Ranchera steak

Finally got around to see how the new management at Hacienda Tapatio is doing. To start their drinks are stiff. Tried the happy hour margarita and Cadillac margarita. No cutting corners here. The food is good and plentiful. Fajitas Tapatio came with steak, chicken and shrimp. I think the steak and chicken can use more seasoning/marinade. Burrito Tapatio with carnitas was tender and juicy. Tasted almost like lengua. Finally we tried the pozole, which was a little too light for me. Can use more seasoning. Service was very friendly and prompt. Updated decor and furniture also freshened up the restaurant. Overall a 3.5 star experience.

Dropped by to check it out. Hostess greeted us as we walked in. Super friendly. Great service from Roman at the bar! We were just having a drink but he graciously showed us all the menus and answered all our questions. The place looks great! Nice and clean. Good pour on the drinks! We'll definitely be back for Roman's service alone!

Birria plate

I am currently sitting at my table at the restaurant, just finished eating, and couldn't wait to write this review. Everything was perfect. The customer service, the chips and salsa, the atmosphere, the super crisp Diet Coke, and my amazing dinner. We got the birria plate and the carne asada burrito. They were both so delicious and very large portions. We ended up taking half of our dishes home (probably because we ate 2 baskets of their fresh chips and salsa). We will definitely be coming back. Truly so so good.

HORSES HORSES HORSES

Been coming for a couple weeks now and this place is great! Taco Tuesday just blew my mind, $2 tacos!! Tried birria, carnitas and asada and they were very good. Usually I would go for asada burrito w/ green sauce, although went for enchiladas alongside tacos. Can also get different meat in enchiladas, just went for beef and chicken although next time I'll try birria / carnitas enchiladas! They even have wooden horses inside, horses painted on the walls, and sombreros. You're in the right place, and the people make you feel welcome. Great service :)

Pepino picante

We're new to the neighborhood and happened to drive by and decide to try this place and we're so happy we did! The service was amazing from start to finish. Owner personally came over to welcome us and walk us through the menu since they've just opened, which was such a nice touch. Everyone was incredibly sweet and accommodating. Ethan was our server and he was fantasticsuper sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable. He recommended the Pepino Picante, and WOW... SO good. Ethan absolutely nailed that drink. Food-wise, everything was great. The Burrito Tapatío was a total hit. We'll definitely be back and can't wait to see this place busy, highly recommend!

This was my third time here and I had the 'El Dorado' - Sea Bass, which was fantastic. I live about 30 minutes away (...depending on 101 traffic....) and the food is easily worth the trip. Cafecito offers a very original take on a Cuban-Chicago style restaurant with a dash of California style. My wife had the Milenasa pressed sandwich which was made to perfection. Be aware of the cooler with the assorted pieces of dessert... it gets me everytime... I tried the Tres Leches and ended up eating the whole thing.. During our visit, there was a customer that came in with a 'to-go' order that she had placed and wasn't happy with it. She stormed in and interrupted two guests that were in the middle of placing an order at the counter. The manager stayed professional and kindly asked her to lower her voice and that he would address her once the couple finished placing their order. Once the couple left, the angry customer (gen z/young adult) started berating him about the meal and lack of customer service. The manager stayed calm and collective offered her a full refund as well as a re-cooked meal that she ordered earlier. However, this wasn't enough for her, she wanted blood. The manager kept composure, realized he was in a lose-lose situation, and calmly told her she needed to leave, which she complied. The manager was being rage baited and he handled it like a pro! This is a small 'mom and pop' shop pushing to make it in the tough climate of Calabasas. They are unique and treasure quality. This place is a true gem and I look forward to their growing ambitions!

I recommend a basket of Shrimp and some crab. I wouldn't recommend the lobster too much because it was very chewy. The Dungeness Crab was so yummy and flavorful. The crab made the bill pretty hefty but it was worth it. Overall great place and would come here again! Like I said, it usually is packed so be ready to wait for a table. Parking can get a little tough if you want to park close to the restaurant. You will definitely find parking in the lot even if it is farther away in the lot.

4 stars for the food, 3 overall due to a really annoying ordering system. Due to a disability, I cannot go to pick up food, so while ordering for delivery isn't ideal it's my only option. My annoyance is that everything is a la carte; there's no way to order a complete seafood boil. On the bright side, it means that you're not paying for anything you don't want/can't eat. I ordered snow crab (steep at $33 for a "cluster" ie half body), corn, potatoes, sausage, and eggs. I ordered all in the same garlic butter sauce and had mild spice. In hindsight, I probably would have ordered a different seasoning. Everything came in separate bags. I also ordered a sheller as I didn't have one on hand - cheap at $2, but a janky piece of plastic without any clamping mechanism. The crab was great and decently meaty. I also loved the sausage, of which they gave me a TON despite me only ordering one link. I think they must have made a mistake with how much they gave me in my order. The potatoes were delicious and cooked well, as was the corn. Prices are (largely) reasonable especially for the area, but everything added up quickly and my total order was $54. Pretty steep for a dinner for one. I don't think I would order again for delivery, but I would consider going in person where I can specify that I want everything in the same boil.

We decided to come back with friends but on a Wednesday night at 6:30 instead. Sat at a table in the area where the music was but it was very loud and tightly packed with tables and guests. I could barely hear my friends due to the loud conversations, loud laughter, and just the acoustic affects in the restaurant were bad from that. We ordered steak, sides, and thought baked potatoes but got mashed instead. After we ate dinner we asked the manager if we could seat outside for dessert instead due to the loud noises around us. He brought us there but we had to wait at the bar outside till we were seated took an additional 15-20 minutes. After seated it was better than inside with a nice decor too instead. Dessert was ok service good. For such a high-ended restaurant and pricy food it's only avarage, inside decor pretty but very and tightly packed with guests and loud especially for a week day night kind of unusual, I was disappointed think it's a bit overrated sorry to say. I think Flemings, Ruth Chris, or Morton's are better food wise for the same price and dining experience and not as loud too. Think what could make it better is to thin out the crowded packed affect in the main inside dining area would help a lot too, or, if we ever go back sit outside instead I recommend. The service and staff there were very nice, friendly, and attentive and worked hard during service though. So overall raiting is a 3. Tuesday music night inside was good though think because the band is set up where tables of guests would be so less talking and guests listening to the music instead. Hope they make some changes to there inside seating there for improvements will and could help overall.

PARKING valet is available, but we found street parking on ventura blvd. FOOD 01. squash blossoms ($21 for 5 pc): 8.3/10 these were crispy and light, delightful to eat on their own without the tomato marinara sauce served on the side. casalena's squash blossoms had a strong, lovely hint of lemon that wasn't present in mother wolf's rendition. 02. chicken piccata ($29): 7.5/10 this main was served with a generous helping of potatoes mashed into a delicious velvet. 03. vodka lumaconi ($25): 9/10 this dish was the standout of the evening! the pasta shells were cooked al dente and coated in a slightly spicy, perfectly savory vodka sauce! casalena does not skimp on the sauce in any of their dishes! 04. tagliatelle ($29): 7/10 this pasta dish was not nearly as impressive. 05. tiramisu ($15): 7/10 since we mentioned the dinner was for a special occasion in our reservation, this dessert was served with a candle. while its presentation was lovely, its taste was underwhelming. the espresso was extremely subtle, and there was more madeline than mascarpone/cream. overall, our party of 4 was fully satiated after splitting 1 appetizer, 3 mains, and 1 dessert. service was lovely throughout! and as another yelpie mentioned in their review, their matchbook is very nice.
