Beautiful farm filled with coffee plants, fruit & nut trees - you get to harvest some fruit to take with you!! Picked some citrus, perfectly juicy! February 2025, $5 per person entry fee recommended. Gorgeous garden, peaceful, beautifully landscaped. One ends with a variety of coffee tasting options. If you pick some fruit, they'll wash and cut the fruit for you too. A complimentary shuttle takes you back to the free parking lot. Super fun, enjoyable for all the senses! Great for the whole family with paved walkways. Manager can answer questions regarding coffee inquiries. Friendly staff. Loved it!

We were here in April and it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It's a coffee farm, AND a fruit orchard, AND Japanese gardens. For a suggested donation (I think it was $5?), you can take a self-guided tour of the grounds. You start at the top of the hill and work your way down. Along the way, you're allowed to eat any ripe fruit that you find, which changes seasonally, and there is a table with a nutcracker for cracking fresh macadamia nuts. When you get to the end of the path, there's a large gazebo overlooking a beautiful infinity pool and the ocean. There are also coffee samples to try and multiple varieties avail for purchase. Staff was really sweet and gave us a ride back to the top of the hill, because it had started raining pretty hard (but I think they'll give you a ride back up no matter what, if you want one). The day we were there happened to be my birthday and it was our last full day in town, and I'm so glad this is how we spent it. I recently ordered more of their coffee to give as holiday gifts, and it arrived in Seattle very quickly. The peaberry is my fave - highly recommend!

If you're looking for a good place to have some good coffee (tasting cups), enjoy sone good view of Kona, enjoy some tree ripe fruits (if it's in season), and some good conversation with the personnel from Japan, this is a place to go. Fabulous service including a shuttle both ways from the parking if you do not want walk or if you're unable to do so.

Great coffee and a beautiful place! You can pick fruit as you walk down and they will cut it for you to enjoy! The view is amazing

This is a must stop when visiting the Big Island. You're surrounded by a perfectly manicured garden as you walk thru the fruit trees and down to the tasting area. When you reach the bottom you are greeted with the most beautiful infinity pool and view of the perfect blue ocean. There was plenty of tables to sit and relax and to take in the beauty of it all.

Definitely a must to visit!! Only $5 per person over 15 and free coffee samples, as well as free fruit harvesting. The managers are always there and they're super sweet and welcoming. Amazing place to take a walk and take pictures.

This is one of the most beautiful gardens I've experienced. Such majestic, romantic place. And the coffee tastes amazing too. I highly recommend it to those who have an appreciation for nature, gardens and coffee.

Could this place be any more beautiful? They used the space incredibly well. Your encourage to roam around between all the fruit trees and pick at well. There's a beautiful infinity pool at the bottom of your walk and staff are there to wash and cut your fruit for you as well as serve you, fresh coffee. There is no obligation to buy And you're encouraged just to relax. I love this place. I can't wait to go back. I'm curious if they do weddings there. It's such an amazing experience. Make sure to take your cameras and a comfortable pair of shoes and enjoy every second of it. The fruits are also delicious.

Amazing place! Very interactive and relaxing. The price is very affordable $5 per person. We went on Tuesday and it was pretty empty. You can pick fruit and take it down to the sitting area and the staff will cut and plate it for you. The staff was very friendly and kind they brought us additional chairs for our big group without us even asking them. The views are immaculate. I'd definitely come here again!

This is some of the coffee they sell.

It was the most beautiful place I have seen. I absolutely loved it. The coffee was delicious, the people there were very nice. It is a steep road down, however they provide a shuttle back to the parking lot.

What a magical find! You walk through gardens of beautiful flower. Groves of different fruit trees that you are welcome to pick and eat, a great cup of coffee and spectacular views. The staff is kind and knowledgeable. What an amazing experience. It is a little difficult to get down the hill side but walking down is a glorious experience.

