This was a great little find while strolling through downtown Lancaster. I loved the vibe inside. You order at the counter, then sit down and they bring you your food. Good service. I am a vegetarian, and while it is not a vegetarian cafe, it had a lot of nice selections for a non-meat eater. I had a grilled sandwich with pineapple and cheese, which was very good. My friend had a roasted vegetable sandwich, which she said was very good. I also had a yummy bowl of tomato soup. Both sandwiches came with chips. For a downtown location such as this, I found the prices to be very reasonable. I am glad I found this charming cafe. read more

I did not like the way this restaurant dealt with tips and requests for water. I went in for a sit-down lunch. I ordered my food at the counter, and paid with a credit card, it asked for a tip amount. Tips are based on food and service and are given after the meal, not before. If you ask for water, they ask if you want bottle or cup. They provide small cups, but the customer has to go to the rear of the restaurant and fill their cup from an industrial type sink in the entryway of the kitchen. Pitchers of water on the counter would have indicated more respect for the customer. Food was good, priced well. read more

I went here with my fiance Caitie for brunch on Saturday morning. I've been to several coffee shops around Lancaster and all have been very good so we decided to give this one a try. Walking in the place is very clean and has a modern industrial design. The floor creeks and you can feel someone walking by as the floor sags, but in this case it gives the cafe shop some personality. Some of the tables are community seating, and I thoroughly enjoyed having some random conversation with some very nice people. My fiance ordered the peach apple tea and I had the espresso truffle (hot chocolate with a shot of espresso). My drink was fantastic and not overpowering of chocolate. Caitie enjoyed hers as well, and we ended up splitting an open omelet with maple sausage, onions, peppers and cheese with fresh orange slices and toast on the side. The food was fantastic and plenty enough to split between two people! The menu is full of pretty standard breakfast food, but for sure it is of higher quality than your average breakfast joint. Everything tasted fresh and the atmosphere was relaxing. Having the option of community seating and serving up some great food and drink really makes this place worthwhile. My review is based on a quick take-out order from yesterday, but they deserve the review despite the quick visit. Super clean, bright interior. Love the white-washed brick look. If you don't mind a short walk, you can find free 2 hour parking on Prince, near the Art District. People were coming in and out on this rainy Monday. Looks like a prime spot to grab a healthy lunch and coffee/tea to enjoy back at your desk. Otherwise, they had plenty of seating inside. A few spots to window watch and a couple larger tables that could seat 6, so bring your office mates with you and eat in. Their breakfast items look fantastic and I look forward to checking them out on my next overnight trip to Lancaster. I went with the Gotham: Chicken breast, provolone cheese, basil pesto & roasted red pepper on ciabatta bread. It was out to me in under 10 minutes and served warm. A tad messy to eat on the road, but every bite was phenomenal. Nicely chopped chicken strips of white meat and super juicy. The balance of items was spot on, so every bite was as enjoyable as the next. The sandwich was not a monster, nor a steal at $9 and change, but well worth it. Seriously, one of the best sandwiches I've enjoyed in a long time. My only complaint would be that there was not a large board showing the menu items (unless I totally missed it!), but just two clip boards at the counter, so you couldn't really prepare yourself ahead of time. I actually stepped out of line b/c I had no clue what they offered and found a small stack of menus just before you would go around the corner towards the bathrooms, so I made up my mind, lost my place in line and ordered. This is one of the best cafes in town. Place is very nice and cozy. It got renovated not long before my visit. Good work! Parking is not a problem if you are an early bird. They are open at 7AM which is perfect for work day. I ordered my typical breakfast - medium latte and yogurt parfait. It was delicious! They got peaches from local farms. What else do you need??? The problem tho is prices. I am not sure I can repetitively spend $10. Another cafe right around the corner provides the same quality of food & services, but charges a bit less for everything. read more

Cafe One Eight is a great little spot on my "Coffee Round" of Lancaster City. Beautiful interior design and has a full lunch and breakfast men, so you can legit eat here! Workers are always incredibly friendly. Food sometimes takes a while and isn't anything extra ordinary, but still good if you need to stop in for a bite and a coffee. Double check prices too. I accidentally purchased a $6 kombucha which kind of blew my mind haha! It wasn't horrible tasting, but definitely did not see a price on there and felt like a dummy if I wanted to return it. They also have a small bakery section that looks great (though we didn't try it that day I'm dying to have the cookie dough cupcake!). 3 of us went for a quick lunch and none of us were disappointed. we ordered sandwiches and wraps and all 3 were delicious. Service was top-notch and my take-out was checked on as soon as I walked in. The ambience is beautiful and open. For me personally, it's too open. If I was there to work or have a bite I would want just a bit of room and privacy which would not work here. In fact, the hipsters sitting on stools in the windows seem to be on display like ladies of the night in Amsterdam. The Lancaster burrito was fresh and filling but not terribly exciting. Good luck finding a spot to sit down and have their extremely bitter and lukewarm coffee and any food off their overly expensive menu: chances are there are loud and annoying teens trying to capture the perfect picture for instagram, or #BossBabe bloggers having uncalled photo shoots while people are trying to eat and have conversation. Coffee is almost ALWAYS lukewarm, never had an actual hot cup of coffee there the three or four years I've been in Lancaster. Food is mediocre at best; yesterday I had the grilled cheese with a cup of white chicken chili and the soup was ice cold, and grease soaked the sandwich and made the toasted bread soggy. I paid around ten bucks for a soggy sandwich and cold soup. *eye roll* If you're looking for cute photos to make your instagram aesthetically pleasing, you're in the right place. If you actually want to enjoy some nice and HOT coffee and good food, might wanna explore Lancaster a bit since you're not gonna find that here. But if you do decide to stay in house or try to get some work done, be prepared for obnoxious teens and college students and bloggers blabbing about instagram aesthetics. Wifi is free if you ask for the password, but connection barely holds. This place is also inaccessible, having several large stairs before you get to the door. There's a single gender neutral bathroom that is accessible though. Can't say anything about accessibility of seating, since I use a cane and not a wheelchair. read more

We visited for lunch today and were pretty unimpressed. My chicken and sweet potato wrap was incredibly dry - the sweet potato was desiccated - and they were out of the usual dressing for that particular wrap, so I asked for their maple tahini dressing to be put on instead. You wouldn't think they could mess that up, but of the two ingredients, it seemed they forgot the tahini. My guy's roast beef and horseradish sandwich had no horseradish. I suspect they cook and store all the ingredients in advance and don't have a real food person on hand all days to be sure things are fresh and tasty. Nice atmosphere but they have to start caring a bit more about their food. read more

If you want to find the worlds best family owned cafe look no further. I happened to be in the Lancaster Area with my friend yesterday and decided to stop in to see the food and beverage selection. They had a nice selection of healthy options, coffee, tea, dessert case, etc. I went with the market sandwich, which was the BEST caprese sandwich in my life the flavors flowed perfectly together and we accompanied by 3 strawberries and a raspberry rose tea for the drink and a macaroon for dessert. I decided to visit here last week for a quick lunch. The cafe has a nice open environment and quick service. I ordered the veggie jumble salad and an earl grey tea. The tea was high quality and a good serving in a large cup. The veggie jumble salad came with a small cup of balsamic vinaigrette on the side and I found the amount ample for the veggie filled salad. I ordered only a cappuccino and waited a little longer for it than I would have expected, but not ridiculously long. The cappuccino was well made and looked perfect. I ordered mine with skim milk, which I think was what made it taste a little bland and burnt. I'd go back and order something else to see if the coffee is richer.
