We stopped by for a quick lunch on our bike ride through Sunriver. We decided to spit a Club Sandwich . We found the service to be a bit slow. After 14 years of summer vacations in Sunriver we thought we'd tried every restaurant, but somehow Cafe Sintra escaped our notice. After reading about it on Yelp we decided to give it a try and Cafe Sintra exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment you walk into this warm inviting cafe it's exceptional quality is obvious, from the heavenly scent of homemade bread and pastries to the delicious aroma of espresso and freshly pressed fruit juice. We had a wonderful lunch the first day we visited; fabulous salad with fresh seasonal fruit and an incredible soup, homemade cranberry scones and freshly baked bread. As wonderful as lunch was, the mouthwatering aroma of fresh pancakes hung heavy in the air and we decided then and there to come in for breakfast the next morning. My boys actually got up EARLY for this, (no small feat, believe me). We were not disappointed. The pancakes were heavenly and italian sausages and scrambled eggs were perfection. My husband raved about his brie and avocado omelet and we all enjoyed the delicious coffee, cappuccinos and fresh juice. Thank you Yelp, for pointing us in the right direction. As my 18-year-old put it, "This is the best food we've had in Bend or Sunriver, there's really no comparison". Sadly vacation ends tomorrow and we must go back home to Portland, but my boys have already requested that we can make one last stop at Cafe Sintra for breakfast. Naturally we will! read more

Service not so great. She literally walked away in the middle of us ordering (I've been a waitress and I saw that she did it because one of her other tables had food that was up), but she could have at least commented that she'd be right back. She also didn't greet us or check on us or say anything nice. There was a big table next to us and only 2 of us. I think she was concentrating on the big tip from that table. We came here for the breakfast, stayed for the lunch. They stop serving breakfast at 11:30... There is a wide variety of sandwiches and salads, and soup&half sandwich, sandwich&salad combos. The house gazpacho soup is delicious, the sandwiches come on a freshly baked roll but sizes are not huge. If you're really hungry, the soup and half sandwich is not enough. Service is ok but not exceptional and the place gets loud with tourist groups. I have no idea why they call themselves Portuguese, there is not a single Portuguese dish on the menu. The Portuguese salad has feta in it, nobody in Portugal eats feta. read more

Probably the worst breakfast I've ever had. Everything tasted the same. This horrible after taste of oil and grease. We had the eggs Benedict and just awful. The sauce was not good and didn't get it. Tg kids French toast was sour and salted. My son immediately took a peace and said it was awful. we also waited 20 mins to even get our order. It seems they use the same fryer for everything hence everything tastes the same. With the awful aftertaste of sour and smell. Also our clothes smelled. read more

We've been Cafe Sintra fans for 7-8 years for our tracks to Sunriver. Our two rather finicky boys ALWAYS look forward to breakfast and/or lunch. Ditto mom and dad! Italian spicy sausage & mozzarella omelet is my personal favorite for b'fast. Wife lives their oatmeal and pastries. Boys love their pancakes and Italian link sausage. For lunch, gotta have the Italians sandwich (yep, there is a trend here) AND the Portugese chicken stew is fantastic especially during the winter. Wife loves their salads especially the mixed green salad. One son always goes off menu for a grilled cheese with ham. Their breads are all rustic, high end. Coffee is very tasty and they have solid selection of teas. Finally, Tracy and her long time staff are so friendly....even though we don't know each other they always recognize us and make us feel like Sunriver locals. Yep, it definitely can be crowded but I view this as a positive and a reflection of great food. A 10-20 minute wait flies by with a cup of Joe and a brief stroll. read more

Absolutely amazing! The freshly squeezed orange juice is a must have (as are the pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, and toast). The response from my 7year old son & 11 year old nephew when the waiter asked how everything was, "AMAZING." We are heading back to Orange County & will am preparing for withdrawals. Bad Service with an attitude even from the manager when we said the order was wrong - we were told it was read back to us which did not happen... We ordered Egg Benedict and the sauce tastes sour - I tried to ask the server if it's normal... She was very defensive The manager response was in the same way which was sad... They do seem to have good bread and delicious pastry - I just wish the service is a bit better read more

