3.5 Stars The staff is friendly, but the food is not quick(I hope it's because the food is made fresh!). The authentic greek food is really good. Don't order anything else. My husband has ordered lasagne - flavorless. Lots of the italian items aren't that good. The hummus, tzatziki, baba ganoush dips are great. I heart them the most. I am not a fan of those pita chips they make. The flat bread that comes w/ the dips are good. I live .5 miles from here so it's convenient, but I wouldn't say it's something for which I'd travel far. read more

This is one of my favorite working from home escapes in the late afternoon, before dinner. The food is fresh, fresh made in front of you and the entire menu is fantastic. I've never had a bad meal at Cafesano. I especially love the patio during good weather as a place to sit, work and while the afternoon away over looking the lake with awesome food! The staff is always at your service with a smile and happy to help you! @HudnallsHuddle read more

I love this place. We come here as a family regularly and have tried just about everything. It's all delicious - never been disappointing. We're a family that likes to sit around, drink wine, and socialize. This place not only accommodates that with a pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere, but does so with affordable wine prices and variety. Sitting outside in the summer is a treat - but beware, the patio fills up fast. read more

This is the best Italian Cafe in the area. The pizza is fantastic The salad is huge. Great place

Best restaurant in Reston! Amazingly fresh food at an affordable price. The staff is always accommodating and nice, and it's a great South Reston neighborhood restaurant. All of the pizzas are delicious, but if you are looking for something lighter I would recommend the avocado cheddar panini. Outdoor seating overlooking the lake! read more

I have been hearing about this spot for a while now so today I decided to stop by for lunch since I had been craving it for a while. When I first walked in, the decor was beautiful, crisp and clean. Fresh produce and salad makers were putting together salads. I decided to order a chicken schwarma. Let just say that I was disappointed in the size and portion. The chicken was flavorless, there was a slice and a half of tomato, plenty of lettuce and a grilled pita. The best part of the lunch was the pita. It came with a "garlic sauce" which looked more like a butter that was just unbelievable strong. Maybe I just came in on a bad day, but I have decided I will give this place one more try. I could have ordered something that really isn't their best dish. The only thing that really did it for me was the appearance of how spotless and fresh things looked. read more

We ordered takeout from Cafesano for the first time last night when we had a group of friends over for game night. The menu features a wide variety of options so there was something for everyone. The one negative is that there is no delivery. Be sure to check the hours online/ask when you place your order if you pick-up is at the restaurant or down at the catering store (it depends on the day and time). We tried a variety of salads, pizzas, kebabs, and lasagna. The Greek salad was good, while the house salad was basic. Everyone who ordered pizza was happy and there weren't any leftovers. The crust was perfectly crispy, yet doughy (delicious brick oven pizza). The lasagna was just ok. The kebab platters were plentiful and didn't disappoint... Tip: order extra tzatziki sauce. We'll definitely order from Cafesano again, or try dining in the restaurant. read more

I was a huge fan of this place. Great food for a reasonable price. Not sure what has happened in the last week but everything has been off. On Monday August 24th, I went there with my boyfriend and daughter. We ordered a kids cheese pizza, and a Greek pizza and a Greek salad. You can't really mess up a salad (or so I thought) so I was satisfied with it but both pizzas were burnt on the bottom. Burnt to the point my daughter, who can kill an entire kids pizza in one sitting, had a hard time getting through it, and my boyfriend was complaining the entire time. That was strike one. Strike two came today when I ordered a Greek salad, again, because it's amazing. Half way through my salad I realized that the olives were missing. The whole point of a Greek salad are the olives and the feta cheese. Strike three came just a few hours later when our dinner plans were cancelled and decided to have a go at getting a margharita pizza from cafe sano. Burnt bottom. After driving back to get our money back, they gave us another margherita pizza for free but once we were home (strike four) the bottom was burnt. Are your flames too high? Is the oven being cleaned enough? Are you keeping it in the oven too long? What happened to the amazing pizza you used to make? We are fed up with the dissatisfaction we have experienced and will not likely return. read more

