I really, really liked this cafe, famous for posting intellectuals like Franz Kafka and Albert…read moreEinstein. After you climb the stairs, you pass through the lobby and find your own seat. There are several rooms. Our server was just lovely so nice. We ordered breakfast, and everything was quite good. The coffee was so good, and I love the little pieces of soft cheese that came with breakfast. The apple cake was also delicious. This is a great spot, and I wish we had a hard time to go back for lunch or dinner. If you are coming to prague, this might be a place you want to put on your list. If nothing else you can say you ate where the intellectuals ate, and you can feel a little smarter.

I was really looking forward to trying some traditional Czech dishes here after seeing this café…read morerecommended in so many blogs, so I decided to stop in for dinner. The interior is beautiful and has a lot of historic charm, which really adds to the experience. Service was also excellent--everyone was professional, attentive, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a letdown. I ordered the slow-braised beef shank, but the meat was surprisingly tough and didn't have that fall-apart tenderness I was hoping for. We also tried the braised beef with the creamy sauce, and unfortunately, the beef had the same issue. I really wanted to love the food given the beautiful setting and all the recommendations, but unfortunately, it just didn't quite live up to the expectations.

I'm surprised no one was there considering it was 11am on a Tuesday. We all ordered different things and shared. We got a combination of the eggs Benedict carbonara, the mushroom, avocado toast, the Blueberry pancakes, the chai granola, and butchers open sandwich. The blueberry pancakes were especially filling as it came drenched in a fresh blueberry sauce-I wish we had known that as we probably would've asked for the sauce on the side as it was soaking into every square inch of the pancakes. Even though some of the girls in our group did not care for poached eggs, they offered to do them hard boiled instead of scrambled which we had asked for-which I thought was a little bit odd. But overall, I thought it was a wonderful authentic breakfast experience. Overall, the proportions were both large and recently priced as most things were under $15. The drinks were also really delicious and it's nice that you were able to order a double mimosa for about $14. They had free water as well, and we sat at this really cute open, seated table in this very Instagramable garden. It was a relatively small shop and I'm surprised it wasn't busier, but we also came on a Tuesday morning. Overall, everything was really fresh and it was nice to be able to grab a quick bite.

We decided to take a table outside as it was a reasonably warm morning. We had just tap water and I ordered the scrambled eggs with a hot dog bun and salad. The lovely K had the Turkish eggs and toast with lovely fresh dill on top. Both were excellent and a fair sized portion. The poached eggs and the scrambled eggs were spot on. My salad was also excellent with a dressing I'd like to replicate at home. The service was prompt, and friendly, and the food came out quick in spite of how busy they were. I can't say much about the ambiance as we were outside, but the chairs were comfortable and blankets were also available if you felt the need to bundle up. We would most certainly return!

My mom and I ordered bottled sparkling water and were surprised when it was served warm (not just room temperature but actually warm). When we asked if we could get cold water instead, we were told that they didn't have any cold water available due to the heat. This wasn't mentioned when we ordered. We were offered a small cup of ice, but there wasn't nearly enough to cool the whole bottle. The waiter didn't apologize and came across as quite rude and annoyed with us. She also never offered more ice, even though it was clear the amount we got wasn't enough. I understand that things happen, but a simple apology and a better attitude would have gone a long way. It's a shame because the food was good, but the service made the visit much less enjoyable.

I ordered the crepe with sour cherry sauce and dark chocolate, and it was absolutely delicious. We all started off with drinks - I'm not a wine person, but the prosecco was delicious and a great wine. While I typically would subtract a star for slow service, as we had some issues with people receiving drinks and appetizers, we were a large group with only a couple members of the waitstaff taking care of us. Overall, I found them very effective. For the entrees, we were given the duck confit. WOW! So so good. It was tender and perfectly cooked, and served with pickled cabbage that complemented it perfectly. It also came with a few potato dumplings which in general are a bit heavy so I didn't finish those. We ended the night with a dessert selection where I along with most of my cohort went with the Misa dessert, a whipped cream-sponge cake filling surrounded by hardened chocolate. It was delicious, but quite rich and I struggled to finish. So, so good though. The rich history of the restaurant is also absolutely fascinating and I'll recommend this restaurant!

We wanted to grab breakfast before we were headed to the airport but didn't feel like eating too much. First, they have a high chair, a huge plus for us parents. I got the mascara-done caramel banana pancake, which the server told us was a popular item. My husband got the salmon with cream cheese, and he said that was amazing. So unlike other places that usually stack pancakes and then put the topping at the top, this each layer has the filling, so each layer of the salmon pancake has cream cheese and salmon. The mascarpone and banana was the same each layer, filled with banana and cream. Highly recommend this little gem if you are around the area.

I got the halloumi pancakes and a karak latte. It's obviously not fast food, but both food and drink came out in what seemed like a totally reasonable amount of time. The pancakes were very good and also seemed very healthy as far as pancakes go - everything was perfectly balanced. The halloumi and avocado as well as the hummus were layered in the stack so every bite had something in it. The karak latte was also very good with a smooth flavour. I appreciated that they could make it with alternative milk since most places I've been to that serve this will only do it with dairy. Would absolutely recommend for a fun, relaxed breakfast or lunch.
