Was really excited about this place but have a mixed opinion. They were closed for lunch 1-2pm when we first tried to stop by - this lunch hour is not posted on their hours anywhere online. I saw reviews talking about the amazing food and macadamia milk. We weren't able to come back until about 4pm, when the man working was quite short with me when I inquired about these items. Note it is an extremely religious cafe (lots of Jesus). We ordered cappuccinos and he added cinnamon and a pump of caramel and vanilla he mentioned after he brought our drinks - be aware if you don't want this. read more

Glad we stopped by...may be the best latte I ever had! The coffee was so smooth & flavorful, and the proprietor (Bill) infuses the milk with just a hint of sweetness and cinnamon. It enhances the flavor without overpowering the coffee. And my husband love his brownie with Mac nuts so much, he inhaled it without me even getting a taste ;-) Bill was very friendly, and I learned a bit more about coffee... he has a real passion for what he does! The name says it all- this place is a sacred gem. My mom and I wanted to visit an authentic coffee farm while visiting Kona. We were looking for somewhere that wasn't a tourist trap and I had noticed this while driving by one day. The turn into the parking lot is a little bit sharp- we missed it about three times before we finally got it! Haha Once there, we were taken aback by the beauty of the view. They have a large deck that overlooks the hill and the ocean and it is just stunning. They have plenty of seating available, I really enjoyed sitting in a swinging chair that they had. This place is truly a place of community. We sat on the patio next to a couple on their honeymoon and enjoyed chatting with them for a while. It was such a peaceful place. When you order, they let you enjoy your drink and/or food prior to paying which is a nice change of pace. You can pay when you leave. The owner is also a potter, so there are many beautiful ceramics available for sale. I've never seen his style of art before in ceramics. They also sell t-shirts, jewelry, and of course, their coffee. My mom ordered a decaf vanilla latte, and I had a chai latte. Both were exceptional. My mom was happy to have finally found somewhere with decaf coffee. If you're visiting Kona and you're looking for a space of solitude that truly brings your soul peace, this is one of the places you should visit. It's a space where your soul can recharge. read more

Okay, listen, I could've done without the Christian music and decor, buuuuuut... it's not like I wasn't warned with the name. I just assumed this was a reconverted church turned coffee house that decided to capitalize on it by using a meta name. BUT I DIGRESS! People are allowed their personal beliefs, and if the food, drinks and service is this good, I guess I can accept the minor proselytism. I just would've enjoyed it more if the atmosphere was more neutral; otherwise this would be the perfect place to work, read/write and take in the gorgeous views. I tried to read, but kept getting distracted by the Christian rock. Most everything is handmade, and you can tell it's done with love. The dishes and desserts were as beautiful as they were satisfying. And I could survive on those lattes alone, they're so good! The staff was very kind and made sure we were satisfied throughout our visit. This is absolutely a place I wouldn't mind supporting again, albeit with headphones in. read more

If you have the chance do yourself a favor and stop in!! This is a friendly reminder of the aloha spirit! The backdrop of the sweeping lush green landscape to the big ocean is breathtaking and relaxing. This is a local coffee land so grab a cup and taste the richness of the land. The food menu is not big but the breakfast was amazing. Smoothies are perfect. Get a lb of coffee beans and some fresh macadamia nuts as your island souvenir. Beautiful pottery. Lovely little casual coffee shop which is also an art studio. The kind gentleman made us a nice hot breakfast and wonderful tasting coffee. He was very attentive. Amazing to eat on the deck with this incredible view. Yelp directions take you further down the dead end road and when we turned around it was tucked in on the rhs. (There is a small sign that says coffee, go down the narrow way, there is parking and you can turn around). read more