Popped in here with a hungry family (wife, 15 year old, 12 year old, and 8 year old) on the spur of the moment. Love the relaxed atmosphere in an attractive decor. My son and I had the falafel wrap - mine with the greek potatoes and his with fries. My daughter had a kids pasta (farfalle) and my wife had a caesar salad. I thought the food was great for the price point. The falafel was excellent, but the greek potatoes weren't really anything more than fried wedge potatoes with a garlic aioli. It was fine, but nothing really great, but I didn't pay extra for them so it's a minor point. The fries were actually really good, funny enough. The caesar salad was good, but the parmesan doesn't really have much flavor. I was pretty surprised when I tasted it that an Italian/Mediterranean place doesn't use a higher quality parmesan. Under $30 including drinks. I will be working my way through their menu over the coming months now that I'm moving to Reston. read more

Best greek food I've ever had and they've been great with curbside pickup during COVID. Can't recommend this place enough.

Terrible phone service while ordering. Said they would call back with cost and called back four hours later saying they were closing early the day I asked to have them delivery even though I asked multiple times if the day/time was confirmed. Frustrating customer service. Did not have a chance to try the food. read more

Awful experience ordering take out - I went to the main location in Reston at the time they stated to pick up my order, but they explained that despite the "Take Out Here" sign, I had to pick up my take out down the street at another location. When I went there, they handed me my order and a tiny cup as my $2.75 fountain drink. The cup was slightly larger than a dixie cup... what a scam! When I brought my food home ~5 minutes away, the food was lukewarm. Will not be ordering this again for a restaurant that skimps and doesn't regard the customer's experience. read more

Great food! Basmati rice is a little salty and the salads are small so make sure you get something else if you're hungry. The steak kabob meal is delicious and portion size is perfect, the fries are also great. read more

This review is for takeout using online ordering. We've lived here for 2.5 years and have eaten at/from CafeSano many times. The food is great, but I dread the takeout experience. It takes WAY too long. Tonight I placed an order at 5:15 for pickup in 30-45 minutes. We showed up 45 minutes later and sat waiting for half an hour. This happens every time now. I don't know if their algorithm is off that predicts wait time or if they're horribly understaffed or what, but they're not reliable at all if you're pressed for time. read more

Just what I wanted, a tasty, quick, healthy meal. Spot on!

This is my safest bet always. Nice location , decent service and good food which includes lot of varieties. We catered food for one of my parties and my guests were happy. Best time to go here is in fall. The view is spectacular. read more

How is it that I have not rated this place before now? It's been my favorite place to eat and hang out since it opened. Food is great views are outstanding staff is wonderful locally owned. What's not to love? Well they are a bit of a victim of their own success so things can take a while during peak times. I often order by phone prior to getting there and eat by the lake. read more

Ordered for the second time through DoorDash and was missing one item. Same item interestingly. Called the restaurant and voice mail came on to leave a message. Still haven't heard back from them. Usually order for a group but moving on to other restaurants for the future as twice in a row and missing same item indicates time to choose other restaurants of which there are plenty. Too bad as the food is good when you can get it. read more

I have previously been to the newer Cafesano in Dulles, so I can compare. Cashier here doesn't know their menu, we had hard time explaining that I need to replace pita with corn tortilla due to allergy. We got lamb kabob plates. Lamb was undercooked - too much blood. I had to ask to cook it properly. On better side - this location has a great view on a small lake. read more

I along with 4 other coworkers went there for lunch yesterday. I was looking forward to my lunch since it had been a while since we had eaten there. It was so disappointing. I ordered a Ceasar salad with a vegetable kabob. I love this salad, but yesterday not so much. Not only did it not look fresh, it didn't taste much better. The lettuce was wilted and dripping with dressing. In addition, the service was slow. read more

Customer service is totally absent from the catering manager's demeanor. Good luck explaining what you need or obtaining answers or help in any way. He will likely speak over you, telling you he is very very busy and cannot help you. Despite the fact that you are a current client, he is totally unwilling to take time for customer concerns. Decent food, but zero manners, professionalism or concern for client satisfaction. read more