Let me start by saying the woman with the dreads is unbelievably rude. And this isn't the first comment specifically about her here on yelp. First of all, the "hostess" (term used lightly) hands you menus and points to an my open table to go seat yourself. Can't even be bothered to walk you to a table. Since it's so loosy goosy, my husband and I decided to move tables when 2 other people got up, so we could have a back to our chairs as opposed to a picnic bench. Half of the table hasn't been touched, the other half was not cleared yet so we sat at the clean half. Dreads comes over, did not even say hello or acknowledge us, starts clearing the table as she's steaming at us for moving. She's clearly mad, chucking water over her shoulder, onto the grass behind her shoulder with anger and seeing how pissed she was, I said "we wanted chairs with backs". She replies "ya, don't EVER do that - we have a process!" Ummm no you don't, it's "take a seat wherever you can find one outside" kind of place and far from 5-star dining. Completely shocked, we got up and told her never to speak to a patron that way and left. Will never go back. And will be alerting many others as well. She may need to rethink her career choice. I was visiting a friend and we came for breakfast. The first thing that stood out was the brilliant smile, friendly attitude, and attentiveness of the gentleman behind the counter. The food is delicious, but I have to make a point to say I have NEVER been to a restaurant that has such attentive staff! I travel and eat out often. The cooks made an error and instead of bacon, the plate came out with sausage. Not a huge deal, but no sooner did my boyfriend notice the mistake, and commented to the rest of us at the table, than the smiling man from the front register was standing next to the table with a fresh plate of bacon and an apology. We never said anything to the staff; they figured it out before we had time. Very impressive!! This will become our SunRiver breakfast spot for certain!! We came here every day of our stay at SunRiver resort. We loved it! Every meal was great- the kids loved it. The service was always spot on and friendly too. Overpriced mediocre food and lazy staff with attitude. Seriously people, you are slinging $15 omelets. How about acting like your customers matter? Why do people walk in the door to a "please wait to be seated" sign and get ignored? There is zero flow to the way this place operates. If you are lucky enough to get noticed and sat prepare to be served by someone who is too busy to do much more than plop a plate on your table and leave. As a homeowner in Sunriver it has been nice to have a go to breakfast place. After the last few experiences with Sintra Cafe I would rather shop at the market and cook at home. read more

Stopped in for lunch. One of the nice things about this place is that because it's off the "main drag" in the Sunriver village, it's often less crowded. Great sandwiches served in fresh baked breads. Gazpacho was bright and tangy. Eat outside in the shade under the eaves or inside. Very good lunch spot. I've heard their breakfasts are good too but have not tried that yet. read more

Cafe Sintra - New American Near Me - Sunriver, Oregon

I was staying at the Sunriver Resort for work and found this cute little cafe nearby to order my bosses lunch from. My bosses asked for the Soup of the Day, which that day was a Cream of Mushroom with Tomato and Basil. My bosses raved that it was the best soup they've ever had, and could not stop talking about it (and the bread we ordered with it). I called Cafe Sintra the next day because my bosses kept requesting the soup again, and the Chef agreed to make them a special pot. My bosses were so grateful the restaurant went out of their way to accommodate us. Since we had an entire pot of soup, I had leftovers to give to our other coworkers, and everyone agreed it was delicious. To this day, I'll ask my boss what she wants for lunch and she jokes "that soup from Sunriver". Thanks to Cafe Sintra for both making delicious food (which made me look really good for selecting this restaurant) and for going out of their way accommodate our request for the soup when it wasn't being served that day. This is the kind of food and customer service you can only hope to have at every restaurant! read more

I have been coming to Cafe Sintra for years; it is the best breakfast/brunch spot in Sunriver. The food is reliably superb. I'm partial to the pastries and the salads, but I've eaten almost everything on the menu and it's consistently excellent. The service is phenomenal.
