    Lancaster quiche

What a lovely restaurant! My husband and I actually stayed at the restaurant owners' Airbnb and got a voucher to this restaurant. We had a delicious brunch. I ordered the Lancaster quiche, which came with a side salad. The quiche wasn't too heavy and had a good flavor. I really liked the crust. It was a good portion as well. The servers are friendly, and there's plenty of seating inside. Would definitely come back here and try the French toast next time we are in the area!

Best coffee I've had in PA After spending the night in Lancaster I was searching for a spot for brekkie. The speckled hen called my name. And I am so glad it did because wow! This is a must stop spot in my opinion. I decided to order the avocado toast, an iced strawberry matcha, and a hot mocha. This avocado toast was not only beautiful, but it was so incredibly delicious! The flavors mingled perfectly and I always love a nice bite of pickled red onion! The matcha was also fabulous. The perfect color!! And a fabulous flavor to go with it. As for this mocha, I genuinely don't know if I've ever had a better espresso! And I'm from Seattle so I consider myself to know a few things. The foam was so think that the coffee art didn't move when I took a sip. Jaw drop moment for me. The inside was nice and bright. Lots of seating! Definitely would stop by if I had the opportunity again!

Definitely get in here early for the best experience! The food was delicious & coffee options were great. I wanted to try more lattes, but we were short on time. A flight option would be cool in the future! Cute kids area in the back and lots of seating. Bathrooms were clean and you really got the "old town" feel in this shop. 100% will return.

A surprising find for some gluten free and vegan gals! This was something like you would find in a more urban area. We found our table and perused the menu before heading to the counter to place our order. Got our little buzzers and took a seat.... And then they brought the food to us! I got the sweet potato bowl with GF toast. My friend got the vegan burrito. We both loved our choices. The coffee was excellent, too. We got there as soon as they opened and it was completely empty.... It soon filled up and the kids play area was right behind us. We soon found ourselves shouting to hear one another. Maybe not the best place to sit if you don't have littles with you. I'd love to come back to try some other dishes. They all looked so good.

Beautiful place, surrounded by fresh country air! The food is wonderful, try a quiche, service is top notch!

Came in for coffee and pastry and unfortunately really hated it. Coffee is not bad, but pastries are awful. The most mediocre baking I have ever had. On top of it they messed up our coffee order and we had to wait literally forever. I don't know if this is the only spot in town...it was extremely overcrowded. Ambience and decor, however, were not bad.

Dave and I had one day to spare after graduation in Maryland, so we took a ride to Pennsylvania Dutch Country. We needed to find a place to eat outside with Freckles and we came across the Speckled Hen Coffee Place in Strasburg. This cafe is charming and is located on Main Street. You order at the counter and then you get your own coffee. It's the kind of place that you can relax, read, do school work etc. We both had the western omelettes that were delicious and I had home fries on the side and Dave grits, When our food was ready the servers brought it outside for us along with a water bowl for Freckles. We ate and watched the cars and buggies go by. I love the beautiful green fields and horses and buggies. I even saw the Host Farm which is now a Hershey's property. Here's where I went first my honeymoon a long, long, time ago. We hopefully will return to this beautiful place with its perfect temperatures again.

Great atmosphere; easy ordering process. Self-seating and lots of room. Food was simple and outstanding, fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area!

Oh my goodness, I haven't had brunch like this in a while! Speckled Hen Coffee was a nice surprise. We needed lunch in between our steam train experience and the Amish farm tour, but there wasn't a lot of options. At first glance I ignored this place because we thought it was just coffee! Then my friend said we should go because they have different options for the adults and the kids. The menu was extremely extensive and so appealing! There were breakfast bowls, omelettes, quiches, dessert, beverages, burgers, you name it! And all seemed like table to farm type of vibe. I went with the homestyle breakfast bowl, which a worker recommended. It had beans, cheese, salsa, bacon and egg all on top of some fresh spinach. Once mixed, it was the best dang bowl I've had. The flavors mixed well, and it didn't feel at all heavy (though to be fair I gave one bacon to my bacon-loving daughter!) I had my meal with their popular iced coconut latte. My friend loved it so much I went to ask which brand they used for the coconut milk in the latte. Turns out they make their own coconut syrup!! Lots of seating options, including a private room with a large table in the back. That's where we sat and felt like we didn't need to be embarrassed when our four little children got a little bit louder. I really wish they had this place in New-York city! I would definitely come back.