What a hidden gem! We stumbled upon Sacred Grounds by chance and couldn't have been more delighted with our discovery. The back patio offers absolutely breathtaking views that alone would be worth the visit. The owner was incredibly welcoming and attentive, taking time to chat with us since we were the only customers at that time. My wife and I had the most amazing experience here. We arrived at 2:30 just after Bill's lunch break and he gave us an extremely warm welcome followed by a personal tour of the grounds, the plants and fruit they grow. He makes chocolate, as well as woodworking, and pottery too. His pottery studio takes up a portion of the shop too with a display of his beautiful ceramic and wood pieces. He gave us coffee and macadamia nuts grown on the grounds to taste with our coffee. Everything was unbelievably delicious. On top of everything one of the best views we'd had in our time on the island. I can't promise this same experience to everyone as there was no one else there but he made us feel so special and was unbelievably kind. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

I am very bothered by people who left less than 5 stars because of the fact that this is a Christian owned business. I am not a Christian and I had no problem with it. I travel the world and go to cathedrals, temples and mosques. Different faiths are beautiful, we can learn from them all. To be offended or bothered by someone expressing their religion in their own coffee house and farm is completely ridiculous. If you can't handle people having their own right to religious expression you should probably not live in America, or just stay home and definitely be sure to NEVER travel. And if you do have a problem with someone's ideaology you don't down rate the quality of their business because of it. Those yelpers are SO ignorant it's really disappointing to know I share a planet with them. Even more disappointing that yelp would allow that. I just had an incredible visit here with my husband and got the tour from Bill who was such a sweetheart and so happy to share his knowledge! My latte was so good I had to order another and we got a bag of coffee to bring home. The view was one of the best we've seen on our trip! We will be back someday!! read more

This is a must stop if you are in the area. This was the best latte my wife and I have had on the island. She had a hot and I had an iced latte. Josie even made sure my iced latte had some foam on the top and we enjoyed our drinks while taking in the magnificent view from their Lanai overlooking the Pacific Ocean. My daughter had a smoothie the was a mix of tropical fruit and was also very tasty. We all split the chicken tacos which were tasty and filling. They have the pottery they throw here on display for purchase as well. There is decent amount of parking in the driveway area but also on the street. read more

We would strongly recommend against coming here, it was an absolute bait and switch and we felt racially profiled against. Decent coffee and food, but we were very turned off by the man's sudden switch of attitude during our visit - he seemed only to be welcoming until we bought food and then he turned absolutely cold. We came here as a group of 5 after snorkeling nearby. There was one man working and he was just finishing up giving a tour to another party. When the other party left, he was initially very welcoming to our group. But once the other half of our group showed up with people of Asian descent, his tone changed. We had originally asked for a tour of the coffee farm, and he was very warm and willing, and suggested that we order coffee and food before he took us on a walkabout of the property. We obliged, but his mood soured immediately after we made the order of coffee and ribs. After eating, we asked again for the tour, but he turned cold and refused, saying he was too tired and did not want to. We asked if we could walk around the property ourselves, but he was not comfortable with us walking around his property. We were extremely upset that he originally promised us a tour 'free with the purchase', but immediately re-neged after we ordered food. He was also very weird about mask wearing - he told us we were 'free to take our masks off', and seemed annoyed that we chose to keep our masks on. He did not seem to be very COVID conscious at this farm and did not seem very friendly to Asian people. read more

This place is pure magic. My girlfriend and I just happened upon Sacred Grounds randomly when we were looking for a quick bite before heading to Pu'uhonua o Hōnaunau. We were the only people there that day and the experience was one of the highlights of my trip. It felt as if we were having breakfast in Bill's home, perched on a cliff in the middle of the jungle overlooking the beautiful ocean below. Not only was the coffee and food incredibly good but Bill is super friendly and accommodating and we had a good chat with him about our backgrounds and life etc. I can't quite put it all into words but I was simply in awe sitting there on the deck having breakfast and taking in the environment and vibe. The chocolate was the creamiest I've ever had, and he even took our party on a little tour of the farm. Very private and the lanai had a great view of the ocean.
