I wish they would have let me take a to-go cup of coffee after the tour, especially after paying for two tickets + $70 of bagged coffee, but they unfortunately limited me to the little sample cups with no lids. We did a 2 day package encompassing the islands most beautiful waterfalls, nature reserves, botanical gardens, volcanoes, beaches coffee farms on old town Hilo. On our first day with Jason our driver and guide picked us up on time and with a smile. He shared his knowledge along the way wearing a microphone in the van so everyone could hear comfortably. At the attractions he was with us giving us history of all the waterfalls. Whiles driving he told us about the sites inbetween. At lunch time he provided us a delicious meal from a local restaurant. Day 2 with our driver Derek was in another new van that was also comfortable and roomy. Derek took us to a working coffee plantation to see, smell and walk through the farm. At Kīlauea volcano national park where we got to see upclose and personal the caldera in all its majesty. All the time telling the history and recent activity of the volcano. We saw and walked on a beautiful black sand beach with segregated sea turtle nesting area where we saw a turtle swimming ashore and resting at waters edge before digging a hole in the black sand to lay her eggs in preparation for the next generation of turtle, we walked down and into a 30 meter lava tube and got to visualize the path of a whole lotta molten rock traveling through centuries before. Culminating the day's trip by stopping on a mountain top in almost complete darkness, the moon was in a waxing crescent and producing very little nighttime light. We bundled up to stay warm in the 50 degree Fahrenheit temperature to stargaze. It was refreshing in the cold air, outside the van huddled in a group while Derek pointed out, planets, stars, constellations and galaxies as we stood in awe of the majesty above us. Wasabi Tours, Jason and Derek were on-time, safe, informative and most of all fun to spend our time with. I highly recommend taking a Wasabi tour to REALLY see the big island. Thank you all!

Cool, but also full of spider webs.) They also cut open a fresh, ripe, not-processed-yet cacao bean at the end of the tour, and we got to try a little bit (it's delicious - sweet and fruity, nothing like chocolate. You don't just look at tanks -- you learn everything. There are 54 species of seahorses and every single one is endangered. They explain how seahorses truly struggle in the wild and how this farm has learned to sustainably raise them so people stop taking them from the ocean. They are literally changing the trajectory of these incredible, majestic creatures. You get to see the full life cycle -- the parents, the babies, different stages of growth -- all in real life, up close. And yes... you get to hold a seahorse. They wrap their tiny tails around your finger and it is unreal. They feel like nothing you've ever experienced before. It's gentle, surreal, and completely magical. We brought our 5-, 7-, and 9-year-old, and the staff was beyond kind. They took real time to explain everything to our kids, answered every question, and made them feel included and important. We cannot stop talking about it. It genuinely blew us out of the water. If you are on the island, this is a MUST. Not optional. One of the greatest experiences we've ever had.

Our tour guide, cannot remember his name, was SO funny and was really engaging with our group. He went around the group to learn everyone's names and where they were from, very personable. While waiting to start, they also have umbrellas for shade. Unfortunately, the storm had happened a couple of months prior to our May visit and we weren't able to explore any of the equipment where they process the coffee beans. But our tour guide was still able to make it really exciting for us. We learned about kona coffee and peaberry beans. We also got to see coffee flowers that smell like jasmine. They usually only last for four days before they die. Purchased a couple of bags to bring home. They don't have manufacturing dates on their bags because they always sell them out within five days.
