I absolutely Love CP!! A new find and neighborhood gem! It's tucked away in a small parking lot right off of Cumberland. Service was friendly, prompt and the overall vibe is super Italian old school. I believe the owner is there every day and each time we are there, he always says thank you and have a nice day at the end. Coffee and sandwiches are so good! Relatively affordable as well! Felt terrible "disrupting" the neighborhood gentleman having their post-dinner espresso. Two sandwiches served with Lay's potato chips a Sprite and a Pellegrino @$31 my St. Joe's relatives are spinning. We were nearby for a wake and wanted a quick bite and it was better than McD's. 4 bucketed Gelato flavors including Vanilla and Mint Chocolate Chip. Opted to pass. Moving on. read more

Caffè Pronto is a small Italian cafe on Cumberland. When sitting inside you may feel like you are overseas. They also have a small outdoor seating area. We had the panzerotti which was like a calzone. My husband also tried the arancini. Both were good. The service was quick and friendly. We are glad we stopped in for a quick lunch. read more

Pulled into Caffè Pronto in Norridge to kick off my morning with an americano and a pair of panzerotti--ended up dropping about $9 before tip. The coffee was bold and hot--just how I like it--and those panzerotti were pillowy and cheesy with a tangy sauce that hit the spot. The place has a cozy, neighborhood energy with outdoor seating and friendly banter between folks--all feels low‑key and inviting . Staff checked in at the right times--no hovering, but they made sure I was good. Nit‑pick: the music was a bit loud for a chill coffee hang, could dial it down a notch. But overall, this bakery‑cafe combo is solid--good prices, warm atmosphere, and reliable flavors--definitely coming back when I'm in the hood. read more

Best coffee drinks around. Stop here every time I am coming to and leaving O'Hare. I've had their croissant which is good. Can't comment on the rest of the menu but Italian coffee house items all on sale. read more

Nice little coffee shop, with a small business vibe. If you're looking for something different than a Starbucks or Panera, with character and warmness, come check out Caffè Pronto. When we came here, there was a group of local immigrants gathering around the big screen TV, watching the soccer (I'm sorry... I mean football) game. Not into coffee? That's fine. They have great desserts, like cake and pie, and gelato and tea. The person behind the counter was super friendly and nice. This place seems like where you can come out and share stories of how it was back at home and enjoy a really good cup of coffee. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I can't believe it's taking me so long to go here even though I passed this little gem of an Italian Cafe on my way to work everyday. The owner was so nice and accommodating. We came here on a Sunday and there was a good crowd, great community feel and atmosphere. I tried the egg cheese, ham croissant and ordered the prosciutto sandwich. I had the coffee mocha and ordered the iced caramel latte. The iced caramel latte was out of this world. I was definitely jealous that I didn't order that. We had a great time and we'll be back possibly later today to try the iced coffee. read more

We got a lot of food. Prosciutto sandwich, eggplant sandwich, bear claw, and tiramisu. In all honesty the bear claw was old, there wasn't a lot of toppings on the eggplant sandwich, they forgot our chips, and the tiramisu was frozen when we got it. BUT!!! BUT the prosciutto sandwich was freaking AMAZING, the bear claw tasted better when you heated it up, and once the tiramisu thawed it was also very good. My sandwich was absolutely fantastic and is the main reason I'm giving it 5 stars. I will order this over and over again and will love it forever. This is a small non chain coffee shop which also offers some ice cream and other items. The staff is great and the wait time for your drink is short. The shop is clean and has plenty of seating inside and outside. Access is easy from the street and parking is available. read more

We were in the area and wanted to get a quick coffee and breakfast before we start sour day. Due to the great reviews on Yelp, we decided to check out this place. The cafe is situated in a small plaza and the parking lot was full of cars by the time we got there at 10 AM. There's an outdoor patio where many men were gathering and smoking early in their morning with their coffees. The counter was run by one of the co-owners and she was fantastic. It was a super busy day and unfortunately one of her employees was running an hour late so she was manning the entire cafe by herself. I got a cappuccino and my partner got an iced americano, both of which the woman made super quickly before we paid and got a table to wait for our sandwiches. The wait wasn't long at all, considering how it was a one woman show the entire morning! I highly suggest coming to check out the Caffè Pronto if you're ever in the area to support the local business! read more

