Surf Camp Coffee is a must-visit in Waimea! I've been to the Surf Camp on O'ahu and somehow this location is even cooler?! It's a general store boutique in the front and coffee shop in the back. The general store is full of local brands with everything from books, snorkels and clothes for both guys and girls. I got an iron on patch and a Hawaiian flag pin. From the cafe, I got my usual that I always get from the Niu valley surf camp - a black sesame latte and also had a sip of my friend's matcha and both drinks were amazing. read more

Surf Camp Waimea! Cool vibe and awesome aura up in Waimea. Lots of easy parking. Came up from Waikoloa and it was raining up in Waimea so it was perfect coffee shop weather. Don't miss the chocolate cake! OMG it is perfection. Not too sweet and super moist. I am dreaming of the cake. Worth every penny! read more

I love the Surf Camp cafe in Niu Valley on Oahu, so I had to visit the Big Island location in Waimea! This coffee shop is located in a small plaza with a pizza place, taco spot, and Merriman's. The plaza itself has plenty of parking even when it's on the busier side on a weekend morning, so it's not hard to find a spot. Inside the cafe, there's a retail section that sells clothing and small goods, and a separate side to place your order and sit and enjoy your drink. The interior is bright and welcoming with a minimalist vibe, and even when we visited on a weekend morning, it was easy to find seating either indoors or outdoors. Service was wonderful -- we were helped promptly by staff, and my drink came out quickly. I got the black sesame latte with a chocolate chip cookie. I thought my drink was perfect, as the flavor of the black sesame was nutty, pleasant, and just the right amount of sweetness paired with the espresso. The cookie was on the softer/puffier side, and although it's not my preferred texture, it wasn't too bad! To sum up, I really enjoyed dropping by to get coffee here, and I feel like the quality of the drinks at Surf Camp is consistent across their different locations. I'll definitely come back if I ever find myself on Big Island for another trip! read more

If you're up in Waimea surf camp coffee delivers great coffee and amazing food. Perfect to start your day. The staff is super friendly and they make great recommendations. The ambience is very bright and clean and they have ample seating although my favorite seating is the outside picnic tables. Sitting out in the cool Waimea air sipping on delicious coffee . Doesn't get any better than that. read more

This spot was perfect!! Came here expecting to just grab and coffee and go but we stayed to enjoy the beautiful store. The shop had a very minimalistic design with the perfect touches of Hawaii that made it such a relaxing and homey place to have breakfast. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which wasn't super crowded on a Saturday brunch time. I got the cucumber bagel and black sesame latte. I loved the crunchiness of the cucumbers and you can tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. The ricotta was the perfect touch and brought everything together for a simple and filling breakfast. I love black sesame, so it was such a nice surprise to see they had a latte on the menu. I liked the nuttiness of the sesame, but the coffee was more on the bitter side. Such a cute shop that is the perfect addition to Waimea town. I would definitely recommend coming here for food and to check out the shop! read more

Absolutely loved this place! We spotted it while heading to a brewery in Waimea and decided to try it on our way back! It did not disappoint. Both a store and a coffee shop. We left with some tees, hats and scents and enjoyed their coffee! I love black sesame and tried their iced latte with macadamia mil which was delicious ! The hot version was equally as good and I was also able to source some local turmeric honey to take home. Lovely people also here and a fun crowd! Definitely worth checking out! I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE. So love the location, it's literally right next door to a record shop and a taco restaurant. Love that. IF I HAD A COFFEE SHOP, I WOULD HAVE IT SIMILAR TO THIS. I love the curated products (clothing, food, drinks, accessories, etc) and how it was laid out in the store. It's so cute. I love it. It was a nice and bright, clean shop. But let's really talk about the coffee. THE. COFFEE. OKAY. When I saw that they serve ONYX, did I die on the inside? ABSOLUTELY. I LOVE ONYX. Immediately, I ran out of the bar area looking for my sister because she and I are ABSOLUTELY HUGE fans of Onyx. Did we freak out? Absolutely. It was probably the best cup of coffee I've had while on the big island. It was amazing. I would GLADLY drive 30 minutes one way just for this coffee shop. This is the ONLY coffee shop I've found in the entire state that serves onyx. I hope they never stop. read more

My review is really 4.5 stars, not just 4 stars. I loved the relaxed, beachy vibe and the blonde-wood, minimalist interior, as well as the umbrella-covered pistachio-green tables on the small back patio. The barista was super-friendly. I got a small iced black sesame latte with oat milk; Removed a half star because the drink was ... good(ish) but not great. The sesame taste was mild -- almost too mild -- and for the cost ($7.26 before tip), I was really hoping to taste a hearty blend of espresso and sesame. Will come back for a second try of this drink -- maybe it's better hot! read more

Every time I come to the big island, I come to this café and last time I was here it had a different name, but it's attached to the Surf stop in the front. I believe I was speaking with the owner this afternoon since I'm indecisive on drinks and I love their teas as well as their coffee and the owner politely told me cold brew was a blend from one of the local islands as well as their drip coffee. It was a blend of combo locally grown, and organic as well! Very helpful and inquisitive, I didn't help because I wanted both so I ended up getting two drinks myself! Lol Cold brew; a coffee snob when it comes to things I roast . The iced coffee they have at this particular café are two ones of light roast perfectly have a crisp light note and almost citrus aftertaste that I love and totally quenches my thirst with the beautiful Hawaiian Summer heat! I also wanted to get something to eat, but we just got poke down the street so I figured that was overkill. I truly love the environment and atmosphere of this particular coffee shop. It's very clean and modern looking with a cool relaxing vibe! I love the patio and how they open that area up also!! I would have loved to , have read a book out there while drinking my 2 cups of coffee/tea and getting one of their giant cinnamon roll pastries! Lol!! read more

