Quaint hidden gem. Came in a few weeks ago to try it. Was told it would be wise to set a reservation for the evening as they get slammed. Set reservation for 7pm. Was jammed when we arrived. So my husband and I each had a drink while we waited. We were escorted by a staff member into the upstairs dining area. Views of the back of the bay in a shabby chic setting. We ordered the escargot, and we each had our meals and desert. The staff was very friendly, attentive and the other guests were friendly. The waitress was super nice and she convinced us to have desert- something we do not often do. The fireplace was on, which made it even more cozy. Food came out hot and was served in appropriate time. Definitely going back!!!! read more

This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in wareham. It's quaint and over looks the water, small menu, but..but the choices are amazing and there's something there for everyone. The quantity is good but the quality is excellent. Everything is freshly made per order...it may take a little while but it's worth it. The owner Leanne treats you as if you are her only customer, she makes an effort to know your name and share pleasantries with you. Her sister J is one of a kind. She knows our order by heart, she is friendly and an excellent server. I highly recommend this place for a first date, an old married couple, or a few friends getting together. Great Views, Friendly staff and good,fairly priced dishes. Mix of Italian and Seafood, lots to offer. My wife had 2 cosmos and she was good to go. $7 each, cheap date. Our friend brought us to this intimate, adorable cafe in Wareham. Inside, you are met with a lovely sight: beautiful brick walls with white etched on them and ever so pretty, candlelit tables having warmer plates with inspirational sayings charmingly placed on them at each place setting. I had the chicken marsala. It was quite good. I was a big fan of the chicken, sauce and the mushrooms used. The veggies on the side were nice and light and tasty. For dessert, I had one of the muffin sized cakes. I forget what the flavor was but it was good! My sister had the key lime pie one and enjoyed it. I really appreciated the small dessert, as it was just the right size and also inexpensive. In fact, the entire meal was inexpensive. First of all, don't all rush for the window booths overlooking the lovely Swan Pond...(not the real name) I think it's actually the upper part of the Wareham River, but lovely all the same.) the food is great, always fresh, although she called it's Yesterdays Chodaw, it's really quite good and made fresh for sure. We stopped in to take a break from the killer Cape traffic. Great view, great food, great atmosphere. My baked haddock was to die for. My dad's classic fish and chips were among THE best I have ever tasted. If fries are your thing they are fresh and right out of the frier (served in the fry cage) . Also my brothers ordered the Mac and cheese casserole (note: no childrens' menu, but kid friendly options such as mac and cheese and a "second mate's" portion of fish and chips) but they wanted bacon on it. The waitress said they did not have bacon because they had used it all in the stuffing for the weekly special. When the meals came out both the Mac and cheeses had bacon on them and both my brothers were overjoyed! The prices here are amazing only the special was over $12 and every meal was quality and large (and worth a lot more!). Water views are spectacular, definitely a good excursion. read more

I went here last fall with family and thought it was very good. Went again this past weekend and still is a decent place. They now have a waiting room upstairs that is about as big as the restaurant. I should have checked it out to see how many people were there. They said 20 min wait, I thought that meant 1 or 2 groups at most upstairs but there were more and the wait was just over 30 min, but the food is worth it. But while standing there I saw that after a group would leave the table was bussed and cleaned but sat empty for too long. I also HATE that they set the table with the cutsey plates and then clear them away? What an absolute WASTE of time, maybe if it is slow but when people already waited upstairs had a drink and pretty much know what they want to order why set the plates then clear them? I had the chicken parm, it was the best I've had in this area. 1000x better than Mamma Mia's. My boyfriend had the salisbury steak special which was also delicious-- like meatloaf on crack. I have eaten here a few times since June. I have been amazed by their dishes. Two that stand out are the baked haddock and the clam chowder. The baked haddock was lightly breaded and lightly seasoned. However, the flavor was the best haddock that I have ever had. The clam chowder is the less thick kind. But once again, it had a phenomenal flavor. I have had a chance to dine in dozens of area restaurants recently that served clam chowder (in Boston, Plymouth, Wareham, Buzzards Bay, on Cape Cod, Providence RI) and Cafe Soleil's ranks in my top 2. Lastly, I would consider the prices to be on the lower end, especially for the high quality. The prices for entrees are between $10-15. I recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is small. And as of the last time that I went, they did not take reservations. So either go early or be prepared to wait. read more

What a great hidden treasure in Wareham! We went there last night after hearing a raving review from another Wareham resident that I know. Word must be getting out because it was packed. However , our wait was only 20 mins max. The wait staff was wonderful, they worked as a team and also made sure each table was happy. For drinks we both got the pink bubbly mascato. The bottles were the size of a glass and came in a tiny silver pale full of ice. Such an awesome idea! We started off our meal with the deep fried Mac and cheese balls. Finally a restaurant that can make them right because they are still gooey on the inside. We both ordered the baked stuff haddock, which was amazing as well. It came with a side of rice and vegetable medley. We took our time eating and never felt rush by the staff which was very nice. After letting our meal settle we decided to try the chocolate fudge cupcake. We got one after seeing how thick and dense it was. Like everything else we ate the cupcake was fantastic! At the end of the night we got the bill with all we ate and drank it was very reasonably priced as well! We will definitely be going back! read more

Great meal tonight. Not a bad wait on a busy Saturday night. Every meal in our group was wonderful. I had the chicken picata and as other reviewers have mentioned it was really good. My husband and sister in law had the veal marsala... both happy with their choice. My boys had chicken parm and chowder. Terrific restaurant. Service attentive and friendly but not intrusive, food in good portions and very tasty, prices more than reasonable. No reservations taken, but if you get there early (or late) no problem. My sirloin tips were just perfect medium rare, the veggies crisp and tasty. Only suggestion: the fried mac-n-cheese done perfectly but a bit bland; would add some sharp cheddar. Not too much, just a pinch. I visited Cafe Soleil for a second time last night with two friends. My first was shortly after the restaurant opened about nine months ago. I wished I hadn't waited so long to return!! This place truly is a gem in downtown Wareham - 'understated elegance' is a perfect description! The ambience is very peaceful and the food is fabulous. Prices are excellent and they have recently started to serve a limited menu of mixed drinks. I wish the space was a bit larger in order for them to accomodate more people, but the proprietors do a wonderful job of making everyone feel special within those walls! This is a true find for anyone looking for a special place to dine, nestled right on Main Street! read more

Excellent food. The wait is a tad bit long and no real comfortable place to wait. But definitely worth it. You can stop by after 3pm on open days and get on the list. The menu is extremely extensive (probably a bit too extensive for a restaurant this size IMHO). Have been a few times and everything we've tried has been great. The desserts are especially notable. Just a lovely few bites of something delicious. I wonder if the owner of the property could put a few outdoor benches on the walk way to the restaurant so there is a place to sit for us "older" folk. Also, I wonder if the restaurant could invest in a pager system so that people could sit out by the water or walk along main street a bit waiting for their tables. I've been to small restaurants where it's done with your own cell phone. It would make the wait seem a little easier. Definitely would recommend, but also leery about causing a longer wait :-). read more
