Delicious and interesting little food hall. The flat white coffee was delicious. The Korean fried chicken sandwich and fries with the green sauce were also very good. The fries were very oily at the bottom however. Had the biscoff donut as well which was just a little underwhelming, almost tasted a day old. Overall I would certainly go back. read more

The Pitt Food Market is set to be an monthly event on the last Saturday of each month to hang out and enjoy what's on offer from street food vendors. I've been twice and its and event that looks to be gaining momentum. There are no shortage of markets in Edinburgh. Stockbridge, Waverley, Farmers markets. Many of them have good food served from their stalls, some of which can be found here. However there's quite a unique atmosphere about the event. Off the beaten track a bit in essentially an industrial estate, it's not your typical venue. I think that works in its favour. There are large fire pits that burn throughout the day but looks particularly impressive at night. There are around 10-15 different food trucks and stalls which look to be changing each month. Hot food, beer and alcoholic drinks, coffee and baked goods were available. There was buzz there; it feels more like being at the Fringe festival than normal market where people grab some food and hang out with friends. There were some long queues though and I although I was that in middle afternoon it seemed food was in short supply and would run out by the evening. Hopefully this situation improves as the event progresses. I'd say grab some friends, grab a beer, bring an empty stomach, come early and hope it's sunny. A friend who'd visited Edinburgh recommended that I visit The Pitt and it looked really great, so I went with my friends while I was visiting Edinburgh too. When we ended up in an alley in Leith I was a little apprehensive but as soon as we entered it was like food heaven. I got the steak and frites, which was absolutely delicious. The steak was grilled to perfection and the fries were nice and crispy. We also tried the parmesan fries and those were great too! They have a lot of options for lunch as well as a full bar and rolled ice cream! It's a fun little place to try a few different foods and enjoy nice weather on the weekend. Keep in mind it's only open on Saturday afternoons, but it's worth the wait and the drive to Leith. read more

This is the first day of what is hoped to become a monthly festival of Street Food. There's a selection of food vendors from around the Edinburgh area including Barnacles & Bones and Fresh Revolution as well as the beers from Barney's. Most of the food offerings are around £6 so it's a nice way to try some of the best street food offerings of the city as well as experiencing some rather cool background music. What a place!! If you're into eating and drinking good and different fares then this is the place to be. Currently on every Saturday from 12pm till late in a wee back alley in Leith, it's well worth a trip. The food trucks on offer changes week on week I believe and this week was a fab selection. Hot dogs, seafood, burgers, crepes - sounds like your normal street food but everything seemed to have a unique selling point. I had a halloumi bao bun which was incredible. Served with hoisin sauce and fresh cucumber and spring onion, it was unlike anything I've had before! They had a great selection of local drinks too. The portobello gin stall was a firm favourite of our and the guys were so knowledgeable and engaging we just couldn't help but keep going back! Highly recommend a visit if you're anywhere near the East Coast. It may be a bit out of Edinburgh City but a quick 10 minute bus journey got us there hassle free. read more

Love this place!!!!! What a great way to spend a Friday night, surrounded by great good and drink with live music and fantastic friends. The gin fizz from smith and gurtrude was out of this world- if you are a fan of gin and strawberry it's a must have. Also glad that I ended up sharing my falafel wrap as half was more than enough. I love what The Pitt is all about. A nice wee space full of folks sampling food and beer stalls. However, 'wee' and 'full' are the operative words here! I found it to be a bit overwhelming due to the fact that it was rammed to the rafters and there was nowhere to get any space. I also thought the live music was too loud. It's a nice idea to have a music corner but does it really need to be amplified? It means everyone has to shout to be heard. I reckon a few hay bales and some acoustic instruments would make for a better vibe. I took my food out to the street to escape the intensity. I thought the place is a great idea and has a really nice community feel to it. But perhaps it's a little too popular and could use a slightly bigger space. And a few more veggie options wouldn't go amiss too. read more

This is a great idea. A street food festival tucked away off of Pitt St in Leith. As a vegetarian, there were 3 food vans offering something for us non-carnivores but felt like a lack of choice for any veggies or vegans hence the 3 stars. There was a good atmosphere, good music, a few firepits on the go and beer by Summerhall and a small bar selling wine, gin and tasty Scottish potato vodka. Good for groups, couples and families. Some more veggie options (chargrilled veg, veg haggis, veg chilli), marshmallows and I'd be going back regularly. read more

What a great space! The Pitt is an excellent outdoor venue boasting a wealth of upmarket, local, street food, stone baked pizza, crab fritters, dumplings, hot fruit crumble, noodles, pakora, Mexican, Spanish, gourmet burgers and more! You are really spoiled for choice and I felt most things were very reasonably priced - I opted for a pizza - de-lish and not a long waiting time at all (£6). Wash down your chosen snack or meal with, again local, beers and spirits or a glass of prosecco! Its a great atmosphere, acoustic music in the background and a great place to meet up with friends. It's probably a victim of its on success - my only criticism being that it is really busy and gets quite cramped - esp. during the daytime - family & dog friendly, and it seems there's more pushchairs taking up space than people!! - and nothing really for children to do there whilst the adults are chatting. At night it's a little easier to move around the crowd and they haven a few fire pits set up in case it gets a little chilly. I hope this monthly event continues and perhaps it can expand a little - perhaps a space for kids to play and a little more room required for milling around the stalls. When in a certain part of Leith, on a certain Saturday, your nose will be sure to tell you that something wonderful is happening just around the corner. Foodies rejoice, for the Pitt is a regular celebration of local yum, showcasing the best of street food in the city. It's just £1 entry and the Pitt is a-buzz with all kinds of local wonders; local food, locally sourced live music, coffee and beer. I had a Chompsky steamed bun and a portion of sweet potato fries from another stall and it was just the perfect al fresco mini summer feast. The Pitt excites this local-loving-foodie and it's sure to do the same to many more. I'm really excited to see how the Pitt takes shape and the rotation of businesses over time. Across summer, The Pitt is a weekly occasion; one which I'll be oh-so-happy to indulge in on these bright, light evenings. read more

Lovely, lovely, lovely. I can't believe it's taken me til now to discover The Pitt, especially as my camper gets served footsteps away from the place. It's small, can be crowded, full of food and drink (beer (Summerhall IPA, yum), wine and cocktails) and beats pouring from the DJ in the corner. On a summer (OK, I should expand that to a night that is not raining) night, it's fab way to spend an evening. We tucked into seafood and beef from Barnacles and Bones, but the shrimp stall, cake sundae stall, pizza... all looked superb. Bring your friends, a £1 for entry and go early; by the time we reached there (8pm) a lot of food and some of the drink was sold out, which goes to show how good and darn popular this place is. It's no bad thing - hence 4* - but with the Pitt we have reached peak hipster. Street food, artisan coffee, craft beer, hip music all in a small industrial yard in an industrial district of hip Leith. What's not to like? £1 for adults and then you have access to a load of street food vendors inc some familiar faces like Barnacle and Bones, Bearded Barista, Barney's beer. Add sunshine and you have a buzzy, busy happening worth checking out. Over summer 2016 the Pitt will be a weekly thing so plenty of opportunity to enjoy. read more