OH WHAT FOND MEMORIES we have of this place!!! *** DISCLAIMER - I visited Mauka Meadows Doutor Coffee Farm way back in 2007 (13 years ago). However, based on current reviews & pictures, it virtually looks the same! So I thought I'd add my review. 2006 marked the beginning of our wanderlust and by the following year we were starting to check off bucket list destinations. It was our first-time visiting Hawaii or ever taking a long flight, so EVERYTHING was exciting!!! At the time, I don't exactly remember this place having a name or being a business. I just remember driving along and seeing a sign in a tiny parking area at the top of the property inviting people to come look. The sign also said that we could park, walk downhill and someone would shuttle us back and although we thought that was strange, we figured "why not?" The path through the "farm" is basically a long asphalt driveway to the bottom through fruit tree fields, flowers, flowering shrubs and delightful landscaping. There may have also been a coffee bean vineyard, but I don't recall seeing one. What I remember most is passing a grove of small trees that we (for some reason) thought were rubber trees. This spawned a family debate over whether or not rubber tree branches bend or break. Me being the wise patriarch of the family insisted they would bend, so I grabbed a small branch tip to demonstrate. Well, I was wrong and literally for the past 13 years it has been repeatedly brought up in nearly ANY SITUATION when I'm claiming certainty of thought. "Sweetie, I'm certain the hotel is this way!" I might say. "As certain as you were that rubber tree branches don't break?" is likely the follow-up. It is the quintessential definition of not ever being able to live something down... thanks to our happenstance visit to this place! ~ FINAL THOUGHTS At the time it wasn't much to see other than great views of the Pacific as well as beautiful landscaping, which culminated at the infinity pool and cabana. However, they did give us a large sample cup of the coffee made in a small house right there on-site using an impressive roasting machine. While it was a lovely experience, truly the only thing I fully remember is that dang "rubber tree incident" LOL! We've had a good laugh about this place for 13 years now and although we visited a total of 4 islands during our week long visit and saw all kinds of wonders, my most vivid memory of Hawaii is here! Funny how some things get lodged in your head, eh? IF ever we were to return to Hawaii, coming back here would be a must simply because of the fun memories of just how much we laughed when that dang branch snapped! Truth be told, I'm not even sure it WAS a rubber tree, but it would ruin the story if it wasn't! 2020 / 66

It was a very hot day and I needed to get out of the sun before I walked to the car, so I stayed in the paved upper parking area, and she treated me like I brought a couple of basset hounds off-leash to tear up the plants! The interaction was very rude. I just don't think they like visitors very much. Here is the seating area I was at, that needed to be protected from dogs I guess.

It is absolutely filled with cats and mongoose. The former don't really seem 'wild' or 'feral' since there were many locals calling them by name and offering food and water. It really seems like a cat paradise. It appears that the park has been adopted by a number of volunteers, so you see personal memorials, positive affirmations, a free book library (donate one and take one), and other personal touches. However, even though it appears that many people are responsible for maintaining the various gardens, it doesn't seem cluttered or overdone. I was especially surprised to see the cacti garden and other tropical plants that we didn't see elsewhere on the island. An Amazing Kona Coffee Experience…read more Greenwell Farms was one of the highlights of our Big Island trip! This is a coffee farm and tour experience, so just to clarify, they do not serve food here. The experience is focused on learning about how Kona coffee is grown and processed, touring the farm, and sampling their coffees. Our tour was about an hour, and we had such an amazing time. Our guide was a woman whose name I believe was Leilani (possibly Lenny or Lee), and she was absolutely adorable -- especially walking around in her cowboy boots! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who visits. Because of a major storm in May, the farm had suffered significant damage, including losing a bridge, so we received a modified tour. Even with the changes, we learned so much about the coffee-growing and production process, and it was fascinating to see everything firsthand. Hearing about the damage they experienced also gave us an even greater appreciation for the farm and what they've been working through. The tour is outdoors and seems appropriate for a wide range of ages. We happened to have a cloudy morning, so the weather was perfect for walking around the farm without getting too hot. Parking was easy and available right on site. A little tip: Wear comfortable sneakers and make sure you have good balance. There are some areas of the farm with gentle inclines and declines, so it's not completely flat. Since the bridge was out, there was also less walking than there normally would be. And of course, the coffee sampling was such a fun part of the experience! If you're visiting the Big Island and want to learn more about authentic Kona coffee rather than just buying a bag at a store, I highly recommend putting Greenwell Farms on your itinerary. We're so glad we went. It was educational, relaxed, beautiful, and genuinely fun -- and our guide made it that much more memorable. Mahalo to the Greenwell Farms team for such a wonderful experience!

This protected bay has over 120 species of resident fish, and usually has clear water. Other than urchins (7 species) there is no marine life to worry about. Turtle sitings are more likely at high tide when their salad bar (the algae on the rocks) is available. Typically from 9 to 3 daily the Reef Teach volunteers have photo guide books and other reference materials available, along with free advice, defog spray, and reef-safe sunscreen. Water access is the narrow and shallow rocky channel in front of the lifeguard station by the parking and pavilion. Swim fins or sand shoes are recommended. The locals value their feet and swim through it even at low tide when it is only a foot deep. Coming back in you can actually swim all the way back to the sandy channel. The water is usually noticeably warmer and clearer away from the entry. The bay is shallow with only a few places that are even 8' deep at high tide.