Excellent breakfast choices. Whereas generally you can find pancakes and sugary treats widely in this area , healthier choices are much harder to find. This place catered to all - sliced avocados , egg whites , yoghurts , berries. The service on top was amazing in a very nice setting.

A great place for breakfast/brunch! The food is delicious and the staff is so friendly! There's plenty of seating inside and outside. You order at the counter and pick a table and the staff will bring your food/drinks to you. Highly recommend the lattes. I ordered an iced coconut latte and it was so good. I also ordered the speckled hen omelette which has candied bacon, cheddar cheese, bell peppers and onions. They sautéed the onions and peppers to give it that caramelized taste 10/10! Definitely give this place a try There's plenty of plenty on the side of the restaurant and there's a playground for the kids with a couple of tables.

It is located on East Main Street in downtown Strasburg. The inside consists of a large main room with an L shaped bar, a number of TVs, and then a second dining room off to the side. Since no one was seated in the second room and we had twin four year olds with us, we chose that space. Unfortunately the TV in that room was broken, so we were not able to watch the Steelers game that was on. Aside from that, the room itself had a cozy and slightly eclectic feel. There was a decorated Christmas tree lit up in the corner near the staircase which gave the space a warm seasonal vibe. The walls were decorated with brewery signs and beer themed banners, and a bright yellow decorative mantel stood out against the darker wall colors. Overall it felt casual and welcoming and worked well for a family dinner. For dinner on this evening I went with the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak while my wife chose the K Town Mac Bowl. The menu described my wife's dish as three cheese cavatappi pasta with smoked pork slaw, Korean BBQ drizzle, sesame seeds, and scallions. My sandwich was described as smoked chicken, American cheese, buffalo sauce, gorgonzola, onion frizzles, ranch drizzle, and a hoagie roll. I thought my sandwich ended up being good, especially since it was chock full of chicken. The hoagie roll was toasted and buttered nicely and added a good crunch, which the onion frizzles helped reinforce. The gorgonzola added a nice pungent pop of flavor. While I did get some buffalo flavor, I definitely could have used more. Because of that, the sandwich was a little on the drier side despite having cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch drizzle. My fries were seasoned and had a nice texture, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Spring House Brewing, a flight consists of four beers and I chose the Cucumber Salamander, Backroads Shadows, Daily Planet, and Love and Rockets. The Love and Rockets ended up getting mixed up and I was instead served Grease the Poles. I started with the Cucumber Salamander, which is a sour. It was a bit tart right from the start and that carried through to the finish, with a little extra pucker at the end. Up next was Backroads Shadows, a lager with a crisp, clean start before the malts came through on the finish. This felt like a really good easy drinking beer. Third was Daily Planet, an IPA that had citrus up front followed by a solid hop presence that carried through the finish. Last was Grease the Poles, a pale lager that started off very clean before finishing with some lighter hop notes. Out of the bunch, the Cucumber Salamander was definitely my favorite. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Our food and drinks were good, and I would be interested in trying more of their beers.

Looked like there was only 2 servers for the entire place which was busy. My husband liked his chili, so that's the two star review. He said it had a lot of flavor. I had the brisket sandwich which was very small for the price with not a lot of meat. The meat had no flavor at all. Was not served with the au ju, which I had to ask for. Unfortunately, the au ju did not make it any better. The Cole slaw had a good flavor and was not sweet, so that was the best part of the food.

I think their home made pies are something to try - the crust and crumble on their pies are a little different from typical American style pies - may be a little more dry and crumbly??. I didn't love the crumble but I liked the pie crust, but my husband loved it all. Doesn't hurt to try once but only for the experience.
