We were mosying around downtown lititz and I needed caffeine and this was the closest caffeine place and I'm so glad we stopped in! Their seasonal drinks were so good. I got the pistachio raspberry late and my fiancé got the blueberry ginger espresso tonic and they were both so delicious. The staff was friendly! The cafe itself was warm and welcoming. We stopped in for a quick breakfast before hitting the airport. It was early, and we were the only people in the cafe. Food was great! Two of us ordered a breakfast sandwich; I think it was a grilled cheese breakfast sandwich on the menu? That was a hit, as was the two eggs and toast combo. Servings were substantial, but not too much, and there was plenty of room in the establishment for our baby stroller, which we had been having trouble with in some of the restaurants. Cute coffee shop on Main Street in Lititz. On the street parking (metered, $1/hr). Good selection of teas and coffee, and pastries.

We visited this Cafe because we liked the menu. Most of the other places in Lititz are standard American Fair and or serve alcohol which is something we try and avoid. I wanted it to be awesome and somewhere I will return but I'm not sure. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is the acoustics are horrible. The owners should really try and add some items to help absorb the sound. Exchanging the metal chairs with wood and maybe adding some plants might go a long way. My mom ordered a vegetarian wrap... Spinach for the win or something like that was the name. She liked it but it came with potato chips. I feel like they're trying to offer a healthy menu but then they put potato chips on the wrap. She enjoyed the rap and said it was delicious. To my eyes it looked a little small for the price. I ordered a salad with chicken. I actually had to pick some of the greens because there was some slimy stuff in there, not a lot but just enough to be annoying. Salad wasn't that big for $12 or whatever the price was. We may go back at some point but next time we go to Lititz we will probably try something else. read more

Came here a couple times now, the food was really good. I got the West Coast Wrap, my sister got the BLT. Both were really good, there was a decent amount of bacon on the BLT, and the warmth and creamy-ness of the wrap was amazing! For coffee, we both got iced lattes (with whole milk). They were nothing special. She got the Maple spice latte while I got the gingerbread latte. The gingerbread syrup was slightly bitter and overpowering, making it hard to enjoy the drink or to even finish it. I docked a star only for the suboptimal watery coffee. I could have made this with my espresso machine at home. Could be better. Maybe I'll try it with oat milk next time to make it creamier and more rich. I won't give up on you Slate, I'll be back for more wraps and yummy treats. read more

Cute spot along Main Street in downtown Lititz. We came for a lighter lunch, and I had seen that they had acai bowls which fit the bill. The acai bowl was just OK, a little thinner consistency than I prefer. I give them props for the presentation. Seating is limited, but our group of 6 was able to assemble a few smaller tables and make it work. I didn't find the service to be great, cashier wasn't all that friendly with our group, which ended up spending a pretty decent amount between the acai bowls, lattes and canned drinks. read more

We arrived to Slate at 11am, there was no line so we walked up and ordered two large lattes. The young man behind the counter interrupted me in the middle of my order to talk to the guy who had walked in behind me about some inside joke he and his co-worker had about decaf. He apologized for interrupting me, not a big deal, I shrugged it off and kept on with my order. Two large lattes with oat milk was $13.25. We sat down to wait for our drinks to be prepared, however, we noticed about 7-8 drink orders were fulfilled to customers who had come in AFTER we had ordered. After waiting till 11:25am, I finally walked up to the counter to ask for an ETA on when our drinks would be ready. The young man looked at me with a puzzled look and asked what I had ordered, I reminded him two lattes. He informed me that he must have lost my ticket. He apologized and the barista proceeded to make our order. The drinks were good however after waiting nearly half an hour for drinks I would have expected a refund or discount of some sort. Luckily it was Sunday and we didn't have a lot going on, however if this were on a work day I would have been quite cross. Overall I'm giving two stars as they made eye contact with us multiple times as we stared at them behind the counter talking small talk I guess assuming we were just there to enjoy the ambiance. Might give them another shot but with 5-6 other decent coffee shops around Lititz,it might not be for a while. read more

I was so excited to try this cafe as I've been following them since their beginning on Instagram. I was a little disappointed for a few reasons. The location was much smaller than I expected they also didn't have as many food choices as I thought they did, which was fine but the food that was served was pretty lackluster. We went in and ordered and right after us a bunch of people came in so our order got delayed and they almost forgot two of our items which we had been waiting for as they started to help new patrons who had come in. The girl taking my order asked if I wanted my cookie warmed and I never got my cookie, the other girl realized it and then gave it to me but it wasn't warmed. I was asked if I wanted chips or fruit with my sandwich and for fruit thinking I would have a nice little fruit cup and I got a few grapes and one slice of orange. My sandwich was decent which was the spinach and goat cheese mostly because goat cheese is always a win. I didn't taste any spinach really. My friend got an omelette and I don't know how they cooked it but it looked fake it was too perfectly shaped and didn't seem to have anything inside of it. I give them kudos for being a cafe that serves food but the quality could be stepped up. read more

