We discovered this great food at the Morningside farmers market! To which we try and attend each month. And regardless of how late we ve eaten breakfast that morning my husband makes room some how to eat their amazing wraps ! I usually steal one of his meatballs ;) they are so delicious! They had two dishes on - jerk chicken and a beef tagine. I got one of each to take home and then shared them for an early dinner. For £5 each they were really good sized portions and I actually couldn't finish all of mine. The jerk chicken came with bean rice and pineapple salsa and had two super tasty chicken drumsticks in it. I loved the flavour of all it - the chicken was luscious, the rice was really well seasoned and the pineapple salsa was such a lovely accompaniment. The beef tagine had generous chunks of slow cooked beef and was served with a lovely cous cous, harissa yoghurt & flaked almonds. YUM. I can't wait to try more of their delicious eats when they pop up again in Glasgow.

There is one small table and a couple of chairs, and a small wall nearby you could sit at - otherwise there isn't much seating nearby. I had the vegetarian haggis burrito with rice, black beans, salsa, and their homemade (suitable for vegans) guacamole. The city is really busy right now even just at the very start of the Fringe and it was a nice location just that bit away from the masses; it was convenient for me at that point in the evening for a quick dinner between shows at Chambers Street and the Cowgate. For the meat eaters they also have haggis, chicken, and Irn Bru pulled pork, and they have a selection of sauces you can add to create even more flavour additions. I gave 5 because although not exactly a full, relaxing dining experience, judged for what it is - a quick snack on the go - the food was good, the service was great, and the price was reasonable.

I've been twice and its and event that looks to be gaining momentum. There are no shortage of markets in Edinburgh. Stockbridge, Waverley, Farmers markets. Many of them have good food served from their stalls, some of which can be found here. However there's quite a unique atmosphere about the event. Off the beaten track a bit in essentially an industrial estate, it's not your typical venue. I think that works in its favour. There are large fire pits that burn throughout the day but looks particularly impressive at night. There are around 10-15 different food trucks and stalls which look to be changing each month. Hot food, beer and alcoholic drinks, coffee and baked goods were available. There was buzz there; it feels more like being at the Fringe festival than normal market where people grab some food and hang out with friends. There were some long queues though and I although I was that in middle afternoon it seemed food was in short supply and would run out by the evening. Hopefully this situation improves as the event progresses. I'd say grab some friends, grab a beer, bring an empty stomach, come early and hope it's sunny. I will definitely be back when it is next on.

I chose the Firedog and for sure this did look amazing, but the amount of hot sauce that was put on was way overkill and the only flavour that l got was hot sauce my mouth was on fire all the way up the street. The hot dog was on a large half French baguette and when you calculate the size of sausage you would have to have a massive gob to take a bite. Next time l need to really check out all the vendors before choosing what to go for, l just saw the picture of the firedog van on Twitter and as l don't normally do hotdogs maybe that's why l went for it straight away. I would love to buy one of these vans though, but not sure what l would do with it.

The times I've visited they've had about 6 different food trucks or stands, plus a market stand selling fruit and veg. There are usually places to get coffee and cake, ice cream or crepes in among the more substantial food options. What have I tried? Firebird pizzas: Sure, nothing new. I've had these pizzas in Firebird itself and their food truck is a common sight at events. Thing is, the pizzas are really good and they can be ready in 3 minutes. I chose the truffled mushroom and brie pizza and everything about it was perfect. Fresh Revolution: They do this seafood gumbo that's just amazing. I got so many mussels I thought I must have cheated somehow. Too good. Everyone else was into the Irish pakora and I'm sure it's great but the gumbo is important. The Buffalo Truck: These guys do buttermilk fried chicken rolls, chicken wings and fries. I got the buffalo chicken roll with parmesan fries and it was all really good, especially for the price but I wait about 35 minutes for it. They hadn't really found their rhythm when I arrived though, and I suspect they'll get quicker. However, if you see a queue, know that it takes a while to clear. Rost: Sliders and salads with pizazz. I tried the chicken slider which was nice, but smaller and pricier than the chicken rolls available from Buffalo. Also the guys running it were kind of rude. Maybe they were cold. So I still need to try Might Mexican, Firedog Hotdogs, Babu Kitchen, Chompsky, Cav&Co, Flat Out, Linton and Co, Equis, and on and on and on. Neither my waistline nor my bank balance will thank me but I doubt if I'll regret it.

They were pretty tasty and I like the actual base as it was really thin, could be a little more crispier to hold the tomatoes but that's personal preference. I usually don't opt for hot coffee, but as it was a cold and rainy day, I opted for what I believe was a brown sugar honey latte. For munching, I had the strawberry croissant. The coffee itself was very small in size, but it had great flavor. It was subtle, with the perfect amount of sweetness. The croissant was flaky and the layers of the dough filled crust were incredibly delicious. is it the best coffee I've ever had? Certainly not, but the service and the charm of the cafe make it all well worth It. It truly is a must try spot when visiting Edinburgh.