As Alan S. noted, I've heard good things about this place and decided to check it out on my lunch break. When I called in my order, I selected carry out (#1). This directed me to the cafe which is a completely separate location then the restaurant. I ordered the grilled chicken pesto panini and they said it would take 20 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and waited an additional 15 minutes for my order for a total of 30 minutes. There were many people waiting long periods of time for their orders also. They were obviously very busy and couldn't handle the large volume. When i opened my order at my desk (which is across the street), it was not hot and not even warm. It was barely pressed in the panini press. I am very disappointed that I spent $10 on a so, so sandwich.I will not be going back to order carry out. I might consider trying the restaurant next time. read more

A very nice Mediterranean cafe. I saw many reviewers stated the food was fresh, and it is. And the location is surprising, in a shopping center but overlooking a lake and the inside is quite attractive and comfortable, too. We as a family for takeout and were all quite pleased. For the small kids, I skipped the kids' menu (just same-o pizza and nuggets) and got them each a skewer of chicken and order a side of potato wedges. They were quite happy but would have been very happy with another half skewer each. The older kids got kabob platters. All really like them, but the shrimp was the treasure. We plan to all get some shrimp skewers at least on the next trip. I see another reviewer talked about a line and the business outgrowing their location. I was surprised at how small it is, but we didn't encounter a line (at least no more than a few other parties). Our family went on a Thursday night around 7 pm over Easter break so that may explain the lack of excessive business. They do have an option to order on line and pick up which I think would be quite easy to do and avoid rush times. I did think the price was a bit high for the serving sizes but I know prices are going up. And it is nice to get something fresh, tasty and that everyone liked. read more

I ordered a chicken platter for $13.03 The plate was full of uncooked rice, 5 or 6 very small peaces of chicken no flavor no spices at all. And some vigges. The environment of the place is nice. Should have a few tables with electric outlets. Recommend for the owner to visit a few real Kabob places in the area. read more

Overview: An Italian/Mediterranean restaurant in an unassuming Reston strip mall/shopping center. This seems to be a local food favorite and I've eaten here often in the past 4 years that I've been in the area. They have a decent variety of food so that pretty much everyone can find something they'd like to eat. The food is quite good and priced well, especially considering the quality and the atmosphere. My office has also used them for catering lunches, which are always received well. So when my friend asked for a recommendation to take his mother for a nice weekday lunch, this seemed to be the perfect answer. We went at 2pm, well after the lunch rush (it can get quite busy during the lunch hour), so it was pretty quiet and relaxed and we could enjoy the view of Lake Thoreau from our indoor table. Since I'd already eaten lunch, I only had a bowl of lentil soup, but it absolutely hit the spot and was very tasty. My friend also had the signature salad (which he liked) while his mother had the avocado, tomato & mozzarella salad, which she seemed to enjoy immensely. I also strongly recommend the baked lavash chips. They are SO GOOD. The people who work there have always seemed polite and friendly to me. No problems on that end. Bottom line: A great place to go for a casual meal and a nice atmosphere. read more

My lunch go-to! I recommend calling before and placing your order ahead of time to avoid the veryyyy long lunch rush lines!

Yelp, you let me down. Went to grab a quick lunch with my fiance. Ordered the marinated chicken kebabs (~$13) and a margarita pizza (~$11). The pizza wasn't bad, not great. The chicken was awful. I don't know why people can't use boneless, skinless, all white meat chicken breasts for kebabs. My fiance bit into a piece of chicken and it was crunchy. Another piece was half bloody half fat. Would've been better off going to Zoes and we would've saved money. Rice was tasteless and salad wasn't that great either. Will not be returning. read more

We have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately, the last two times we have gotten takeout, the service has been problematic. This last time when we arrived to pick up curbside, they informed us that someone had forgotten to enter our order (we ordered online) and they had to cook the food. So we had to wait an extra 30 minutes. I understand mistakes happen but there was no apology, no offer to discount our meal or throw in a free brownie or anything. We won't be back again soon, though we do still like the food! read more

Cafesano is close to where I live. I have been here multiple times and had excellent experience every time. It's located right next to Lake Thoreau. I don't recall if they have outdoor seating but its location is excellent for it. Service is fast, and food has been great on all the occasions. I would absolutely recommend their cannoli and tiramisu for dessert. Zucchini Fritti and Avocado Bruschetta are great choices for appetizer. Menu price is very reasonable and I would count this place as cheat eat. Some of the menu items do run above $10 but most of them are less than that. Also, plenty of choices for vegetarians. read more