This place is adorable. I wish they had a location in downtown Lancaster as well. The shop has a good amount of seating- there are two tables for two guests outside and my friend and I brought our two golden retrievers for breakfast. We only tried the green açaí bowl but enjoyed it. I look forward to going back with my husband for a breakfast or lunch date. You can also grab a healthy dinner here Update: I came here this morning and ordered one open-faced sandwich. The sandwich took an hour to come out and the bacon was not fully cooked. The teenager who took over the cashier for the manager was very polite but the cafe was not packed and an hour for a breakfast sandwich is unreasonable. I would not bring my family back. read more

I visited this cute little cafe the other day and it is so cute and cozy! The baristas are very friendly. They seem to have a lot of options for customizing your drinks whether it be flavors or dietary needs. My sister got a strawberry banana smoothie which she said was delicious. It was recommended that I try Slate Cafe and I came here for lunch today. I wanted a turkey sandwich but wanted to substitute mayo for the honey mustard that was in the description of the sandwich. The counter help said they don't have mayo, they don't offer mayo. What the heck? I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and was asked if I wanted chips or a fruit plate. I choose the fruit plate. See the photo. Very sad looking mostly loose grapes and an orange slice. Should have had the chips . The coffee tastes good but came out of a pump carafe and was tepid at best. I was very disappointed w/ my visit. I hope it was an anomaly but I won't be back to find out because there are so many other options. read more

So I have to say - this is becoming my favorite little spot to grab lunch or coffee. I've gone in twice since my initial visit a couple of weeks ago. The staff is always SO friendly. I now have ordered the cranberry walnut chicken salad and wow! VERY good and such a healthy portion. I have also ordered the chicken bacon bbq wrap to go and I thought they did an excellent job prepping it to go. I love their hot caramel macchiatos as well. The food came out quickly but it was overall a bad experience. The breakfast menu was extremely limited (less than half of what was shown online) and the food came out on paper plates with plastic silverware--which negated the ambience completely and was upsetting to the group, who all care about sustainability. This restaurant is also not at all vegan or vegetarian friendly--the gf options were okay but there were maybe one or two vegetarian dishes, and the side of home fries that we did get had multiple pieces of bacon in it. read more

Situated in the middle of downtown Lititz is a brand new, cute little cafe run by two amazing twin sisters. Upon entering, I was greeted by the sisters and their team who had just begun their switch over to the lunch menu. While there is no wait service, the service is still pretty fast once you place your order at the counter. I ordered a traditional, handcrafted macchiato that was brought to my seat. Incredible aroma and an even better taste for a great afternoon pick-me-up. I also decided to give the lunch "pick two combo" a try. I got the soup of the day, broccoli cheddar, and the bbq chicken sandwich. Both were delivered quickly and did not disappoint. The homemade feeling these dishes gave was well worth the stop in this beautiful cafe. I will definitely be returning to try the breakfast menu as well. I stopped in wanting to have some type of breakfast and coffee. I normally drink iced coffees but wanted a hot drink and hot breakfast with eggs of some sort (just a hot breakfast bagel sandwich would have been great) since it was raining and I was cold. Upon entering, I was greeted by one of the owners, I believe, and she was explaining how they are just going to offer bagels, toast, pastries & coffees but they had been closed for a couple of weeks so they didn't have any of that to offer. I believe she said the quiche would be ready in an hour. She said they were tired of people telling them what "they" wanted. They're going to tell people what they have. She said they opened the business to be a cafe, just a coffee place and grab a quick bagel. Well, I wish you luck but customers do want food, protein, not all carbs and unhealthy food. The couple that came in behind me heard the rambling and turned right back around out the door. They wanted "real food" too. I decided to try a cappuccino. It was horrible. I think for the location and what they are offering, this place will definitely be visited by a lot of people... especially those who like cafes and healthy options in clean and chic looking places. The problem with Slate however, is that the ambiance and decor is better than the food - which really remind me of Panera. The açai and super green bowls are nice but if you're looking for something to fill you up, it won't be much different than what you can get from another sandwich place ie Panera - broccoli & cheddar soup and paninis. So overall I would say the location of this place helps but it's not something I will write home about. read more

I was very disappointed. The shop is very cute and has a lot of seating, including outdoor seating. My fiancé and I ordered two sandwiches. After about 45 minutes we realized that it was taking quite some times. We heard a family come out and say they waited over an hour. I went inside just to see how much longer it would be and was told, by the manager, that they were backed up. I understand being backed up, I've been there when I worked in food but the least you could do is inform people BEFORE they order. The staff was very friendly and apologized but knowing before would have helped a lot. We did wind up getting a refund and no food at Slate. We had planned on eating early and getting on the road but because of this we didn't get started until much later than planned. Maybe one day we'll try again. read more
