Great sandwiches and smell of cafecito I'm craving one at this moment only a few other places like this one really only three

The steak sandwiches are overpriced; this place is under new management. The sandwiches are lacking flavor and do not taste as good as before. read more

Ordered 2 Cubans and 1 Media Noche. What I got was terrible and not what I ordered. Called...Your female staff response today 5/12 ~3pm. If I wanted mustard, pickel and cheese. I would need to ask for it on the sandwhich. Go look up a Cuban sandwich. First I'm Cuban. Second my father cut your father's hair and been going to the old Milwauke site for decades, your too. WHAT YOUR STAFF SAID IS WRONG AND THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A CUBAN. This Cuban and others that want a real CUBAN, will find a new place. She was also rather rude...I told her I wasnt looking for free food and try to tell her the history. Listen to your customer base, if you want them to return. read more

Cafeteria Marianao - Menu 10/22/21 - Cuban Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Great Cuban Sandwiches & Cuban coffee! I prefer this location over the one on Addison! Bring cash!!

Food is amazing I move to Colorado and every time I come back I stop by for a sandwich never changes

Marianao cafe is on of the most wonderful places to have a cafe con leche, a cafe cubano and a Cuban, or any other sandwich, ham and cheese, steak and cheese etc... All of them are delicious! And the cafe is superb, Plus where do you drink a cafe cubano por one dollar? You can't say you are a "foodie"... or that you have experience restaurants in Chicago if you haven't try marianao. This cafe is one of a legendary place in the Latino community. The workers have been forever, today I found out that one has been working here 24 years! Is cash only Don't look for fancy Is tasty Good and delicious Be patient, Long lines and be ready to experience some "cultural" immersion and delicious food If you are intolerant in any way This place is not for you A true Chicagoan? You will love this place! I come here once in a while, not to often And just looovee this place read more

Cafeteria Marianao - Bistec Encebollado Cuban sandwich! - Cuban Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This place has cheap Cuban sandwiches which were not too shabby.. They could use more flavors and sauces to make it more savory. The bread was the best part since it was slightly crispy on the outside. The plain churro I ordered was dry. There were a few seats by the counter and on the side. It could be fixed up a bit to look more appealing. read more

Cafeteria Marianao - Steak sandwich - Cuban Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Ridiculous Cuban sandwiches! It's a tiny spot and just a few stools. It's definitely unique. There's somebody there to take your order as soon as you walk in. I ordered the breakfast steak and egg/ham sandwich with cheese. They add some cooked onions and tomato on it. The sandwich has so much flavor and the meat was tender and juicy the bread was on point. You can't go wrong with their cafe con leche either. 100% recommend! read more

Cafeteria Marianao - Cuban Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Their sandwiches are usually quiete delicious. However, when I came in today to order (I usually go to the location on Addison) I noticed the guy preparing my sandwich did not wear gloves the entire time. Absolutely unacceptable. That's disgusting. Every establishment that prepares food should be required to wear gloves. read more

If you happen to find yourself in the area, stop by Cafe Marianao! Now to anyone that frequents here, we know that there's a lot to complain about... The phone number that doesn't work, the awkward parking situation, the limited about of seats vs. the amount of space that's in the place, the fact that it closes at 4pm everyday, and the customer service. Now that we've gotten all that out of the way, make your way over here to order a Double Steak Sandwich with a large Cafe Con Leche. That's the only thing I've ever gotten from either location in the past 5 years (but I hear everything is good). This food is best served hot and fresh. So either eat there or eat it in your car. I've done either depending on the weather outside. You may ask, why would I rate this place 4 stars despite the logistical issues here. My reasons are 1. I love to support neighborhood businesses and a helpful review that attracts more customers may get some of these issues resolved. 2. The food is damn good. 3. The coffee is great! 4. I love this place and you should too. read more

The café con leche is just perfect. Enjoyed with a churro and jamón con huevo y queso sándwich. The food and coffee is reminiscent of Cafe la Parroquia in Veracruz Mexico my birthplace. read more

WHAT A LET DOWN! ****Warning cartons of eggs were stacked on each-other NOT ON ICE and next to the hot stove-top! I'm sorry but they have lost their touch! Café Marianao is a CUBAN establishment. I didn't want to jump conclusions but they definitely have lost their touch!!! The last time I've stopped in was about five years. I wanna start by saying that I love Mexicans and love their food even more and this is not to be offensive to any Mexicans and Mexican Americans whatsoever however when I walked in I noticed all the cooks and those making the coffee were Mexican. The music playing on the loud speakers throughout the whole restaurant was Mariachi music. Not a problem but it's a Cuban establishment. Whoever the owners are they aren't teaching the workers to make the food and coffee properly. I ordered a cafe con leche which was ok. It didn't have the same taste as I remember. I also ordered a pan con mantequilla. Mind you this place is known for AWESOME bread. Nope my bread was just a little warm and the butter didn't even melt. I had to ask for them to toast it more. The guy response, "oh you want it really toasted?" Ummmm yes that's why it's called pan con mantequilla! I'm done! Off to find a new place! read more

The steak sandwich Also very nice people Awesome service Will always come back for more.