Inexpensive mediteranean lunch and dinner service made with fresh ingredients and a view of Lake Thoreau. The Good! -- Great brick oven pizza, good salads, nice wraps (chicken shawarma and falafel are my favorites) paired with house-made lavash chips, and grilled paninis are quite nice at very reasonable prices. Its made with the fresh ingredients you see there in the glass casing as you walk in so you can be sure the freshest ingredients make it onto your plate. I like the place much better for lunch (they have a carry out center just down from the main restaurant) for its convenience. If I have more time, I can sit by the window and watch the ducks swimming in the lake below. The mehhhhhhh-----Wine list leaves something to be desired (I'm unsure if they pump the bottles to keep air out, as the chateau ste michelle pinot gris was quite vinegary...) but then again I am a bit particular about my vino :-) The ugly--- Things to avoid: grape leaves (no meat nor veggies, just rice wrapped in a salty leaf), regular hummus (thoough the red pepper hummus is a thing of beauty and the garlic variety is not bad), and the lentil soup. Service can be either friendly and cheerful or mad rushed, confused and terse when a big crowd sets in for lunch. read more

Best neighborhood cafe we could ask for! Cafe sano is consistently good quality food.

Thanks Yelpers, for the suggestion! I bookmarked Cafesano and when a friend and I were contemplating where to go for dinner, we decided to try it out. We did a quick drive-by to pick up the food. There are no servers; everything is done at the register. The interior of Cafesano is really charming and quaint with candles and the establishment sits on a lake. The restaurant was very clean and they had cute writing everywhere. Some yelpers said it was like a higher scale Panera but I thought it was muuuuuuch nicer than a Panera. During pickup the cashier read the order back to us and then when she handed us our order she checked the bag again, which is always nice, cause you don't want to drive back if there are any problems. I got the avocado, asiago and tomato wrap. It was very flavorful. Some vegetarian sandwiches can be quite bland but this one was absolutely not bland. I also got the tsatski with pita bread and it was superb. They also added a side of pita chips and orange slices. My friend got the steak kabob which she really enjoyed but later into the meal she thought the stake tasted a little old. She also got the greek potatoes but they were a bit overcooked. All of the sauces were really tasty. This is a healthy place to grab a quick bite for a good price (dinner for the two of us was $28). read more

You may ask, "Does Cafesano really need another 5 star review?" Yes, yes it does. I have the great fortune of living steps away from this glorious establishment, and I must say it is amazing. If you love Mediterranean and Greek food, this is the place to go. If you're new to this type of food, try it first with Cafesano -- there are dishes that dabble in Med/Greek flavors, but aren't exactly the full cooking style. They also have some more "robust" dishes if you're feeling more adventurous. I wouldn't say it's as traditional as say, Mykonos, which is right down the road -- but it's certainly refreshing and delicious. Basically what I'm trying to say is that there is a fantastic dish here for everyone, so give it a whirl! read more

This restaurant has really great food. BUT - they have a consistently bad problem with take-out accuracy. The last 4 times we have ordered take out, something is missing. Very frustrating when you get home to find out part of your order is missing. Management needs to fix this problem! In the mean time, open your bag and make sure they put everything g in it! read more

Cafesano is my absolute favorite Reston lunch spot. (Though be warned, during the 12-1:30 lunch hour on weekdays, there is often a line out the door and difficulty finding a place to sit.) I am a vegetarian, and I love how varied the options are for me! The baba ghanoush is my favorite anywhere, it is nice and smoky, and not too heavy or oily. I love the Bianca Insalata, which is a white pizza that basically has a tossed arugula, onion, olive, and asiago salad on top. It manages to be light and refreshing, which is a difficult think for a pizza to accomplish. Of the salads, the avocado, tomato, and mozzarella is my favorite. Though it is also the one dish of my favorites that I have complaints about. The size of the salad can vary drastically. It costs the amount of a full meal, and sometimes it comes out that size, with everything looking perfect, but other times it comes out half the size and rather sloppy. I guess it depends on who is making them? Their fresh brewed tea and homemade lemonade are both delicious, and I like to mix the two. I also loooove the lavash chips that come with certain meals. But this review has gotten long enough already. read more
