Delicious Mexican restaurant in Calabasas. The Birria dish amazing and hearty enough to split between two people or have enough for leftovers. I recommend the flour tortillas with them. Finally got around to see how the new management at Hacienda Tapatio is doing. To start their drinks are stiff. Tried the happy hour margarita and Cadillac margarita. No cutting corners here. The food is good and plentiful. Fajitas Tapatio came with steak, chicken and shrimp. I think the steak and chicken can use more seasoning/marinade. Burrito Tapatio with carnitas was tender and juicy. Tasted almost like lengua. Finally we tried the pozole, which was a little too light for me. Can use more seasoning. Service was very friendly and prompt. Updated decor and furniture also freshened up the restaurant. Overall a 3.5 star experience. read more

I am currently sitting at my table at the restaurant, just finished eating, and couldn't wait to write this review. Everything was perfect. The customer service, the chips and salsa, the atmosphere, the super crisp Diet Coke, and my amazing dinner. We got the birria plate and the carne asada burrito. They were both so delicious and very large portions. We ended up taking half of our dishes home (probably because we ate 2 baskets of their fresh chips and salsa). We will definitely be coming back. Been coming for a couple weeks now and this place is great! Taco Tuesday just blew my mind, $2 tacos!! Tried birria, carnitas and asada and they were very good. Usually I would go for asada burrito w/ green sauce, although went for enchiladas alongside tacos. Can also get different meat in enchiladas, just went for beef and chicken although next time I'll try birria / carnitas enchiladas! We're new to the neighborhood and happened to drive by and decide to try this place and we're so happy we did! The service was amazing from start to finish. Owner personally came over to welcome us and walk us through the menu since they've just opened, which was such a nice touch. Everyone was incredibly sweet and accommodating. Ethan was our server and he was fantasticsuper sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable. He recommended the Pepino Picante, and WOW... SO good. Ethan absolutely nailed that drink. Had dinner there this evening with friends and we were all very pleased with our meals and service. I had the pastore Burrito Tapatio with green sauce and it was delicious. Others enjoyed their seafood tacos. The grilled fresh vegetables were terrific. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance is nicer than their predecessor, La Paz. I was so excited to try this place since it just opened near my house but it was so not impressive at all. The hard taco shell was more store bought than Taco Bell's and had zero flavor. The enchiladas were ok but nothing special and my horchata had ice filled to the top that I literally had 3 sips and was out. Wasn't horrible but wasn't really that good either. Wouldn't order again. What a disappointing soft/grand opening. The renovation inside was nice but the food was terrible. My hubby and I ordered guacamole to go, mini flautas, and a chicken burrito. They didn't have 10 oz containers for the guacamole so it came in 2 small containers. It's tasted good but I'm not sure if I got the right size for the price I paid. The small amount of chips they provided were stale to boot. Then the chicken burrito was gross - old and burnt chicken cut in small pieces, did they use left over food from lunch to get rid of it? I also wish the burrito came with a side of rice and beans but it didn't because it was inside the burrito. The mini flautas came with a side of sour cream, green sauce, pico and lettuce. We won't be ordering flautas because there was cinnamon or some kind of sweet spice we did not care for. What a terrible opening to showcase their food. I want them to be good. It won't ever be like LA Paz but I was hoping they would bring their best. I'll give them another try by dining in and update my review. read more

Model the cuisine & presentation of Gilbert's El Indio, and it will improve. I've eaten at 300+ Mexican restaurants in my life, as a California native from LA (who has also lived in SD and spent a lot of time in El Paso, Santa Fe, and Tijuana), Hacienda Tapatio is just average... but it can be so much more. And the location is great. I'll come back in six months and see if there's improvement. But trust me... go eat a few meals at Gilbert's then do what they do.. read more

I tried all El Tapatio restaurants and I was excited to try an actual restaurant. I came in a Friday night for dinner and what an amazing time I had. Mariachi arrived at 7, bonus. The restaurant is beautiful decor. Reminds me of the restaurants in Placita Olivera or actual Mexico. We started with chicken taquitos appetizer, bomb. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned, I didn't need to add lime or salt like other places. I had 3 raspberry martinis , no added syrups, they nailed it. I had tilapia dish with rice , with corn tortilla. My bf had cheese enchiladas, rice and beans, they came out amazing. The mariachi walks around and takes request. I just recently had my bridal shower here and OMG let me tell you how perfect it was, from the costumer service to their food! The new owner Oscar and Renato made sure my bridal shower was perfect! They kept coming around making sure myself and my guest were good and making sure we have evryhting. Their authentic Mexican food is delicious!!! NOW THIS IS REAL MEXICAN FOOD!!!! Went to Hacienda Tapatio for lunch today and so happy to have another local restaurant to recommend! The interior is light and bright with a subtle equestrian theme that fits right in with the local vibe. The staff were very attentive and friendly. However, the female bartender made the worst, awful Margaritas that I have ever tasted in my life. As a matter of fact, the drinks were sent back twice, and still, the Margarita was not drinkable. We enjoyed it. We went on a Monday and the service was excellent and staff was attentive and super friendly. The $10 guac was a hit and would go back just for that and a margarita. Two of us split the chicken fajitas and was surprised when it appeared to have more chicken then vegetables.