Used to be called Arvo cafe, is now called Surf Camp cafe. I believe the name has not changed yet here on yelp. Overall, this place was a great place to stop by prior to our road trip around the island. A cute, well decorated cafe with very refreshing vibes and interior design. Drinks were pretty good! Your typical matcha latte and the black sesame was interesting but more coffee-forward. My bf and I got the prosciutto sandwich to share which was also a good bite to eat but again nothing too crazy :) Great place to stop by for the vibes but perhaps not a go-to read more

The Lox Bagel was pretty good! It's a staple for me at coffee shops and this one hit the spot. The latte on the other hand was not great, the coffee acidity is tarte and doesn't pair well with the vanilla. I like a thicker and nuttier espresso, which this definitely wasn't. The workers didn't have the warmest vibe, but the space is cute and has areas to work or really cute outdoor seating if you're looking for aesthetics! read more

The ambiance was nice. Service on point! Coffee was great! Waimea is a nice little town to visit.

Arvo in Waimea is a nice and quaint cafe that is pleasing to the eyes, ears, and mouth. As soon as you walk in, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The menu is simple but has everything you may crave. I tried the Nutella Toast and Smoked Salmon Toast. They were both masterfully made and well-presented. They looked like works of art and tasted great. I also tried an iced vanilla latte and that was nice and creamy, not too sweet, and delicious. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. It seems like a great place to study or do work. There's plenty of seating indoors and great outdoor seating as well. All in all a great cafe with nothing to complain about. read more

This is a really cute shop in our little town. My cash registers though (there were two of them) did not know how to count change. They were short on change in the register so had to figure out how to give me change with coins. The first time, I told them they were short, one of the girls took the change back and tried to recount by adding more coins and handed them to me saying, here you have the right amount now. I recounted in my car and was still short 12 cents. Because of the pricing of items in this shop, as it is on the higher end, I would expect the employees to know how to count change, especially since I overheard one of the girls at the register say she used to be a border at HPA. read more

Love, love , love it here. From the warm aloha service to the coffee to the food & ambiance this is my favorite cafe here on the big island. I love the peaceful vibe of the cafe included the outdoor tables in back surrounded by tropical plants. The lavender iced coffee had subtle notes of lavender with the taste of smooth deliciousness of coffee. The matcha latte was flavorful and iced strawberry mint tea was a favorite. The cucumber toast was beautifully made with thin pieces of cucumber on top of ricotta cheese. I took 1 bite enjoyed the view and looked my daughter & husband scarfed it down. Cannot wait to return. read more

I love the ambiance and vibe of this spot! The $11 avo toast isn't worth it much to a vegan... who removes the cheese toppings... maybe their can be additional savory toppings to substitute in the future? Not my favorite coffee but definitely hits the spot in that cute environment read more

I came here with my family and we were just stopping for coffee, minding our business. As we were leaving, the owner pulled us aside and lectured us for 45min about how much he hates people like us coming to his island. we listened patiently and calmly, yet he proceeded to use attacking words, calling us entitled and disrespectful. He specifically targeted our religious beliefs as well, making assumptions about us as people based on a label. It was a very disappointing conversation and the spirit of Aloha was not felt! The coffee was good though but customer experience could be improved. read more

Good coffee, warm service. My husband's cappucino was the perfect post-lunch treat. Plenty of good things on the menu!

Arvo is a beautifully curated "Instagramable" cafe combined with a surf shop, with a good selection of drinks, even if you aren't drinking coffee! The iced tea was excellent with the perfect touch of sweetness, and we also tried a charcoal latte. They use quality beans from a California-based roasting company that we love, so just be aware it's not local Kona coffee if that's important to you. read more

This place has gone through a recent rebrand to Surf something coffee. We stopped by to grab lunch in Waimea and it was a good stop. Crowded lot and small space but the coffee was particularly good and the food ready fast and filling. The shop on site has lots of cool stuff to browse while you wait. Wouldn't recommend for lounging, at least not when we were there - it was too crowded. Well decorated with airy beach style. read more

My go to for coffee in Waimea, hands down the very best! Their lavender latte, matcha latte, flat white are all excellent! I'm extremely picky when it comes to coffee and Arvo always delivers on this! They could work on their friendliness and service at this particular location, wasn't greeted and they selectively pick who they deliver the coffee they have made to, but it is the most airy, bright, beautiful spot to enjoy a cup of coffee, a loaded avo toast with friends, alone, or to get some work done. It's quaint, but still felt spacious and there are indoor and outdoor spaces in the back. They are attached to surf camp, a surf store with trendy surf/ski essentials. When I arrived it was empty and 5 minutes later, every table was taken, so it just depends on the time you come. Don't miss out on this spot! There's also another location on Oahu that I frequent, and for the most part they kept a lot of the quality, taste the same. I did notice the avo toast to be quite different, namely the bread that they make it on and was initially disappointed bc it wasn't the fluffy bread they usually use, but it was just as good and this version has a much skinnier bread, so less carbs, just as good!!! Waimea needed this cafe, matches perfect with the vibe here! read more
