Was in the area and found this restaurant on yelp with great reviews. They were spot on! Small restaurant in small strip mall. Great food and excellent service. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Wife had Margarita Sandwitch and I had their Cubano. One of the best I've had. Shared black bean soup which was good. Will definitely be back. Was good to see how busy they are! read more

This restaurant is a unique gem around Calabasas. Love the authenticity and richness of Cuban food. Service is always great. Restaurant may be small depending on the time of day. Occasionally, me and my friend would find the resturant full, but we waited for a seat. Parking may also be small, but you'll find your way either inside the lot or on the street. My all-time favorite pressed sandwich is the Ropa Vieja which is shredded beef sandwiched with plantains. Very filling and worth the price. If you want to go all out with the platillo, I love the Lechon platillo. The saltiness, savory lechon with the flavored rice, beans, and plantains. read more

Fantastic Cuban restaurant with authentic flavors, generous portions, and friendly service. The ropa vieja was tender and flavorful, and the atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend! read more

I had a late lunch with my daughter last weekend and we were so happy we came here. Great find in Calabasas! Pros - various menu options Breakfast, lunch, dinner Delicious coffee Lots of tea flavors Both hot and cold Lots of pastries to go with the coffee of your choice Great flavoring on the food Cute restaurant Intimate seating Con- Location Parking Order food at service counter Food, though tasty, was served room temp/cold Makes me think food is prepared at another location and brought to this location Nothing most unsavory that room temp pork- But- will try again! read more

Very good Cuban fare! They have a wide selection of sandwiches and a good selection of plates as well. Plates come with rice, beans, and plantains. I really enjoyed the steak palomilla, and the lechon was well liked also. The chicken was also good. We wish they had a chicken dish with mojo and onions though. Service was friendly. The ambience is very casual. It's a small cafe where you order at the counter. Will definitely be back! read more

Finally decided to come here for lunch. It's located in a small plaza with a small parking lot. The entrance and exit is just one way/lane, so just make sure you are going the correct way. The cafe is small and dark inside. You order from the cashier and grab a table afterwards. There are a couple of tables outside, but it's summer and I'm not about to melt outside. The cafe was nice and aired conditioned. I really appreciate that because this time of year, a lot of restaurants try to save on the power bills, and will either not turn on the a/c or set it at a higher temp. Ordered the lechon platillo for $16.49. The food came out in about 5 minutes. At first, I thought that the food amount was on the small side, but then as I started eating, I noticed they give about 5-6 slices of pork. Though thinly slice, I thought it was sufficient enough. Everything on the plate tasted great, though, I thought the pork was a little bit on the salty side. The plantains was really good and I would have liked more. it's soft and sweet with a little bit of burnt sugar on it. Just the way I like. Next time I come here, I will definitely order plantains on the side and try the cuban sandwich. Service was great and courteous. They also play Cuban music which definitely gives it a festive vibe. The cafe is on the smaller side, so larger groups might be an issue at peak times. read more

So with amazing food comes popularity, and with popularity comes more people, and with more people, we are happy for the restaurant... but not so happy for us. This gem, while still in a tiny location, is getting a lot more foot traffic, and THAT is going to be a problem. It won't keep us away because we LOVE the food, but now we're going to have to get smarter and strategize when the best time will be to show up. It's REALLY busy now !!!! read more

I love when a friend's random recommendation to try a new restaurant results in delightful dining experience. I got the Mojo shrimp plate that was seasoned to such perfection. I told myself I'm not going to finish it ha! Finished the whole thing. The plantains were not overly sweet, which made love it even more. FYI: This place is located in a really small plaza and not enough parking is available. read more

Cafecito is a hidden gem! The restaurant is small but very warm, lively, and inviting. People constantly were coming in and out of the space to dine in or do take out. Our food was absolutely delicious, flavorful, and authentic. I had the ropa vieja, which was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and the plantains were so comforting. The service was very friendly and fast which added to our wonderful experience. I can't wait to come back and enjoy more delicious meals, plus their breakfast menu looked great. read more

Update of BLACK GRIME ALL OVER FOOD I went in there and the girl who answered the food I presume stopped me from going in and said " no no you got it all wrong " or something along the line. She walked in there with me to the manager * the guy said he was thr manager* and theb i said what i previously posted " I got the wrong food, I got the cafechera and this has black grime all over it" she laughed and was dismissed" I got told to show my proof and mind you there was people behind me so I felt bad, the dude said again to show him and I said yes give me a second, I will admit I said it in a rushed way but I was very embarrassed by her laughing at me infront of him and other customers. O showed him and he said ok yeah I can remake that. No apoglies, no changed of attitude. So yes I was very taken back. I asked " so I was right? What is this attitude " he made me feel like i was yelling, so I took a breath and tried to calm myself down bc his attitude made me feel like I was being a tweaker or something. I tried to explain how I felt and he said " I already offered yo remake it and a give a refund. What do you want me to do? Get on my hands ?" And then said "ill refund you but you have to grt out" I said how rude him and his workers are but I just feel so embarrassed and hurt by the way I was treated. All I wanted was an apology fkr being laughed at. read more

