Cons: With the location, prices are not going to be cheap. I feel like they're in line with other prices in North Beach (not many "deals"). I got an Old Fashioned cocktail and my girlfriend got an aperol spritz. Having tried old fashioned cocktails at many different bars/restaurants I'd say I have a good idea of what I like and what to look for in a solid cocktail. I unfortunately was unable to consume 1/2 of the cocktail and got a headache 10 min after taking my first sip. One of the more lackluster meals I've had in North Beach (and I have tried quite a few places during the pandemic). I should have been skeptical when I saw burgers & fries on the same menu as a chicken parm sandwich. I was really leaning towards a 2-star because of that dry chicken parm sandwich, but the calzone was decent enough to stabilize at 3-stars. Chicken Parm Sandwich: Extremely dry! The chicken cutlet was very thin and a seemingly overcooked. The bread itself seemed over toasted too, given that it was black in parts and quite dry. While a generous helping of tomato sauce might have been able to save the day, only a tiny sliver was spread on the bread. I've had better chicken parm sandwiches at generic sandwich and salad joints in the FiDi! Calzone Salcicce: Compared to the chicken parm sandwich, this was so much better. However, compared to other calzones around town, this was just ok. Wasn't huge, more like a medium pizza folded onto itself. A good amount of ground sausage, mozzarella cheese and sautéed peppers. They went a bit overboard on the mushrooms though, like half as much would have been good. They baked some sauce and cheese on top, which was a nice touch to keep it from getting too dry. Though they didn't offer any sauce on the side and, after I asked, only got a tiny container the same size they use for red pepper flakes. read more

Great location but very poor bar and service! I took a friend from out of town for an aperitif and they charged us $15 for a Spritz that was basically just sparkling water with a bit of Aperol and tons of ice.....that's not what an Aperol Spritz is. The recipe is 1/3 Aperol, 1/3 Prosecco and 1/3 sparkling water. Selling sparkling water at the price of a cocktail is simply cheating your customers. read more

Our food was obviously fresh, flavorful, and delicious. There is upbeat jazz playing in the background--a large dining room. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu choices and what was fresh. He suggested homemade pasta. We each ordered a Ceaser salad, a plate of Spinich pesto ravioli, and lasagne. The bread was soft, served with olive oil & balsamic vinegar. Our salads were served chilled, with crunchy leaves covered with the perfect amount of dressing. The salads are topped with parmesan shredded cheese, croutons, and black pepper. Our pasta was heated just right and was so soft & flavorful, made with garlic. The tiramisu was yummy & fresh, served chilled with fresh, fluffy real whip cream. We had the bruschetta and calamari- the mushrooms on the bruschetta were phenomenal and the calamari was also a lot better than we expected! I was in the neighborhood on business & decided to try this out for lunch as options are limited right now. They have plexiglass between the tables closest to the street & spaced out. I had the sausage sandwich and it was very good. My daughter had a salad which she enjoyed. There was a crowded lotable in the rear of the place with a lot of young customers who were not socializing too close. I noticed the owner was watching making sure it didn't get too loud as they were drinking etc. The bathroom is small, unisex & needed some attention but wasn't too bad. Amazing cute little place! We had the best service and dinner last night with 11 of us none of us felt crammed in! I forgot what they called it but the pappardelle pasta with short rib sauce was my favorite dish at the table. As much as I enjoyed my spaghetti de mar that pappardelle pasta was something I've never had. Arugula and beer salad was great tiramisu for dessert was great!!! I'll be back!!! Besos! I want to give this place more than a 3, honestly! The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The place is cute and conveniently located. We sat down and were served promptly. We ordered and were brought this amazing bread with vinegar and oil. Great. Our salads were really wonderful. The entrees, however, were not great. Pasta sauce was runny! The meatballs had a very good flavor, however, they were cold in the middle. The pasta was over cooked and bland. So sad to give this rating, but they could do better, and it wouldn't be that hard. read more

Several of the Italian restaurants near us on a Sunday afternoon San Francisco stroll were closed and this was the only one in walking distance that seemed open...plus we were all starving. I was pleasantly surprised though as the food was delicious: Crostini: The bread was nice and toasty, good amount of cheese and prosciutto (sp?). I would recommend this. Caprese: Basil, Tomato, and Mozzarella..The cheese was fresh and the whole thing was awesome. They give you a very large portion but it didn't come with any extra bread. Spinach and Pesto Ravioli: This was excellent as well but it needed some more seasoning...you will need to throw on some salt from the shaker. For a restaurant that doesn't have that many reviews (and not the best at that) I was content with it. We could have done alot worse on a random lunch drop in. Points for the outside heating if it's cold out and you want to eat outside and points for the waiter that looked exactly like Robert Downey Jr...don't bring this up to him though as he seemed irritated when we did (lol). The only thing I would change is the time it took to get our entree...it took such a long time that we were already full from our appetizers and didn't really feel up to eating the entree. I've been going here for a long time. Booked mother's day for 14, and it was superb. Parking is easy. Plenty of seating, and the food was multo authentico. The antipasta was a mix of fresh griglia vedura, formaggio, and prosciutto. I had a prawn (giant) risotto that was perfect. Others had pesto ravioli, sea bass, chicken, lasagna, etc. For dessert, they brought out a freshly baked raspberry cheese cake with a homemade crust that was delightful. I am surprised to see any other reviewer has anything but fantastic remarks about this place. The food is always very good, and the waitstaff is super friendly and helpful. We have eaten here several times. The last time we were a little pressed for time, as we had a meeting to attend. We told the waiter about this and he got the food right out to us so that we would have plenty of time to eat (not shovel) and make it to our meeting. I had the chicken piccata and it was delish. My friend had the sea bass, which was also wonderful. I never think to take pics of the food when it comes, but I did get some pics of the restaurant in general. Excellent Italian dinner in a great atmosphere! We walked here after our tour to Alcatraz and were the only ones there at 4pm. We enjoyed drinks and a delicious bruschetta appetizer while sitting outside at cute cafe tables then ordered chicken parmigiana and house made gnocchi in meat sauce ... we both loved our dinners , sauce is thick and rich , chicken extremely tender and gnocchi melted in my mouth. Don't believe the bad reviews..Absolutely delicious food! The service was perfect; on time, helpful, very friendly. On a very busy Friday night, we were seated within 10 minutes and had some of the best Italian food ever. Ample portions, beautifully presented and every bite was ambrosia. The salad was fresh and just right. Every waiter was your personal guide to Italian cuisine; everyone was treated like a good friend and left feeling satisfied and wishing they could eat more if possible, but they just had the best Italian meal of their life.
