatoes and sausage. Drink came out hot and fast and was probably the best coffee we had on the island, and that's saying something as coffee is everywhere, and locally-grown. Prices are great as I believe the coffee was around 5 and breakfast about 10. While your out driving around to a destination, or just want to get away from all the tourists, give this little gem a try.

    Cheryl B.

Very yummy breakfast and smoothie. We also got some baked goods to go! We don't drink coffee but the people next to use were saying how good it was too. Well worth stopping if you are in this area!

Menehune is my go to spot for coffee and breakfast on big island. Service: the gals there are absolutely amazing!!! They treat you like family, even when they're slammed everyone's working hard and you can tell they care a lot for their customers. A rare thing nowadays. There's ample outdoor and indoor seating, tons of cute wall art, and behind the espresso bar there's a super neat mural showing the "pick to process" of their coffee I absolutely love menehune!!! Also pro tip for anyone wanting to treat your staff of lunch group to phenomenal coffee, call 24 hours in advance and they'll accommodate a full service to-go drip set up for your crew! Thank you menehune, sorry I havnt been by lately as I'm on mainland, but miss you all and sending hugs your way!

16$ açaí bowl which comes solid frozen
    Z Y.

The 16$ açaí bowl comes solid frozen ; the mango smoothie tastes like pure ice+sugar; the loco moco costs around 20$ but worths 6$; the coffee is okay; the lady cashier is unhappy today. However, if you enjoy dinning with flies dancing around, this is the right place!!!

Loco moco, Kalua pork omelette, so tropical smoothie
    Chelsie S.

Stopped by this place for breakfast before driving to Hilo, and it honestly was just okay. I was expecting more from the food, but it was pretty mid. There isn't much parking, and it's a small area. The Kalua pork omelette was good, and the so tropical smoothie was good as well, but I feel like you could find many other smoothies in HI that would beat the ones here. The flavor is very subtle, almost nonexistent, especially with the mango smoothie, which honestly tasted like water. This was disappointing because we didn't taste mango in this smoothie at all. Also, the loco moco was something I would not order again because I did not find the onion rings on the top to taste good, and the patty was a little tough. Service was alright, and food wasn't horrible, but I just wouldn't return because there are so many other places in HI that are more worth the money!

The decor, ambiance, music, seating arrangements, lighting, it feels intentional, intimate and classy. We ordered appetizers - focaccia and grilled flatbread. Focaccia 10/10 - crunchy, yet soft, grilled flavor and the butter. Mmmmmmmm yum. Grilled flatbread 5/10 - not what I expected... Lychee martini 10/10 - classy, tropical, sweet but not too sweet ;-) I ordered the glazed lamb shank - the flavor was beautiful, the meat was juicey, soft and fell off the bone, paired with coconut rice and coconut curry. It was an amazing mixture of different flavors that worked so well together. I think we also got the Kanpachi - it was good but the lamb was our favorite. Finished off the evening with the dessert show with the banana foster - it was way too sweet for me but the show was very entertaining to watch :-). Our favorite dessert was the lilikoi crème Brûlée. (Not pictured). Perfect balance between sweet and savory. Crunchy yet creamy. So delicious!! We loved our experience at the theatery - dining felt like an experience, indulging in the art of eating and enjoying conversation with your dining partner. Will go again.
