The interior is cosy and shabbily chic, with fairy lights, a piano, mismatched furniture, candles and flowers on each table and a fire in the winter. The small upstairs room is used for various classes and community events, or can be hired for birthdays etc. The noticeboard by the loo is crammed full of flyers for every goodly boho activity group/class you can think of. There's a choice from at least two different items for each course, and at about a tenner for 3 courses I have absolutely no complaints about the food. It is plentiful, simple, wholesome and yummy. Last time I went I had a very savoury mushroom and chestnut stroganoff with rice and several salads, and my friend had a comforting cheese and spinach souffle. The time before I think I had lentil shepherd's pie. It's BYO with no corkage charge, and there is a shop in Vauxhall station and a supermarket across the road from the station should you arrive empty handed. This is a lovely chilled place to enjoy a meal out, and anyone you take here will think that you are cool. If they don't, you probably shouldn't be friends/go out with them any more because they have no soul.

The menu is limited and you don't know what it will be until you arrive. You can only make reservations through text or email, not phone. Cash only ::eye roll:: I got the puy lentil shepherd pie, with side salad, as did my friend. The portion size for £8 was decent but we both agreed it was just fine- nothing spectacular. Like someone else cited in a review, home cooking. I've had MUCH better vegan/veg food elsewhere. It's a very tight space and was much too warm for all the bodies packed in the space. Ventilation was seriously needed.

He had looked up restaurants that served a full English breakfast, and Kennington Lane Cafe was highly regarded, and it happened to be a few minutes away from our B&B. We loved our breakfast so much that we went back a second day. What I liked about the menu was that is was easy to create exactly what you wanted. You could order a set breakfast (and easily add on extra sides), or you could pick and choose what you wanted, and make the breakfast as small or as large as needed to match your appetite. The breakfast I created had a small steak, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, and bubble and squeak. Delicious! I don't have an itemized bill of exactly what we ordered and the price of each item, but the totals on my credit card bill are £20.89 the first day and £20.50 the second day, and each bill included breakfast and coffee for two. Essentially, you can get a full breakfast for £10 -- a fantastic deal. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England; Poor and hungry?]

Their signature offering is the "Persepolis Feasting Menu," which came with multiple courses to share. There's no set menu and the dishes offered change by the day, so there's always an element of surprise! We were started with ramekins of a sweet potato soup with yogurt, but my favorite course was the meze platter, which came with pasta salad, falafels, sweet potato fritters, pickles, a cottage cheese dip, tahini, and hummus with cheese puffs sticking out! The mezes were served with pita bread slices, which were perfect for eating with the dips. The next three dishes were amazing as well: crispy halloumi with sesame and honey; fattet, or pita chips with spinach, chickpeas, and tahini; and a creative dish of chips, melted cheese, cauliflower, mushrooms, tomato, and onion, all seasoned with a yellow spice mixture. Finally, the last two dishes were pakora, or battered mixed vegetables (onion, cauliflower, pickles) served with saffron and dill aiolis on the side; and a final platter of rice, cucumber/onion/tomato salad, a red kidney bean stew, and a potato stew. While decent, the fried vegetables were on the greasy side, and the stews had an overly sweet flavor, and I was more impressed with the earlier courses. Finally came a colorful platter of dessert, which included ice cream topped with rose syrup; two different types of baklava; a cream-filled cake roll; jalebis; Turkish delight; cookie sandwiches; dates; and sliced strawberries/oranges. Everything we had here was flavorful, delicious, creative, and beautifully-presented, and enjoying the Middle Eastern hospitality was a great experience!

Still my fave veg restaurant, for the tasty food, the huge portion sizes and cheap prices. Yes, you…read moreshould make a reservation and you'll likely still have to wait to be seated, for a server to arrive at your table and for your food to arrive. But even this impatient native New Yorker is more then happy to deal. The avo smoothie is incredibly rich and whilst I thought the rose taste was a bit overpowering at this visit (my husband said it tasted like soap haha), I overall still loved it. My husband's date smoothie on the other hand was sadly underwhelming. My spiced broccoli soup was thick and creamy and full of flavour. I was so stuffed I regretted ordering the fried plaintains and eggs on bread as my main so my husband ended up eating it haha. But as I've ordered this before, I know how great it is. And he agreed, as it's slightly spicy and full of flavour. His main dish sadly again was bland: similar to a stir fry of veg and bread. He did enjoy the sahlep for takeaway though.

