My boyfriend and I visited Cafe Old Vienna during our annual Myrtle Beach trip, and this was my very first time trying German food. I was honestly very surprised by how much I enjoyed everything. The inside of this quaint little restaurant has a strong German feel. The staff are dressed traditionally, which makes the whole place feel charming and authentic. It is honestly adorable. I would love to return when they have live music to enjoy the full experience. We started with the potato pancakes and the sausage platter, and both were excellent. Every sausage on the platter was seasoned so well that I did not even need mustard. I ate each one exactly as it was served, and the flavor was fantastic. The pretzels that came with the platter were also very good. The potato pancakes were phenomenal. I easily could have eaten more, but I wanted to save room for my entrée. For my meal, I ordered the veal schnitzel with spaetzle and potato salad, along with mushroom gravy. The veal was incredibly tender and absolutely delicious. I loved it so much that I want to try making it at home. The spaetzle was fantastic and something completely new for me. The mushroom gravy really brought everything together and made the dish feel complete. The potato salad was just average, but everything else was outstanding. My boyfriend ordered the pork schnitzel with spaetzle and really enjoyed his meal as well. Between the music, the cozy atmosphere, and the wonderful food, the entire experience was warm and memorable. This was such a great introduction to German cuisine, and I would definitely return. read more

"We caught the COV Catering truck at the Little River Food Truck Festival today, and they absolutely stole the show! We ordered a couple of the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwiches and some fries, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best schnitzel I've ever had. The sandwich was huge--definitely didn't skimp on the portions--and the breading was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Also, a huge shoutout for the small details: the bottled Diet Cokes were ice cold. Most of the time at these outdoor festivals, you're lucky to get a 'cool' drink, but these were refreshing and perfect for a day out in the sun. Cafe Old Vienna is a casual restaurant offering Austrian & German dishes, a beer garden & live music. Absolutely loved our meal here this evening. My daughter chose this restaurant and she wasn't disappointed! We ordered the German Feast for 2 and there wasn't a thing on that plate that wasn't delicious. The pork Wiener schnitzel was pounded thin and perfectly crisped. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and buttery soft inside. The sauerkraut and red cabbage provided a bright contrast to the heavy meat plate. I don't know the difference between the brauts but they were all tasty especially when adding the sweet hot mustard. We had quite a bit of leftovers so we will enjoy the meal again. The Bloody Mary was perfectly spiced and bold. Our server Kayla was attentive and efficient even though the place was packed. We made reservations which I highly recommend doing. Went for dessert because they are known to have sachertorte. We ordered that and a piece of crème brûlée cheesecake. Both obviously came from a frozen cake. Neither was very good. At $9.00 a slice I expect more. The server never once asked us how they were. Their dinners smelled good and they have a nice ambiance. Showed up for happy hour just to have a couple of German beers. (Not hungry, hahaha!) Sat at the bar and had a flight of 6 beers on tap then a couple of pints (actually 14 oz), and ordered food from the happy hour menu. Schnitzel bites, fried mushrooms, and a pretzel. Omg. I could drink the beer cheese from a straw. I don't eat meat, but I filled up on carbs and yummy sauces. Oh and Noah was our bartender- he was awesome! This has been our go to German restaurant when we visit Myrtle Beach. The food is representative of Northern German cuisine. The menu carries a wide variety of dishes from Schnitzel to wurst and others. Our server was very good and provided excellent and timely service. The ambiance is fairly representative of most German restaurants with heavy wood paneling. Unfortunately, the one negative was my wife's sauerbraten. There was little to no ginger flavor. Cool German Restaurant Ambiance was fun but accordion player is a bit much fof such a small space. It was very hard to talk. Service was very attentive but we felt a bit rushed when two of our party were still eating and we were asked if we wanted dessert. Hungarian Gulash was fabulous. People who got weiner schnitzel were VERY pleased. Those who got the sauerbraurten were also happy. The stuffed cabbage was more like a hard Chinese sausage...really would not recommend and the veggie medley that came with it was barely cooked... in fact it was more like they blanched them. Ok not sure what is going on here, and have heard via the grapevine that the restaurant we have come to love for its German food has changed hands and is under new management. Let's start with the stable of German cuisine, the Weiner schnitzel. It is breaded Veal. Here the breading is falling off the Veal combined with a lack of any real flavoring other than a massive amount of salt. The veal is also stringy and super tough (Make sure u sharping your choppers.). Let's now move onto the Spätzle. Again no flavor combined with the consistency of spaghetti. Breading falling off of veal is a sure sign of poor cooking, (not breaded properly, or oil not hot enough. Spaghetti like Spatzle is more of the same.) I know the restaurant advertises a chief from Bavaria, however the food makes me question if this Bavaria is somewhere in Mexico or South America. The Service like the veal is tough an unfriendly. May also want to suggest to the wait staff to clean/wash there German outfits, no one wants to see bits and pieces of 2 week old meals on there uniforms, makes me think.....if the wait staff looks like this, what is going on in the kitchen. Cost of a dinner for two about 80-100$ including tip. Bottom line strong pass on this Restaurant with the suggestion that if they did changed hands they immediately rehired the German Bavarian Chief. If not, the beer is good and plenty full just eat somewhere else. read more

We stopped in here for dinner one night before heading to the Boardwalk. It was boiling hot outside, but the restaurant was very comfortable inside. Very nice decor throughout the restaurant. Friendly staff and clean. There is indoor seating and a small patio outside. I would not suggest sitting on the patio during the summer months. The food tasted amazing. Authentic to German-Austrian cuisine. The schnitzel was fried perfectly, and had lots of flavor. The gravy on top had a rich mushroom flavor. The spetzel was freshly home made. We came in on a busy Friday and were accommodated. I suggest making a reservation on a weekend. The hostess greeted us and asked how we were doing. The server Keyla did apologize for the time it took to get to us. She was attentive and friendly. All of the servers were busy and hustling to take care of tables. The salad dressing, the house vinaigrette, was SO delicious and was my favorite part of the meal. It was like a tangy sweet and sour flavor. The bread that came with the meal was crusty and warm. My friend had the jaeger schnitzel, and I tried it. I don't like pork or mushrooms but wow! It was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and the gravy was creamy and tasted from scratch. Portions were plentiful, and the dessert choices were tempting, so we took some home. There was an accordion player providing entertainment, and he played traditional and popular culture tunes. She was very attentive to our allergies, Gluten intolerance and Celiac menus presented. We had our adult beverages and on to the deliciousness. decided to try the garlic soup which I devoured followed by a nice salad and the delicious Pork Belly dinner with enough to be enjoyed the next day for breakfast.
