This alerted me but, I gave them credit because I had purchased from the nursery over several years. It was the staff that encouraged us to use them for design and installation work. Use caution as they say they have or can get or do and then back out. Sad to relay this message but true experience. Realize it is hard to find staff which makes committing to a schedule difficult, but dragging a customer on was not a good approach. I'm a positive reviewer type, want to help out local businesses over WalMart. Hard to write this but feel others should go in aware in the hope they have a better experience. The nursery has limited hours, not necessarily the hours posted. Went by several times when they were supposed to be open but were closed.

We were so delighted to drive into this absolutely beautiful nursery. Their trees and plants were healthy and beautiful. They have an incredible selection. Luckily, The Vanillerie is located only about 5 minutes away from Kona International Airport. Our tour guide was Candee, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history behind vanilla and what it is and isn't. I absolutely learned a lot of things about vanilla that I hadn't known before. Now the farm itself is relatively small, but there are 4 greenhouse-like structures where the vanilla beans and plants grow. There is not much walking or hiking that you have to do, but be mindful of the uneven surfaces. And at the end of the tour, we all got real vanilla ice cream, which I absolutely loved! I saw there was rollinia, jackfruit, citrus trees and many more. This was the first time I'd ever seen a mangosteen tree in person. There was a sapling for sale. That was so cool. The business owner Maggie came out as soon as we arrived and was so friendly. Asked us if we needed any help and even offered to do a little tour around the property since we shared the love of fruit trees & gardening. Had such a great chat and she even gave us some very helpful travel/touring tips. Really awesome experience. Would highly recommend.

I asked if he could just tell me wich blower is the stronger one. He did not stop walking and arrogantly replied that he is on lunch now. It was about 15 minutes bofore 12. That is really poor service and I replied loud enough so that he could hear me, while still walking away from me. "Your service is absolutely bad, I'll never buy from you again ." One of my favorite things about neighbor islands are their mom and pop shops. These kind of shops…read morehave been a fixture in these neighborhoods for many years and have been passed down from generation to generation. During my trip to the Big Island I went to check out this shop for the very first time. I didn't know what to expect when I went to the shop but they had a variety of things. They had hairpicks made from koa, hat pins, leis to adorn lauhala hats, as well as an array of handmade lauhala crafts. Compared to the marked up items sold in Honolulu these items were priced affordably and you could tell by looking at the items that they were made locally vs the made in the Philippines crafts frequently sold around town. The Aunty in the shop was very knowledgeable and helpful. She could even tell you who made each item in her shop. If you're interested in lauhala crafts I'd suggest visiting this local shop. There's another lauhala store in Hilo however this one has more local items and are more affordable.
