This isn't trying to be classic New York and it isn't trying to be Neapolitan either. It lands somewhere in between with its own personality, and it works. The crust had great structure with just enough chew, the toppings were balanced instead of overloaded, and every slice held together exactly the way it should. You can tell they're using quality ingredients without feeling the need to advertise every supplier on the menu. As someone who has spent plenty of time eating pizza everywhere from Long Island to California, I appreciated that Civerinos wasn't chasing authenticity for authenticity's sake. It just focused on making a really good pie. The atmosphere fit the food too. Casual, energetic, and the kind of place that feels equally right for a quick slice or hanging out with friends over a full pie and a beer. Edinburgh has an outstanding food scene, and Civerinos deserves to be part of that conversation. If I lived here, I'd be back often.

He freshly fries big, juicy king prawns in a tempura batter whist simultaneously frying up crispy sweet potato fries on the side. Smother those prawns in sauce, bacon bits and other accoutrements, and whack them in a soft brioche bun and you've got yourself a very good sandwich indeed. I hope that Shrimpwreck branches out and starts appearing at other markets (or even a venue of their own) as frankly once a week is just cruel. These babies are tasty.

The next time we went I got the yummy pheasant wrap which was also really tasty. These guys make other types of food too but they weren't selling it at the Christmas market. Hoping they are going to be around town more after the christmas fair stops.

I tried out their pea and potato salad - the mint was too strong for my tastes, with the salad overwhelmed by it - perhaps younger mint would have worked nicer. Their sushi uses white rice that I could see, so that was offlimits, and their enticing gluten free crepes also were banned as had no options that worked for my restrictive diet. Still, if I see Ziggy's again, I'll be certainly sticking my head in to see what they offer. Their raw pizza looked fantabulous....

Their "one feeds two" commitment means that for every purchase you make, they feed a hungry person in need, working with feeding partners around the world. Much like Social Bite, their story is inspirational. Their soup, as well as their morning porridge, is excellent, with a constantly changing menu of options. Go soon and go often! Overall, we said: "Elephant Juice made me very happy. Their soup was spectacularly good and the service extremely welcoming, with the wonderful "Dumbo" providing a quirky serving station. I can't recommend the place highly enough to you. In the coming weeks and months, I think the intention is to take the van on the road, and offer their excellent fare in a range of venues across Edinburgh.
