    Coffee with a view

I'm writing this review from Piko Coffee + Bar... It's a beautiful place to hang for a coffee, snack, or cocktail when staying at the Westin Hapuna! It also happened to be where we hung out and ate pizza and had drinks during the latest tsunami warning! Luckily, we were safe there and there wasn't any damage. Piko offers a different menu based on time of day, plenty of grab and go options all day long and there is also a filtered water station available. Service is fast casual and friendly. We've only been at this hotel for 48 hours and I've been here on three occasions so far and have a feeling I'll be here plenty more during our stay.

Love this center coffee by day and cocktail bar by night spot. We stopped here every day. It's located across from their convenience snack stop so you can grab a snack from there and enjoy with a beverage. They do have a pizza offering at night. Basic for a quick bite. The views are just amazing. Day and night. Sparkling wine is better priced at $9 or $11? while an aperol spritz was $19. Stick with the basics and the bill won't be that bad. Or get a fancier cocktail that's more worth the buck. They have music every night and that was the cherry on top. Relaxing island vibes. Pianist to Guitarist to mesmerizing singing. The staff was very nice so how could you go wrong? I would come here even if I weren't staying.

Another great spot at the Westin Hapuna beach resort. Great place to grab a drink and kick back. They have live music every night from 7-9pm. They also do pizza nights on Monday and Tuesday.

Every time I come here, I always get great service as well as drink recommendations and this time I got some bar snacks: taro chips! Yummmm gorgeous view, great breeze and time to myself! Hee What else is there to ask for? Hee. The bartenders are all locals and they can give great advice about places to go as well as local events and sites to see!

This place double duties as a coffee shop by morning and a cocktail place at night! The review os primarily for the night experience. In the morning is serves coffee and breakfast items. Platinum and above guests can also pick up breakfast to go if they don't want to sit in the restaurant and it consists of coffee , fruit and yogurt. There is also a shop that is open all day with snacks to go. At night there is a small menu and it's also a place to grab a cocktail and watch the sunset! Be aware that cocktails are crazy cost and make Vegas high end places look cheap ! I think mine was $18 but that's par for the course in Hawaii and you do get unparalleled sunset views. Service is spotty!! We were never served the whole time we were there. But it's no big deal to grab a drink and sit down! Also they were missing a few ingredients for some of the cocktails. Drinks however are great but be aware they pour strong !! Mine was crazy potent. Mix of beer, wine , liquor and tropical cocktails. I tried their take on a coral reef, I say a take as they were missing the elderflower liquor but it was still very good though strong ! The second time I had the cucumber lavender lemonade which was so good They will also make up mocktails for the kids too! Nice for a cocktail and sunset views

Located inside the Westin Hapuna Beach resort, Piko Bar is a great place to grab a cocktail and appetizer and just take in the great view of Hapuna Beach. We ordered drinks just before sunset and it was awesome hearing the waves crash on the shore. Recommendations: For whiskey lovers, order the Tiki Old Fashioned, which is made with High West Double Rye Whiskey along with Koloa Coffee Rum. For a tropical drink, order the Ebb & Flow, which is made with Malibu Rum & Tropical juices. For an appetizer, order the Edamumus, a soybean humus. It was such a tasty surprise.

Love this spot for pau hana. Not so much for coffee. Grab & go -- during the day, this coffee/pastry bar (as well as the snack shop nearby) is grab & go, meaning you can just take whatever you want and pay at the register. Being a first timer here, I didn't know the system yet and the barista seemed confused by my confusion so it was just a strange experience overall. Also, the chai latte isn't great. Pau hana -- In the evening, this space turns into a bar with cocktails and sushi. My colleagues and I took up a large area, moving some furniture around to make a meeting space of sorts and the waitress helping us was super kind and accommodating. She even went out of her way to get our party bottles of chardonnay they didn't have on the menu. I'm sure it gets crazy managing a party of 12+, especially when everyone is leaving at different times and paying on different rooms, but our waitress handled us with patience and grace. Their draft beer is crisp and the Chirashi bowl was delicious and filling (I think most of the people in my party ordered the same thing)!

Where do I start? The view: whether it was early morning grabbing a Kona coffee and munching on delectable mini pastries (the banana bread was really moist and flavorful...what kind of magical do you use?) while watching the pale colors of the sunrise transform into a bright day or relaxing at the end of one, while sipping on a cocktail, this is where you want start or end your day. My bf was obsessed with the tiki old-fashioned while I loved my light pina coladas- a very special thank you to Jerry, our mixologist. He's a tall and handsome fellow with these blue-green eyes and he'll give you the inside scoop on places to visit. You can pick up spam musubi, other hot menu items (salmon and rice), chips, macadamia nuts, soft drinks (try the Aloha guava or passionfruit punch), dessert, fruit plates, all in the self-service section. Definitely stop by this place for to-go items or sit and stay for the view.

Wow. Didn't realize this was the coffee bar for the Westin at Hapuna Beach. I've never been inside such a gobsmackingly gorgeous resort. Down on level from the breathtaking lobby is a busy little coffee stand. For not much more than $12 I got two cappuccinos and a box with two malasadas - maybe this cafe is subsidized for the schmancy guests? Very good coffee which I then ended up spilling ALL of after arriving at Hapuna. I put my cup on top of the car but it was so windy that it blew off and splattered all around. Le sigh.

You cannot beat this view. Also, they had friendly service, amazing ceviche (a surprisingly good amount) and the drinks were very good too. We got the jalapeño-hibiscus margarita and the pineapple mojito. Both tasty.