I like the sandwiches n coffee I've been going since I was a kid definitely recommend this place

The steak sandwiches give me life....as for the people complaining about it being a cash only establishment CASH IS KING! Credit card companies charge businesses way to much to use their services. But anyway...back to the sandwich. YUMMY! read more

I feel cheated, like I had this really good thing right under my nose and failed to find it. This neighborhood jewel has been here for a long time from what I have been told. I have walked, biked, jogged, driven, and might have even moon walked right past this place countless times. I finally found out about this place, with it's steak sandwiches and café con leche that is second to none, and it was all by happenstance. I won't get in to the details about how I found out, the main focus here is awesome food. This place is a neighborhood dive, in the nicest way possible. Nothing fancy here, just a place that cranks out awesome steak sandwiches. I always get the double with a café con leche, and when I take that first bite, I swear everything is right with the world. If you love steak or Cubano, or a nice greasy breakfast, this is the spot to go. I am now a regular, as I like to frequent this place for lunch, or whenever I am within 100 miles. What are you doing still reading this mediocre review, go over there NOW! read more

One of the best places to get cafe con Leche and steak sandwich, or Cuban sandwich, or ham/cheese/egg, "media Noche", ... - north side of Chicago. Espresso = colada "if you dare!" Delicious, basic Cuban sandwiches. The pork is really tender and the bread toasted to perfection. The cafe con leche is the perfect sweetness. Honestly, the pan com mantequilla and cafe con leche was sooo good I only ate half my sandwich. The cooks are also very friendly. read more

This has been one of my favorite places for steak and Cuban sandwiches. The best is coni g here in the morning and grabbing a steak and egg sandwich for breakfast. It will turn your entire day around. They also sell plantain chips which is a huge plus in my mind. I've been coming here for years and would definitely recommend it. read more

Let me start by saying I frequented the original location on Milwaukee a lot growing up and was very shocked and disappointed when I found out they where closing. I was told that this is where the old staff moved to and that it was just the same as before. I came here today 9-17-17 for lunch to my surprise it was empty. I ordered a double steak sandwich with cheese. The sandwich was definitely a disappointment becuase they no longer or maybe just in my case toast the bread on the panini grill like before. Why try to re-invent the wheel when it works perfectly fine ? I'm sorry but I probably wont be back for a while hopefully by then they realize they should stick to the classics. read more

Marianeo best sandwiches and pleasant owners . William santiago was a energetic man with a great heart . May rest in peace

Since I was a little school girl, my dad would take me to the original spot on Armitage and now I bring my kids to their current location! No matter where they move my family and I follow! Their sandwiches are the BEST! Often imitated NEVER duplicated! read more

I'm 42 years old and been coming to this place since I was eight years in their original location on Armitage I tried out the new location for the first time today on Milwaukee and Addison The workers had no idea what they were doing sandwich was terrible beef was over 1 inch thick in some areas which is crazy for a Steak sandwich that's deep fried There was absolutely no flavor it's almost like they forgot to put the vinegar This place is known for having the best coffee ever and today's experience was the worst.. coffee had absolutely no sugar was about 200° hot and you couldn't even taste because it would burn your lips I think these people need to go with the original guys for training before they start serving to the public read more

Not impressed with the service at all! The man behind the counter treated me with total disrespect because I am a white female and I will never go there again. Not to mention food was average. I ordered a cuban coffee and steak sandwich. I sat at the counter and watched 10 other customers come in and order the steak sandwich and coffee. The other customers received their coffee when they placed their order and they put it under the machine to warm it up. After 4 minutes of watching others get their coffee as soon as they ordered it, I asked for my coffee as I sat there and he poured it out of the caraff without evening warming it up. Coffee was weak due to the large amount of milk that they have in the coffee. Others were also getting additional black coffee poured into their cup to strengthen the mixture. Sandwich was delivered in a to-go bag even when I did not ask for it to go. As I sat and ate the sandwich that have very little steak within the french bread. Flavor was lacking and steak was not tender. Had gristle. I will never go again due to the disrespect, lack of flavor with the steak and overall cup of cold milk flavored with a bit of coffee. read more

First of all they need to get updated, I mean not everyone carries cash these days, second phone number on google says disconnected, needs more flavor to the meat. Customers should be treated as you would like to me treated and how you would like your food made you know what I mean. But again I guess they get away with it because it is cheap! Milwaukee was way better! read more

I've always gotten my coffee and sandwiches from Marianao. Even now that I live further away its worth the trip.

One of the best steak sandwiches in the city. Cuban style. Cafe con leche is always fresh and the steak always tender.