We arrived about 10 minutes before our teatime to a gentleman telling us that our teatime had been moved to 2 PM because of some filming. He stated that they had attempted to reach us, but we had not gotten a call. They offered to buy us a drink at the bar outside of the restaurant for our wait time. I had never had a tea in London and I had heard this was the best so I was willing to wait, even though I was not happy with the time change. Finally, when 2 o'clock came around, we were seated at the restaurant and greeted by a server who very much made me feel like we were a nuisance. He brought out a box of tea, which was lovely. The view from our window was lovely. He then proceeded to bring out a few sandwiches, which were definitely not enough to make me feel like I had eaten. Then brought the tower of scone and desserts. The sandwiches were decent. The scones were delicious with the clotted cream. Every single dessert was awful. And I am a big fan of dessert. Once our server had brought our food over, he never checked on us once. There was even a table sitting next to us that he kept attending to and we would call him over and he would ignore us and keep walking away. Eventually, we alerted someone in the restaurant to this situation and they sent over a new server. They took a small percentage off of our bill for the inconveniences. It was still about 150 pounds per person. This was the absolute biggest disappointment of anything I ate during this 2 week trip. I will never come back here and I will never suggest anybody come here. I have had better service and better food at a chain fast food restaurant. I was still hungry after this meal and ended up going somewhere else to eat after. That is very disappointing.

It's hard…read moreto believe that such a beautiful and tranquil place exists in SE11, but it does, and if you're in the area you must try it out. Set in an old Courthouse dating back to 1869 (hence the name), the building still retains all it's original features and is apparently home to a few convict ghosts still roaming the alls. The Kray Twins were even on trial here once so I won't be going here on a dark night. Yet surprisingly Jamyang has a relaxing air of calm about it and is a little southern haven. Besides the cafe the centre also offers a varied programme of events, from meditation classes to Tai Chi, Yoga and a series of talks on Buddhism, which are worth checking out. The cafe, although housed in the centre is a separate entity and Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike are welcome. They serve wholesome and completely scrumptious vegetarian food daily, using fresh, often locally sourced and in-season produce. Fare such as Leek and Potato Pie, Blood Orange and Leaf Salad and Lavender cake is currently to be found on the menu. The fresh, homemade bread is out of this world and couldn't be further from the quick-rise stuff we are all subject to in the supermarket these days. A wonderful garden area to the side, studded with flowers and plants, complements their farmhouse style food. Real wholesome food, made by really wholesome people. What an absolute find.

We followed up with some delicious pear cake. We were made to feel most welcome, and the whole place has a very relaxing and tranquil feel to it.

Things have moved on a lot since then! Our visit last night was delicious. We had: Beef dumplings: the best thing about these were the fact the the skins were homemade. Nice chew to them. To be honest, the filling wasn't anything to write home about but they were enjoyable nonetheless. Lamb skewers: as previous posters have mentioned, they come with globs of fat which probably fares well if you're in a freezing bitter climate. The lamb was perfectly cooked with just the right level of seasoning. Very good but I would probably pass on them the next time to make room for others things. Noodles with lamb: this was delicious. Lovely hand pulled noodles with small pieces of lamb. We really enjoyed this. The only slight drawback is that the noodles are obviously sitting in bowls in the kitchen so they can just quickly top each with the appropriate sauce/meat/veg combo and whisk it out that door. The noodles come stuck together in a single mass so be sure to mix it all up to loosen! Cabbage with preserved chile: this was by far the BEST dish we ordered. It was stir fried green cabbage with what I think was a soy and Chinese vinegar combo tossed with loads of dried red chiles. This was an amazing dish. The sauce paired so well with the cabbage which is only slightly wilted from the heat and still had a great crunch. I could have easily eaten another plate. Overall, a very satisfying and tasty meal that was great value as well. We also had two beers and it all came to £30, including tip. I would also add that you should definitely share your meal if you are there with another person. This food is meant to be eaten family style and not in the western vein of 'this is my dish, that is your dish'. I felt a bit sorry for the two women next to us who had ordered this way. It really takes the fun out of dining being a shared experience. Call ahead to reserve a spot. They get very busy with people spilling out onto the pavement to wait for a table.

I'd recommend it. The cucumber salad wasn't very flavourful...I've made better myself. The chicken and peppers was too hot. It had a 2 chilli rating but definitely seemed like a 5. I like spicy food but there were so many peppers it overpowered the chicken and the chicken wasn't the good quality either. My friend said the dumplings were good.