Views - PERFECT sunsets. Cocktails - exceptional, interesting, creative. Service - the bartender I interacted with several times was so sweet! She was cheerful and had great drink recommendations. My fiancée and I loved the coconut foam in the Aolani Tai, and a day later when I asked the bartender if I could buy a little coconut foam to put on another drink I had in the room, she gave me a cup of it free since we liked it so much. The little things like that really are above and beyond.

Piko had the best iced lattes my husband and I have had on the island thus far!!!! The coffee is sooo delicious and aromatic with every sip! Just maybe ask for light ice as it's filled all the way with ice but that's what makes you want to get another and another

Our server, Indana is a lovely young lady. Kind, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable of her treats and establishment food menu as well as beverage. She suggested wine from Croatia that was delicious. The food was delicious, we ordered grilled octopus for appetizer , a local beet and tomatoes salad and a paella with shrimp and clams. Everything was delicious, but.... The smoked paprika added and the caramelized rice gave to the paella a whole new take on the traditional one. Thank you Chef Soto for your creation and for taking the time to talk with us. Wonderful experience!

Rome Meets the Pacific: A Revelation at Meridia…read more There is a specific kind of bravery required to order Carbonara on a tropical island, especially when you are dining with your mother-in-law and your palate is still vibrating from a trip to Italy just a month ago. We had recently dined at a prestigious "Tre Gamberi" trattoria in Rome, so our skepticism was high. We expected a heavy, cream-laden resort interpretation. We were wrong. Under the guidance of Chef Soto, the Carbonara here is not just an imitation; it is an act of alchemy. It is a Roman-meets-Norcia masterpiece--a glossy, golden emulsion of egg, cheese, and guanciale/pancetta, elevated by the earthy whisper of truffle. We were seated at a gorgeous table near the cove often frequented by sea turtles (tartarughe), making this a perfect moment of enjoying a tartufata near the tartarughe. It was, without hyperbole, as good as what we had in Italy. The rest of the meal followed suit in a dizzying display of technique. The Japanese scallops were silken and precise, tasting of the clean, cold ocean. And do not let the whimsical name of the "Poi-cotta" deter you. What sounds like a kitschy pun is actually a dessert of haunting texture and depth--far more compelling and sophisticated than its charming title suggests. Chef Soto visited our table after the meal, his passion for these ingredients palpable. Meridia has always had the view; now, finally, it has the soul to match.

One of the best dining experiences we had during our 3-week trip through Hawaii!…read more I had been looking for Mediterranean food through our stays in Oahu and Maui, but wasn't able to find any til we landed here on Big Island. We went during sunset and it was sooooo beautiful. We ordered: * the 3 dips - loved their muhammara!! Plus the bread is so squishy and soft it absorbs the flavors of the dips so well * burrata salad - very refreshing and well seasoned. I believe it's peach or melon served with it, a very nice touch * grilled octopus - loved the tomato(?) sauce it was served with, and the way they grilled was perfection. Reminded me of the octopus I'd have in Kerekennah, a small island off the coast of Tunisia. Fresh & well seasoned. * Cacio e pepe + chicken: really appreciated how they noticed my husband and I were sharing everything, so they had split the pasta into two bowls. Deliciously made, with it had a bit more sauce tho and that the chicken wasnt so dry. * inside out smores: YUMMY. loved the combo of the graham cracker ice cream with the roasted marshmallow and chocolate sauce + inside the marshmelllw too. In all we spent $190 for 2 people including tax and tip (no drinks). Sure a bit on the pricier side, but we had been spending $90-110 for very average or not even good meals across Hawaii anyways, so didn't seem too bad. Parking is free! Another fabulous Christmas dinner at Manta at the Mauna Kea!…read more It began on a weird note as for the second year running we were relegated to a side table right next to a walkway while all the tables towards the ocean were empty - as we were celebrating a milestone birthday and anniversary we asked if we could be moved and they did kindly accommodate us ! Service was fabulous throughout the dinner which made for a great meal! We began with some cocktails and champagne and a couple of appetizers- the ahi sashimi and the ahi katsu - exceptionally fresh ahi but the sashimi could have been a little cooler and both needed a tad more seasoning! Mains were the standout - I had the Kampachi which was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection served with wasabi gnocchi, my husband had the catch of the day - a snapper, also fabulous. The kids had the seared ahi which was melt in your mouth served with Bok Choy which they loved and a taro mash which was not good and we could have done without! Luckily the views were amazing & I didn't mind waiting. We got outdoor seating and wow just loving the ocean view, while enjoying our breakfast at the same time. The wait staff were on top of it, checking on us to see if we needed anything else. I took my time just enjoying every bite and the views. The breakfast buffet ($50.) so much food, so many choices, some of the offerings were: hot foods = has breakfast meats, eggs, corned beef hash, Japanese theme with make your own miso soup, salmon & fish, abundant of sweets, pastries, breads, fresh waffle and omelet section. Out of all items from the buffet line, I made a plate of sausage, corn beef, rice and omelet X 2 and waffle. I was stuffed and couldn't go for the other stuff. hehe. Although I wish I made room for miso soup and fish. I really enjoyed my omelet choice requested for fresh eggs. Not every time I get to eat omelet so that was hits. The omelet line does get long, the only guy cooking handles 3 pan, that is talent! The staff at check in mentioned about seeing the Manta Rays here, If you see the light shining at night, that's the Manta. We missed that. So cool that the restaurant named "Manta" for Manta Rays. All in all, such a great experience, lovely breakfast enjoyed by me & my love, at the Manta and we are ready for Sunday's adventure, a day filled with walking, exploring the property and swimming! I would love to check out dinner during my next visit, maybe for our 30th anniversary, hope to spot some Manta Rays- Truly grateful moments!