I first tried cafecito in Chicago, loved it then and was happy this place open in LA a few years ago. Same owners, same consistency which is rare. We got the plate Ropa vieja and Shrimp Ceviche salad those and the cuban sandwich comforts in chicago so a must here. Also ordered the special which was steak and shrimp marinated with coffee. I fucking love coffee rubs! It was a sunny day so got iced mocha. Everything was seasoned perfectly, was just sad i couldn't eat more. Great portions, great price and you leave satisfied, not too full just right. read more

And I mean 5 stars.... For the record I'd like to say that I am of Colombian & Cuban decent. I also grew up between Miami and LA. That being said, aside from the fact that im a chef and have the lineage of great cooks in my family and a profound love for cuisine, I have to say that this place in its humble quaint island appearance is better than Poros and Versailles. Firstly their dedication to authenticity of flavors takes me to that moment in the movie Rattatoui where the critic in one bite is transported back to childhood in reffence to the bite of deliciousness he experienced in a moment that describes what every chef or restaurateur seeks to see on the face of ever one of his customers. Just the taste of the mortality which is a work of art in itself. I remember in Miami they always put the sugar in (your cafe) and it is in achieving that harmony between the client and the servitor that keeps the client coming back. So I definitely recomend thos place for anyone who wants to take a break and experience a little bit of cuba nestled 8n the alcove of calabasas. read more

We were in the area and needed a coffee fix. I immediately saw Cafecito and had to stop. The cafe is small with few indoor seating. Customer service was friendly. We ordered the Cubano Con Leche and the mocha latte and a banana bread to go. Everything lacked flavor and our drinks were watered down. Everything was so bad it got tossed. We went across the street to Coffee Bean and got our coffee fix there. read more

Really good Cuban cafe! Our understanding is it's run by a family that owns 3 of these in Chicago! Welcoming, cozy vibes and cafe seating at this location. My partner got the Cubano sandwich, their award winner, which he said was great; and I got Ropa Vieja, which also was excellent (with some added hot sauce). Michael was personable and provided above-and-beyond, fantastic service. As my partner put it, "choice restaurant" . We'll be back! read more

Whenever I walk in here I always feel welcomed. The service is nice, it feels clean, and it's a friendly atmosphere. The food is great, I typically order the Cubano (pressed sandwich). I describe it as a brunch sandwich and it always hits the spot. The platillos are delicious as well, a lot of options to choose from. Last but not least, the coffee. It's a must when you come here! When you get here I recommend street parking on Park Granada. Not a lot of parking in the plaza. read more

Lovin' this place! Came here for the first time for lunch and it was quite popular. Parking can be a little tough if the lot is full, however there is street parking. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Ended up getting: Cubano: roasted pork, ham, swiss, pickles, mustard- $9.49 ... If you haven't had a Cuban sandwich before or even been here before, I would definitely start with this as your first dish. Great flavors, crispy bread! We ended up adding a side of white rice and black beans $3.50 8oz. Choripan: argentine chorizo, grilled onions, grilled peppers, chimichurri sauce $9.79 ... Same crispy thin breading with sausage chorizo. I really liked the simplicity, yet wonderful flavors of the sandwich. However, I think I was expecting the chorizo in a different form (not sure what, but different). Overall, wonderful service and great food. We will be back! read more

What a great find! This little gem is hidden in the heart of Calabasas and offers great food and a good vibe. The venue is tiny but what it lacks for in space it makes up for in flavor. Cafecito has become my new and favorite go-to spot. First I came for the delicious coffee, then I began coming for the yummy food, but now I find myself coming daily for the welcoming and cozy hospitality! I crave their cortaditos, often finding any excuse to "treat myself" and ditch my nespresso. It's the perfect balance of strong coffee with a sweet and subtle finish. Their sandwiches are to die for! I have never had bread so light, crispy, and flavorful! But above all, it's the lovely greeting and kind smiles that make Cafecito such a wonderful establishment. Ditch your Starbucks, ditch the fast food chains, and enjoy food and drinks made with love and care! read more

Cafecito is a hidden gem in Calabasas. Tucked into a quiet shopping center, it has a cozy charm that keeps me coming back. I'm absolutely hooked on their Cafecito Con Leche. Smooth, rich, and very reasonably priced. Don't even get me started on their Cuban sandwiches! They are better than Porto's hands down. Don't leave without grabbing their house made Guayapica hot sauce (Guava Habanero) it pairs perfectly with the sandwich. On a recent visit, I ordered a large batch of Cafecitos Con Leche for my colleagues. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the drinks weren't labeled, and the staff couldn't tell which were oat milk or had extra espresso shots. I could see they were busy, so I didn't ask for a remake, but it was a bit of a letdown especially since some coworkers are lactose intolerant. Still, Cafecito remains one of my go-to spots. Just hoping for a little more care with big orders next time. read more