This coffee place is a real gem. I almost don't want to review cause I'd like to keep it secret. This is a real, old fashioned, Italian coffee house/bistro. The ambiance is terrific. Neighborhood people always there just having an expresso and talking. There are a couple of tables outside which is so nice...even though the parking lot is right there it doesn't seem to matter. A gorgeous little cafe! If you live near a metropolitan area, it's sometimes not easy to come across a nice local cafe with exquisite coffee and interior. I'm glad I stayed near the Cumberland area and visited this place. I ordered a double shot espresso, and it was simply marvelous. Like walking into some blend of 1950's Newark, Satriale's from "The Sopranos," and your favorite cuppacino place. The food is average (my sandwich was cooked in the microwave), the coffee options quite good, but that's not why I'd come back. You walk in, there's three older Italians playing cards in the side room. In front, 5 guys are speaking Italian watching AC Milan. The hostess sprinkles in authentic Italian as she speaks to you. If I could fall in love with a business, then this would be one of those places. It brought me back to my travels around Italy, the smaller villages. I was a bit hesitant walking in, thinking, I'm an outsider and everyone is just going to stare me down, but no one batted an eye. I was met with friendly banter and a great cappuccino. Now, if you are looking for a crafted coffee drink from a hip coffee shop, you are not going to get that here, and that's ok. There is no attitude from some snotty barista, but you get a great cappuccino or espresso, made with love. They use Kimbo beans, just like you would find in Italy. And I had a pistachio cornetto along with it. Between that and listening to the neighborhood gentlemen chatting in Italian, I felt like I belonged. So happy that we made the move to this neighborhood and we found Cafe Pronto. read more

Small business with all the Italian classics. We came early for some breakfast and coffee. We are not familiar with the area but wanted a local place and we're happy we found this. I had an apricot croissant (flaky, gooey inside) perfect amount for a small breakfast. Husband got a ham, egg and cheese croissant. Although, he would have liked the ham to be warm he ate every morsel. If I lived here this would definitely be one of my regular stops in this city for coffees and small breakfasts to tie me over. read more

I can't say enough about the authenticity of a local Italian five deli this place was. They even had Italian television on. Young guy at the counter was super friendly, heavy Italian accent and accommodated every request. Food was spectacular! Espresso, gelato, Italian ice to have with your sandwiches. It has been one (1) year and half since I wrote the initial review. Let me tell you. This place is truly Italians' social club: grab some cappuccino, mingle with some strangers, in Italian or in English, or just watch some TV. I can guarantee that you won't be left alone at Caffe Pronto. This is not a coffeeshop for you to get work done; it's a spot to hang out! Coffee is delicious and reasonably priced. I haven't had anything but latte and cappuccino. However, they serve sandwiches and gelato. Parking is plenty, and many of the people are super regulars. I often come with hubby who speaks fluent Italian. While mine is at a very elementary level, I still have fun listening to their conversations and make myself at home. read more

I'm a barista myself, and I've been to a LOT of places for coffee. The barista was so nice, biscotti was great, and my iced americano was fantastic. Really solid family vibe filled with fun decor, mostly an homage to Italy. There's a ton of Italian pastries and a full menu, which I wish I tried. This is about 30 minutes away from me, but well worth the trip read more

Worth driving out of the way for! Stopped in for a coffee and also enjoyed a fresh apricot croissant. Both were delicious. The place has a friendly and welcoming vibe. Would have been happy to stay and visit as many other patrons were doing, but we had to get to a hockey tournament. We will definitely be back for a nice coffee and baked treat and maybe lunch while we're in town. read more

Established in 2011.

Caffe Pronto is the brainchild of Silvio Fantauzzo, an Italian entrepreneur that wanted nothing more than to bring a little slice of the real Italy to Chicago. He first opened his doors to the public in 1996. After only being open for 3 months, he decided to sell the business when his son passed away suddenly. Almost 16 years to the day, Silvio has re-opened his doors, reviving both the dream and the name, Caffe Pronto.

Service was not great as we had to ask for the waitress twice to order and to get water and bread refills. Still the waitress knew the menu and specials well and was professional. We got complimentary water, warm bread, olive oil and grated parmesan cheese (probably from a food service as it sat on the table in a ramekin). We shared a glass of house Chianti and fried calamari. I got Tagliolini Neri Fra Diavola and she got Fettucine alla Panna. The wine tasted cheap, calamari was mediocre and the pastas were good, but far from excellent; better than Olive Garden but comparable to Romano's Macaroni Grill. For the prices it should have been much better. The dining room where we sat was clean and attractive but getting worn. The men's room about the same as the dining room. All in all it was a pleasant evening but not the quality experience that other reviews suggested. The restaurant is clearly resting on their reputation and needs a big refresh. For 1 glass of house wine, a shared appetizer and 2 pastas plus tax and tip we spent $140. It was worth about half of that.

The old section of the restaurant has also been remodeled tastefully.

The newly open expanded restaurant is elegant yet cozy and unpretentious.

For main dishes we ordered spaghetti and meat balls and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Both pasta dishes were great. The meatball was flavorful and the Alfredo sauce was classic. For dessert we spit tiramisu and I ordered a do double espresso. The tiramisu was young with a hint of cinnamon. The only downside was that espresso was burnt. Third the service was great. The waiter was nice and our food came out fast. In sum this great Italian restaurant that's worth trip the burbs.
